This feels like the version that plays when the entertainer has a gun pointed to his head.
Pap nice comment.
Yes
Or a whip
Sleepingegg You cant point a whip! It would just flop down into the dirt like this comment should.
And at 0:56 he fires the gun into the piano.
me: *shows up to jazz band audition*
creator of this video: *is playing*
me: *leaves*
and you wouldn’t make it because none of this is improvised. Anyone could play this if they spent enough time on it, but actual jazz isn’t just playing what’s on the paper.
@@SEVERiNpark If this dude could arrange this, he could definitely use those riffs in improvisation
> *Already a difficult song to play*
> *makes it even more difficult*
Tyler Rivera thanks for the comment!
Jacob Koller / The Mad Arranger haha no problem, thanks for responding, and keep up the work!
I think the entertainer was really easy for me. this will be a really fun challenge
JaGoMo good luck!
I thought the entertainer was a beginner song. I learned it after only 5 years of playing
I'm proud of myself for just being able to follow the sheet music
Same lololol
riiiiiight?
1:01 and 1:25 some compound time shit happening. I would need to change my meds to duplicate this
if you mix enough ritalin and cocaine you might get there
Sassy The Irish
I have a prescription for ritalin and my sister is a drug dealer. I'll get back to you with the results of the experiment
Hi Zach. Interesting Seeing you here. :)
Zachary Taylor
Whoa.
lololol

there you go
I see a wedding ring... any man who can pull this off and still have time for a wife deserves our respect...
Are you assuming he’s straight?
Sean Lynch that's the general assumption, yes
TheAndrewDan he's married to the piano
i'm sure with fingers like those, his wife must absolutely LOVE him, if you know what i mean( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@seanlynch2535 Are you assuming he isn't?
0:47 My grades in the middle of the school year
IM SCREAMING 😂
💀
Descending. Jazz. chords. Emphasis on DESCENDING.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have been playing the piano professionally for over 30 years, and rarely does something blow my mind. THIS BLEW MY MIND. Just awesome.
On a scale of 1 to WatchMojo, I rate this a "Top 10 Intense Anime Fights" out of 10.
bsharpmajorscale best comment ever xD
holy cringe
bsharpmajorscale LMAO
***** Hmm. It's a toss up between Jay, pee and tea.
Dinkelstein Kerman definitely fish
Hands down best arrangement of the entertainer I've ever heard.
Oh hey
Way over-arranged, loses the simplicty and richness of the original version.
I prefer the original arrangement.
Maybe hats
I like hats too
I love that there's sheet music laying on the floor by his feet.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Careful dude. Putting the word "difficult" in your title means that some talentless assholes will tell you how unimpressive you are. I beg to differ. This was very impressive and I would also classify it as "insanely difficult." I challenge anyone else to do this. After all, they have the music right here. Very nice job.
Wes Tolson thanks man. I just put that in the title because this arrangement kicks my ass. It's so hard to play it through with high energy and feeling and still play accurately. Especially the last 1:30. So many people say it's not that hard yet I've never heard any of them try to play it. I'd love to hear someone do it as fast and as clean or cleaner than me. Anyway. Really appreciate the comment!
Jacob KollerMusic It looks like a hellish arrangement, and hats off for doing such an amazing job on it.
Wes Tolson it's difficult, but INSANELY difficult... hmm
But I digress
I'm a talentless asshole and I fully endorse this arrangement
Nobody said that though, you are arguing against your own hypothetical prediction of others' negativity
Yo this is amazing. You have real talent. How in the world can anyone play this? Great job!
Put up or shut up. It's freaking hard.
bun84067 I think what he's trying to say is if you have a deep understanding (and ability to play) Jazz chords/arpeggios/scales/improv then looking at the sheet music is significantly less scary. I have virtually no knowledge of any of this, so therefore the sheet music looks quite terrifying (Even tho I can play the entire original Entertainer piece and added in my own flairs) xD
ThornyForZyra wow lol
GameZ 4 Fame practice. That's all. And having complete control over the piano. That's it really.
Not talent. Years of practice.
