Nicely done video. Clear and informative. Have you tried this with an acoustic guitar. I do some ELP and was wondering how this would work with my acoustic.
Great stuff Ryan, nice to see these new reviews in your easily digested style....looking for more from you, especially ehx's9 series as Ive got loads of ehx, behringer and tc electronic ,( far too many, says the missus), and my opinions vary wildly.......cheers H6UK (82)
Ryan , A little help if you would....When Itake a video on my camera ( Lumia 950), I shoot in in landscape mode. However, when I replay it or upload it, It comes out in portrait mode.... Baffled, just wondering how you keep the correct orientation on your uploads......happy weekend, more of your uploads to keep me awake !! Howard.
I don't use lumia sadly, it says online its a smartphone? it might be changing it from landscape to portrait because of that.. but if you shoot in landscape all the detail will be there it just needs to be switched back.. you'd be able to do this on any video editing software :)
@Philip Carter - I own most of these EHX "9" pedals and yes, you can use them for rhythm playing.....but in my experience they only sound authentic if you think like a keyboard player and only play 3 or 4 note chords. They don't sound too good if you play full 6 string chords or full barre chords. When you watch someone playing a keyboard they'll most likely use a 3 note triad with their right hand (root-3rd-5th for example) and a root note with their left hand. Copying this is the best way of using these pedals, and they can sound very good and pretty convincing as a keyboard player, but they can also sound pretty crap if you play them the same way as you'd play a guitar 👍
@@philcarter4541 No worries mate, once you get the knack of thinking like a keyboard player, these '9' pedals are great fun. I've got the B9, Mel9, Key9, and the Synth9 and if you're a 1 man guitar & bass band like me, you can lay down some pretty authentic tracks with some keyboards & midi drum sounds 😎👍
Bad design. This unit needs a preset/store capability so you can save settings once you dial them in the way you want them. Too much of a hassle to dial them in on the fly.
Ryan I can always count on you for the most thorough, informative and helpful with regard to purchase decisions, on all of RUclips.
Big thanks man, this is the kind of detail I need to see.
The best review I've seen

I'll try get around to more EHX 9 series, My favourite pedal ever is an EHX pedal gotta love em! Thanks for the comment, More videos on the way! :)
@@RyanLutton Which one? :)
@@StankoAx the original EHX HOG :) also in my top 5 is my Deluxe Memory man.. love ehx!
Got this one, it would be great if the pedal had an input for expression control and effect change
very true! :) maybe when they do the Synth10 theyll add it haha
does this mean it's not sensitive to velocity? sorry slightly confused by expression control
@@uptimemusic3627 by velocity do you mean portamento and vibe speed?
This is a great pedal made better by delay and reverb. Its just got some competition from the Boss SY1 which is actually a bit cheaper.
Determined to demo the SY1 before the end of the year and if i get to it its gunna be one long video haha
I just wish I could get hold of one!
Can you get close to the Judas Priest - Out in the cold intro sound with this you think?
Great demo...but any reason why the synth setting didnt go beyond 12 position??
that controls the synth sound volume on most settings and I was happy with the levels :)

Hi. Can this pedal get a similar synth sound of the roland JV 1080 and the yamaha DX 7 synth? Thanks a lot...
r these any good through a p.a. or keyboard amp or r they limited to guitar amps?
Nice! This is one of my dream pedal...
Go with the Boss SY 1. Many more features and options.
@@Mesa3077Boogie been checking out the SY-1. Sounds great with more features as well, sad to say it isn't available in the Philippine market...
i have it but the best sounds i have are with the midi
not this pedal
Wow, it has an emulation of the Prophet 5..
Is this not suitable for rhythm playing? None of the demo's I've seen show any serious strumming. Missing out on a lot of sales.
