Absolutely agree with you on the pros of C/C filling system. It's very inexpensive to repair or replace without having to send the pen in, wait countless months and paying a lot of money for the repair. Many of us carry/ink up multiple pens anyway so ink capacity issue is also shouldn't be a huge deal in my opinion.

The SBRE Brown ink is amazing in that pen! Nice shading! Nice nib too! thanks for showing how this pen writes! :)

Thanks, Doc. Always enjoy your reviews and humor. Nice looking pen (I do like it with the ruthenium trim)!!

I have their elastic f nib on a Momento Magico, with the gold coating over steel, and it similarly requires some pressure to get much flex from it. But it has a nice springiness even when not pushing for line variation - it won't ever compete with a Pilot FA nib, or anything vintage flex, but it's really lovely to write with. Nice review on this one.

I was just going to ask dear Doctor this specific info. I have several pilot FA nibs and love them. I use them every day and they’re pretty wonderful. I also have 912 Falcons fine and extra fine. I’ve been looking at another Leonardo $$$ piston filler 14 K elastic nib, fact feed. I wonder if anyone has tried that one? (Like the Leo Bohemian?) I’d also like to know how they compare to the Scribo Feel 14 K flexible nib? Unfortunately, I cannot afford to own them all so depend on the dear doctor and people like you to help me out with this. I love the writing experience that each pen offers. Mostly I love a nice flexi.🦊🤔

Thank you for another wonderful review!I am wondering how the threads are and such.
When I got my first MZ it still had the all resin section but everything was smooth and perfect... Except for the nib. Every pen I bought from Leonardo after got worse and worse quality wise.
The pens are pretty but the threading is horrible and the metal threads grind the rain ones so I constantly have silicone grease on my hands, I guess they make their mind for right handed people because 5 for 5 out of the box they were either out of alignment, the tipping welded on lopsided, or just plain unusable. The only Leonardo nibs I have that wrote "out of the box"are the two "elastic" steel replacements I ordered.
And now they're gluing the section collar in do instead of just swapping nibs you have to pull and reset them.
The worst was I got a momento zero grande hoping it would be better. The steel nib was ok but the nib and feed were totally set wrong and as soon as I tipped it to write ink flowed out all around the nib and feed... Every where except from where it should...I had to pull and replace/set a different job on that too make it work at all as well. But the diameter of the feed is still just a couple a microns to narrow so I can't carry/use it outside the house because of it's on it's side or upside down in a pen case for too long it gets board and starts to fill my cap with ink!
Sorry this is so long but I have strong feelings about this...
Love SBRE reviews, in sure the guy is pretty swell in real life too but to me Leonardo has just become a "discount Visconti" in a Delta's clothing. Buyer beware... Bye 🐢👋

    Thanks for the good review.
I have this pen in exactly the same colour / trim combo. I can second some of the writing characteristics. It has feedback and you need to apply quite some preasure to get line variation. In my normal writing I hardly get any, but then again, it does have some spring to it making it a comfortable writer. Yes, the edge of the barrel is pretty sharp but when I hold the pen, my fingers don't touch the sharp edge so I have no problem with it.

Great review, thank you. That is a very attractive pen, but I'm not sure the vapor distribution finish really belongs on a flexible nib. The exotic metals they use as a coating tend to be extremely hard, which also means brittle. This doesn't combine well with the flexible base metal being coated.

Can you swap the nibs with these and other #6 nibs?

I have a few pens with flush caps/barrels, each with a smaller step than the Supernova, but they're all ebonite - so it may be you can get away with a thinner wall in ebonite than in resin. If so, it would be interesting to see an ebonite version of the pen with a smaller step. Thanks for the review!

A nice Autumn brown pen. I'd prefer a piston filler system with a 1.5 stub or Broad nib. The band and flush cap & barrel set up works for me. I get the point.

I do so enjoy your reviews. I think they are quite nice, in fact. 😉 That is a beautiful pen, though with that step and the stuff nib I’d like to try it before thinking about buying it. Maybe with a regular fine … hmm.
Thank you for another video that taught me things while making me laugh.

Does the elastic nib come in a non-coated version?

I think the L. Supernova is a bit short uncapped. If the grip section is a bit longer then it would most likely solve the problem of the problematic step down.

How does it compare to the MZ and the MZ Grande? It seems to be between the two.

  • @herbertschulz9468

You could bevel the step down so it isn't so sharp. Of course you would want to bevel the indse of the cap to match.

Does the pen have a threaded converter, please, or is it a friction-fit one? If you said it, and I missed it, sorry 😢

it's not a flex nib but elastic nib so you shouldn't push hard.
