I really enjoyed and found this very helpful Chef AJ! It made things alot clearer to me now. I am 80 lbs overweight and an addict. I will tackle the addiction and then the weight loss.
I want to tell you that this Community right here is the only source of support I have! The fact that you do more shows this time of year help me tremendously, thank you! I think you should make more of these-starring you!
This is what keeps me motivated and supported. I don't feel alone because I can relate to you and your guests!
Thank you for what you do!!

Chef aj, it's not as though your guests are not informative or interesting but it was so nice to just listen to you. I started following you about 4 years ago when I asked one of my daughters what she was doing after her marathon training run and she said watching Chef AJ. I said who is Chef AJ? From you, I learned how to water saute and get the confidence to cook SOFAS free. Thank you and best on your new venture!

Ohh wow, Chef AJ, you talking about addressing one thing at a time: addiction vs. weight-loss...with addiction being the 🐘 in the room...really was a light bulb moment for me. Never thought of them as separate skills (juggling/riding a unicycle). Totally makes sense. Thank you for that explanation. Thank you.

I SOooooo appreciated that 1 sentence, HUGE GEM for me right now in the space that I'm in:
That food addiction + weightloss are 2 different problems that need addressing. Even though they are tied together, they are not necessarily the same... I gotta go back and write it down word for word and meditate on that. Thanks Chef AJ! 👩‍🍳

Wow, I do appreciate your talking about sugar addiction because I am certain it was the source of my morbid obesity. Becoming a vegan in 2020 and eating fruit everyday helped with my addiction. But it is still a temptation and if I eat anything I go through withdrawal for at least a week! I always have dates in my freezer in order to make sweet treats and it has changed my life. Halloween is a problem because it shows up in the stores at the end of August! Crazy!

Thank you so much Chef AJ. I learn something new every time I watch your show. Thanks for the agave fact. I thought it was a good substitute until today. And I never realized you took a slow journey. I knew you took a while to lose the weight but did not realize you didn’t eliminate everything all at once. To be honest that makes me feel so much better. I am grateful for all you do. I know it must be frustrating to see people go back to their old ways; I appreciate that you have found another way to help others. And you may have found another solution for folks that is key. (I think it makes a lot of sense)!?! I will be getting this cookbook, probably for my birthday.

Watching the replay and oh, I wish I had caught this live!! First time I've watched a video of you about YOU - not that I don't enjoy the interviews, but you know what I mean! Your comment about dates looking like cockroaches made me chuckle - I STILL think that sometimes!!! Sugar was the easiest of the SOS for me to quit in some ways, because fruit is such an easy substitute. Whereas it took more adjusting for me in terms of oil and especially salt. For me salt was definitely the hardest to quit!!

The upcoming Jewish holidays of Rosh Ha Shonah, Yom Kippor break- fast and then Succos I am the host/ cook. I have to refrain from baking, cooking, buying Vegan treats for me because I will start out of control spiral. So I already have a plan to cook compliant for myself, and my family will get their traditional ( non- vegan-non- compliant) kosher prepared foods. I will not try to please everyone with my cooking skills. Those days are done.

I've only been able to stop eating sugar for short periods of time, and I always fall off the wagon. I don't smoke, don't drink....but sugar (sweet treats like cookies) and Diet Coke. Those are my downfall.
