How to make it in the legal weed biz:
Step 1: Have a shitload of money to start a legal grow with permits, a warehouse space, employees, and tons of grow equipment and thats just to get started. People make it seem like you can just start a grow out of thin air with no issues and that is %100 false
If they'd allow home growers to receive a license allowing them to sell legally than all the problems would be solved
We will see how NY gov follows up with their plan for micro-grow licenses. Bummer I never had a possession charge because they have the most opportunity now? I see their logic but it isn't logical right
I think your comment is pointless. Of course any business is going to take money to start. Most businesses require parts of what you just listed. It's just that cannabis is still a risk federally. Cannabis is extremely lucrative so that profit is offsets the initial cost of things. IF you want to be part of this game you got to step up. There is soooo many jobs in this industry. Think of how you can apply your skills instead of complain. That being said i dont deny that there is a massive upfront cost im just saying the rewards pay off for the people risking the capital. I have no interest in starting my own dispensary or legal grow in any state so your assumption is just that, an assumption. I grow for personal use in Colorado and I think anyone who is interested in cannabis should grow their own as well. And truth be told I don't support the exploitation of this plant and consumers by big business especially the wealthy who get in knowing its just for greed and profit rather than the love for the plant. Anyone can grow this, but just know to start a business like this you will be up against wealthy tycoons.

Vermont is starting to give out cultivation liscenses are the fees are very manageable and upfront capital cost is about the same cost as other businesses(under 50k for entry level). To do it solo might be tough but as an adult if you have skills to bring to the table, then usually you can find an investor who has no idea about cannabis and just want the ROI. My view is that there will always be a market for top tier craft cannabis like there's a market for heady topper as well as budweiser. But that view might just because ima Vermonter
If you want to be successful in the cannabis industry then focus on your flower! Grow organically, keep politicians involvement in cannabis to a minimum, focus on the patients!

Drinking can have some very serious consequences but cannabis is proven to have I'll effects on a developing brain. It's proven so there is no real debate about it.
I've smoked weed everyday since I was 15 (35 now) and I have always been one to say it has had no effect on me. In reality though who knows what effects it had on me. There is no future me who didn't smoke weed to compare me to.
But both are bad for kids. That's the truth. Love weed but we have to be honest about it for the culture to fully change.

I'm 28 and smoked weed everyday since I was 13. I'm a heavy smoker now (3 - 5 gram a day) and I believe that smoking bud heavy before 18 does have some pretty bad effects. I find it very hard to cope with things and am very quick to fly in too a rage.
I love weed and cant ever see me not consuming it in 1 way or another but I do believe it is at the route of my problems.
But I am who I am and il carry on smoking.

@Deathand Taxes Production in itself does not generate pollution, so i'm guessinng that you mean pollution from power consumption due to the current method of power generation or ? Some strains are already adopted to colder climates and can be grown outside without the need for electricity, even here in the cold north. With the legalisation i bet further development will allow strains to be grown naturally in any climate condition, while retaining their potency. Of course homegrowers would rather save money on the electricity bill, and the high initial costs of equipment + maintanence, by growing naturally in a greenhouse or garden that they already own, more or less for free. Thus i believe your concerns are very much temporary.

It very well may be my past but once I got into the medicinal industry here in Maryland, it really hurt my heart to see how many ex cops and ex FBI were now in the business and seeing how they sort of treat it like a joke and only do it for the money all the while I KNOW personally some of these guys who treated marijuana users like trash people prior to the legalization of medicinal marijuana in my area. It was disgusting when I know many men and women who wouldn't get the chance to live out a dream and apply many years of valuable experience because of prior "drug" convictions related to marijuana. I hope this isn't the case everywhere but I did in fact see a lot of this in my area. I also read a comment on rich getting richer and sadly another thing I would agree with in my area, I've met and heard disgusting lies and slander towards "pot heads" from business owners and ideas of investing only to make a buck. That's why I won't PAY the government to enjoy what mankind should freely be able to access and enjoy. Yes I left what I thought would be a dream come true job of being a cultivator, I know many look at that as foolish and maybe stubborn but I will not lessen my morals and beliefs for a dollar. Side note I do not want to argue with anyone I am simply sharing some of my experiences and beliefs. Jah Bless.
100% BUT! The prior officers turned security guards and business owners ONLY followed the laws of their city while ticketing or jailing marijuana users. When the LAWS changed they followed them accordingly and started a new legitimate business. They followed the LAW and the CONSTITUTION by following the direction of the people in the city they work for. That means that they are true servants and officers of law.

@@rocketj2835 as someone who lives in TN we will probably be one of the last states to ever legalize it, Bill Lee has suggested some "pill form" type BS and still refuses to even think about legalizing it recreationally even though recent studies and surveys show an estimated 85% of the State wants it legalized while slowly more and more politicians on both sides are starting to become more open to it, its still going to take a long ass time sadly.

Marijuana has made it difficult to live in Denver, I know so many people who have been priced out and have had to move out of state. Cost of living has skyrocketed but wages haven't budged.

I was a kid when I started smoking weed and I grew up knowing that the most dangerous thing about weed was the law protection of youth might not be as big of a deal as it is made out to be