I love the contrast between the friendly, satisfying sound of ragtime up against the new non-diatonic jazz harmonies.
1:56 Hit the road Jack? 😂
It wasn't intentional but it is the same chord progression. However, that's a really standard chord progression used in many many songs.
Ya like jazz?
And cocaine...

Blowtorch the Robot You must now acquire a taste for free form jazz
Actualy, it's called ragtime
Insane. Did you arrange this?
Yes I did. Thanks for listening!
dude the harmonics in this one are brilliant :) great Job !!!
Thanks for the comment!
Bravo!!! I would like this (more easy) for flute quartet... Brazil..
omg...you know your harmony thing...amazing job and nice voicings!!!
This was my aunt's favorite piece of music, when she died the music has never left the stand. It's been their for about 20 years
I can't begin to explain how talented this guy is, all his covers never fail to blow me away
how long did you need to practice on this?
I could play it more or less after a couple of weeks of practice but it took me a year of performing and practicing it before I could make it through cleanly at this tempo. Maybe it doesn't look too hard to some people but there are some parts of this arrangement that are really technically challenging to play accurately.
Jacob KollerMusic I have played the original version. But if compared to this, this is much difficult than the original
Jason 4K Its not too hard actually, about the same level as an easier Beethoven Sonata
But for most people it would be pretty tough
I've played most of the Beethoven Sonatas when I was in high school and college and it's so hard to compare them to this arrangement but I can assure you this is much more difficult then an easy Beethoven Sonata. There are a lot of techniques in here that aren't in any Beethoven piece like parallel 4th harmony, parallel chromatic triads, odd time signatures, jazz harmony, complex syncopation etc.
How the actual fuck
The piano never been touched like that before.
Nincadalop i hope that piano was iver 18
thomas must now leave
This comment deserves more likes
That run at 2:20 is so pleasing
The entire piece is amazing but that part really got my attention
I get mario vibes and undertale vibes and all the vibes from this piece
I also thought of Mario!
the undertale soundtrack has a lot of swing infulences, wich is sort of the same direction this is headed.
More like, mario and undertale have The Entertainer vibes. This is a famous piece that is over 100 years old.
Saposhiente THANK YOU
Sopshiente Yes, but this isn't the 120 year old arrangement; this arrangement was done at least 30 years after the advent of Mario.
I love it, especially the part at 2 minutes mark
8o8inSquares Same, it's my favourite part. Especially 2:33
the triplets are so well done thats probs why
You must love hit the road jack then. lol
it sounds like that song right!?
Obey its the same chord progression
This is such an interesting arrangement and totally deserves even more views!
That was impressive. I don't usually go for arrangements that bascially re-write a piece of music, but you stayed true to the original enough while make it brand new. BRAVO!
Anyone else think it sounds like music from a Mario boss?
Anthony Almodovar Now that I think about it..
I was looking for that one song with dramatic build up that everybody knows but I don't know the name of.
george eskiadis Ever play Mario Kart 8 or Super Mario 3D World?? Jazz orientated soundtracks, bud. Video games are more than just a child's play thing.
Thank youuu ^
"Almodovar"
lo , i was thinking the same thing
his hand moved so fast, he broke the video barrier.
Awesome. As a jazz pianist myself, I really
appreciate what you have put into this.
Thank you so much!
0:46 I think we know what the biggest bruh in history is.
What?
what an exciting and fantastic arrangement! thank you so much, you made my night :)
Insane indeed! This was fun to listen to. Well done ☺
Incredible, such musicality, expression and technicality beautifully coexisting in price together as one. Amazing job, thank you for blessing us with this work!
If Scott Joplin could've heard this back in his day I think he would've really dug it and enjoyed your arrangement & performance immensely! Nice job here!
This may be the closest thing I've ever seen to Black MIDI in real life.
ruclips.net/video/-y5h0jCnvFM/видео.html
when i first saw this midi i thought it was impossible for a human to play
Check out "Feux Follets" or "Rondo Fantastique El Contrabandista" by Liszt.
Sounds like "The Entertainer" as arranged by Dave Brubeck.
