I’m always looking for TDI info so hopefully you keep up with these videos because they don’t get a lot of love here in America like the the gas burning vw’s do.
I will! I’m currently working on my mini and trying to get it done before H2oi BUT once that is done I’m most likely going to be focusing on just mods for the tdi. And you’re right the tdi is sort of forgotten so I enjoy making content on it! Haha
Feel free to pm me any questions you might have. The TDI culture here in Denmark is huge. You can't go to any car meet without hearing the Mating call of the howling tdi turbos everywhere :D I myself have a 1.9 tdi winter beater in an audi a4 b5 :D
@@patrickbernard5458 sold mine to my brother and getting into square body chevy scene. Always had a K5 jimmy but I just bought a 90’ suburban and plan on making it a overlander or daily trail rig. Chances a s10 blazer gets a tdi are good lol.
@@patrickbernard5458 I got some questions I just bought a TDI
@@giovannygrisales6022 shoot!!
To really hear the turbo scream, you’ll need to either pick up the neuspeed straight through turbo damper, or debaffle the stock one (route I went) you’ll be able to hear the veins release (orgasmic) and overall louder/smoother spool, my 13 golf currently has a borla 2.5” straight pipe catback and gutted the secondary cat along with a custom 4” intake I built, I understand you can’t do the cat and maybe they’d complain about the cat back when under warranty but for my county there’s no emissions testing so I’ll be doing a full emissions delete and Malone stg2 this week. Best of luck on your tdi ownership I do about 600 miles a week like you and I can proudly say that on a budget there isn’t a more fun car to own
Yes! That is the route I think I’m gonna go as well I had a buddy who told me about doing a turbo damper I believe he has the nuespeed one. Unfortunately here in jersey there’s emissions testing and what not so since it’s a daily I want to keep it simple you know? But your car is def gonna be super fun after the delete as tune . I know one day I’m probably gonna cave in and do it myself lol I know how I am.. and I agree these cars are very fun to drive I love every minute of it! And thank you man I hope your car treats you well I know you’ll have a great time after the delete and tune!
Not to be boastful butttt TEXAS ;)
Hahaha very lucky to be out there Texas is lenient on many things that’s the state of freedom
How did you de-baffle the stock one?
@@hayzeproductions7093 a Dremel with a hand full of different bits to cut the baffles out, sounds hard but once you have it off you'll see its really easy
I got a Mk5 tdi with cold air intake and catback straight pipe, not loud and the sound is just sweeeeeeet
Yeah they sound amazing. I keep going back and forth on deleting and straight piping my wagon
At 8:49 there is also another hose that is disconnected. What is the purpose of that hose? I found it disconnected on my jetta and am trying to figure out if damage has been done or not.
I love turbodiesel engines lol.... I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado 2.8 duramax diesel. I installed an S&B intake and it was great. It really woke up the engine and I use v power diesel fuel
Nice!!!!! No joke I love the new Colorado’s I’ve been so tempted to possibly get one in the future I love them haha .. one of my next future investments will absolutely be a pick up
Great install video! showing all the steps nice man!
Thanks man! I appreciate that!
I’m looking to get a VW so I’m binge watching as many as I can, thank you for uploading.
And your Audi is sick ! 🔥
Thanks man! I appreciate it.. and if you’re looking at tdis they’re great daily drivers
don't buy diesel if u don't make longer trips also they are verry limited for modifications it's better for u to get golf gti u have plenty of mods for them if u are from europe and u looking engine parts i recomand u to look at bar-tek website up there u can get almost everything for vw cars (parts for diesels are much more uncommon)
Love the turbo spool.
Same haha just took the car for a spin the intake makes a world of a difference with induction noise
I used PVC plastic piping and heat fabric tape to cover it
That’s actually a good idea haha
Stock intake box has two air flow channels, one for engine, and another hose goes in to that box from the engine. You left it unplugged, what this hose exactly there for? Should I buy a new longer hose and connect it to that new intake box?? Thanks for answers!
