Jazz isn't restricted to sheets like classical music. It's more on improvisation. Some jazz musicians have a chord progression to play with, but everything above that is played on the spot
To Timmothy and Brent: it’s not lost on the majority of classically trained pianists that “true” jazz piano music is done by ear and improvised on the fly. However, it is no crime at all for them to want play music written *in the style of jazz*, nor for people like the Mad Arranger to develop and release scores in this manner. So if you’re trying to troll, give it up.

Somehow Jacob Koller's videos never cease to amaze me. I really love the way he has his own unique style, but sticks to the trad jazz roots at the same time. It sound like something straight from a smoky Manhattan bar in the 50's.

I had a girlfriend once who was a classical pianist. Her contribution to my life was teaching me the art of the sustain pedal. A good pianist uses it as a crutch. A great pianist uses it for its intended purpose. Bravo!

When making music I would usually make the accompanying melodies and loop them.. This guy did that with his hands for 3 minutes straight..I thought this was a myth..I guess he is legend.. hahaha really amazing...definitely losing my self confidence

I know you don't take requests, but still i want to tell you about a song i found and right after hearing it the first thing i thought was "this song needs a Jacob cover". Is "Here comes a thought" from the cartoon Steven Universe. It has a very wide and loyal fandom, and that particular song is a favorite for many people. If you could get the chance to see its music video, you would find it really beautiful as many of SU fans do. Let the song speak for itself, it is truly a wonderful, lovely and beautiful theme on love, understanding and relationships.

Time signature basically determines how you count the notes and how many notes are in each bar (bar is the smallest section of a song) , if you pay a little attention you'll notice that the song suddenly completely changed its rhythm after almost two minutes. That's a time signature change.

try syncopated rythmes to get ready. jazz is a lot more to do with feeling then reading :)

That's funny. It's a hard bass line to hum because it uses such a wide range. Yeah people think I'm weird when I try humming some of my arrangements.
I've no idea why this piece is difficult, but I recognize a boppin', toe-tappin' tune when I hear one!
Why so difficult? Mad key signature changes, very complex rhythm and being technical in general.

As a recording engineer, I have 2 questions. What brand and model is this piano? Where are you hiding the microphones?
Maybe there's a self-contained digital recorder hidden inside the piano. Or the audio recording was made separately.
Could be wireless mics in the piano.
Could be a mic set just above frame to the right of the picture.
It's a clever placement if it is, because there's no boom shadow on the ground.