I mean that as the highest of compliments, by the way. Well done, man.
Shrigis Nah, it needs some semi-creepy yet smooth sax to go along with it.
Kurt Roundstone Haha, true enough.
It IS "The Entertainer". Just harder....
More like Oscar Peterson.
i just came back to this after seeing it in my recommended a couple years ago.... best 4:11 min ever spent in my entire life oh my gosh
Wow Thank you so much!
By far the best performance I have heard Jacob play so far! Love this song, and He really did it so much justice, and brought back some really good memories from my childhood.
2:15-3:00. whaaaa?
jonathan wright more like "0:00 - 4:12 whaaaaa?"
Daimond He means that it sounds like hit the road Jack instead of the entertainer
when you said that, it really does sound like that :D
Devastator oml it does
That's so odd
It just ended up sounding like Hit the Road Jack and Mario Bros music compiled together
One of the coolest things I've ever seen. What an arrangement! Jacob's got a handle on things I see in the music department.
This is friggin' incredible. After your awesome first session of 3-week online course on Sunday, I've been binging (and re-binging) your videos. Impressive x 1000000, Jacob!!
omg this is amazing. The low notes seem a bit heavy and overpowering in contrast to mids and highs... but I am simply, confoundedly and completely amazed by this composition. THIS is music.
checkmate athiests
After listening to this, I now believe in god! 😩😩😩👌👌👌
👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
Unoriginal comment
LOL. What?
Fine you proved that satin can write sheet music :(
This was really nice, so I subscribed.
One thing that a lot of people that do "variations" do is basically scale or detempo the theme. I'm glad you had fun with this piece by straying away from the theme in certain parts and thought you almost made it a piece of your own. Cheers!
Somehow this arrange crooks the happy, unworried pretty mood of the original into a very violent, contrasted color. Almost like a insane monster contained within the performer, struggling to follow the original harmonics, while enjoying every now and then the tiny oportunities to give his input. I totally loved this piece.
the middle is dope
edit: its all dope
Thank you!
don't tell me this is faster than flight of the bumblebee
and I love that glissando
winter wind is harder
feux follets is harder
Chopin/Godowski Study op 10 no 1 is harder
ok lets be serious here, there are tonnes of hard songs harder than any of the previously metioned but we just dont know. i mean i am sure some of lizst pieces are unplayable by even the best pianists today...
Eargasm at 1:55
:3
kungsledden1 ye
That was truly insane Jacob. I can't wait to check out more of your stuff.
I love the harmony! I can never think of this kind of chords when I'm writing... Will have to listen to more jazz!
It doesn't have that upbeat feeling like ragtime songs are supposed to have, but pretty impressive nonetheless!
KraZboY thanks for the comment. My idea was to take the melodic elements of the piece and rearrange it in a completely different style. I think his song is so catchy and the character of his motives are so strong that it works in a completely different style other than ragtime. Same melody in a completely different light was my intention.
Jazz and ragtime aren't supposed to sound different.
Sam Eash well you cant necessarily put jazz into a category. It's so broad and expandable that it can relate to any genre of music
Dill Pickle Sure I can.
Sam Eash well there are many types; of course the stereotypical jazz coming from dominant sevenths like Duke Ellington, some cut-time like Spain, even more "heavier" like Percolator, some like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and I've even heard of Celtic jazz. Jazz is the broadest genre of music because it is so diverse and laid back. One cannot simply put jazz as a whole into a category.
The left hand looks like it's having a seizure oh my god
My LH is tired after playing this.
I would think so.
I just love that switch to blues it's a great fill for such a masterpiece (in C)
Marvellous playing and a wonderful arrangement! I loved it. You technique is good...v good!
Thank you. That was really entertaining :)
This man just played black midi with his hands lol
Absolutely loved the Polyrhythms and the left-hand ostinato...
Seriously impressive stuff Jacob. Loved every minute of it!
Oh and I just learned how to play The Entertainer in my level 1 book... Thanks for making my accomplishment less accomplishing.
Still great arrangement though
How long did it take you to learn it? And when did you start playing?
That Alfred book?
I like the part from 1:57 to 2:55 the most!
I will definitely use some of these variations in own improvisations
楽譜と鍵盤の同時表示で、とても参考になりました。演奏も、とても素敵でした。
This is super impressive! The fact that you arranged this yourself is amazing!
Great! Left hand somehow reminds of Super Mario :)
He plays so damn fast, his fingers are breaking the space time barriers making them look distorted
Every part of this sort of puts the audience in a whole new ambience or "world" or something, I don't know how to describe it exactly. It's like you take us with you on a journey all around the world, landing in different places, only to unexpectedly start traveling again. It's really fun :) I personally have quite a short attention span, so the variation and unexpected twists and turns are what keep me interested in music. Thanks for uploading!
Wonderful arrangement . Love the left hand stride !
You sir, are talented
Never before have I heard so many wrong notes makes so much sense...
Amazing ! so much things to listen & learn!
I like how he mixed different genres like electric swing, ragtime, i heard a little bit of boogie woogie in there
this sounds like battle music to a video game boss
Cuphead, maybe?
the best arrangement ever made!!!!Bravo!!!!
Omg the story this arrangement has is beautiful you can feel it. Thank you for this.
I'm out of breath just listening to it! Awesome stuff!!! I don't play piano, but do read music (high school clarinet/sax player in the 60's and 70's). I cannot imagine trying to play something like this!
Thank you so much!
I don't know if I should cry, or be happy about that, what this brilliant guy is doing... :/
Thanks! Do whatever feels natural...
when you're going to play the entertainer but you're thelonious monk and also on speed
Cool description.
This is awesome! I used to play piano, and remember struggling with just the regular Entertainer...
absolutely amazing super impressive great work
I SWEAR I THOUGHT I HAD THE VIDEO SPED UP TO x2.0
Aqil Kamaludin but it really is
A large number of piano youtubers select the option to go faster when they are editing, so people can think that they are better
I think it is sped up. Starting at 0:54, it just sounds very much like it is.
Dear God man. This is still the most amazing piano arrangement I have ever heard. Every time I watch this, I am completely encapsulated in the sound. Magnificent!
Thank you so much. I'm no god that's for sure but thank you!
Oh man, with skills like that? Are you sure? lol
Thanks for the reply! I can't believe it's been over a year since I first stumbled across this masterpiece. Are you playing any venues or in any ensembles?
I absolutely loved this!! I can't wait to print out the sheet music and start working on it. This will be a great song to do auditions with :) keep up the good work
Brilliant arrangement. Love it.
Congratulations. You're a fuckin genious.
Auri Ámbar Damn right he's a genius! ;-)
WOW.
Masterly: Joplin would be super happy. Sumptuous jazz harmony and an incredible sense of musical balance.
This is amazing! great work!!
*Holy shit it's amazing*
0:46 Entertainer from hell
That's a cool title. Maybe I'll redo it with that in mind.
Sounds sinister btw
Just wow! It's brilliant! Bravo!
Mad talent!!! Cant stop listening
When you at a foreplay and the one before you plays like this
Ight imma head out
Relatable
MAH would probably sight-read this and play this with half a brain and only one hand easily --- but then again it's MAH ;) I somehow like the arrangement. And there are some really cool chords in there!
some lol? theres a shit load
Actually, I would have to practice quite a bit in order to play this arrangement as well as Jacob does. I tried an attempt at levity. For me, "Insanely difficult" is a funny expression for a musical piece, as there are difficulties in so many ways. Well, didn't go that well. PS: Marc-André Hamelin is a fantastic pianist. The way he plays Percy Grainger is amazing.
you are such an amazing talent! you’re so terrific
Most excellent! Well done!!!
Hey, this song is in Read Dead Redemption as background music in the cinema!
DarthUno and in the racing game..gran turismo
If Joplin and Kapustin had a love-child......
kds58 SO, SOOOO TRUE.
kds58 very good joke! I like it
this is incredible, so beautiful and complex as well
It is really cool! What a great arrangement!