8:08 you can see it under the MAF
Great video man! Install was very detailed and it sounds great.
Thanks I’ll have 2 more TDI videos out next week!
If you want too rev it higher in park turn off traction control and you can rev it too limiter
Also very true! Haha only reason I didn’t is because the neighbors behind my house are extremely anal with my cars and I didn’t wanna disturb them😂
Yeah man! Nice sounds. Hopefully a little giddy up.
Thanks! And yes it does make the throttle feel a bit more peppy but i doubt it added much power if any haha
Would you say it's worth picking up? Do you get enough turbo noise or whoosh sound to justify it? I'm right on the fence of picking it up!
In my honest opinion it is worth it ..throttle response is def better when putting your foot down and I think it has just enough of a whoosh sound to justify haha now mind you it isn’t an over bearing obnoxious blow off sound but at the same time you can def notice the induction when your foot is in it as well as the whose when letting off throttle !
Awesome! Thanks so much for the reply! Hope to see more videos on the Sportwagen!
Yes! Go for it man haha anything to make the car sound better and be more fun to drive and yes more videos are coming hopefully end of this week and next week as well!
Congrats on the hot air intake
you’re not wrong at all haha
Did you notice any negative effects on fuel consumption / power / any lights come up on dash? Thanks man
I haven’t noticed anything negative so far at all with the mpg it seems the be constant.. and no lights have come on the dash at all and I drive this thing like 400-500 miles a week so I totally recommend it !
Also power wise I didn’t notice really anything..throttle response is better I will say and you get the satisfying “whoosh” when letting off the gas or shifting gears!
Is your TDI post diesel gate update? If so, what’s your MPG like with the filter?
@@jayv4414 i have a CAI and my sportwagen is post diesel gate. my mpg is like mid 40's
\ g h o s t e d \ oh damn, mine only gets 36 MPG. I don’t have an intake though
Did u notice that hose on the bottom of the intake? What did u do with that?
Yes the hose I pulled Off and left it ..all it is, is a tube that sends heat to the intake system to warm the engine up a little quicker..it won’t throw a code or anything for it not being connected and the car drives normal as well and I haven’t seen a difference in warm up time so far tbh maybe in the winter a little but I think it’ll be ok haha
@@DArias Good to know! I think il route it out by the wheels
How is ur engine bay so clean????
I wish! Lol
Tell us the difference number wise
Are you referring to horse power gains?
DArias_ yes
Question.. 8:44 there is a white hose underneath your intake, it’s disconnected. Did you know this?
Do you know you can turn your traction control off for higher rpm’s while revving
Yes I do haha but it’s in my driveway and my neighbors are a bit annoying sometimes so I didn’t wanna rev it out multiple times and have people bitch so I just revved it low
How do you do this on a MK6 tdi jetta? I heard you can bypass something but it requires some wiring stuff and then restarting the car
Are you referring to the intake install or being able to rev the car as much as you want while in neutral
Hey at 8:45 there is a smaler hose under the air intake hose. What is it for?
That hose transfer engine heat into the stock air box to let the car warm up a bit faster but it’s not needed.. some people leave the hose attached hanging below the aftermarket intake and some people just remove the hose all together.. personally the car warms up in the same amount of time either way so it’s not necessary!
@@DArias Would it be possible to custom make a tube that takes the hot air and sends it out the bottom of the engine bay? Just to keep it cool.
Just got a tdi I’ll be doing this!
Dud u left a house under your massairintake open, what duse that do can you just leave that open?
Yes that hose transfer heat to the intake to warm the engine up quicker in cold weather. People either pull it off completely or point the hose to the ground
Ok thx for the Quick respond. Well in that case it works to just place a filter on it so sand and dust dont get in there.
Great video!
Thanks man!
Any issues with rain ?
Not at all which is great!
Why would there be
Some people worry about going through a puddle and such which I guess is understandable when the intake is routed by the lower front grille haha
nice video
what about the other intake pipe?
Which one ?
@@DArias smaller under the main air intake
Great question
The turbo inlet pipe.
@@christopherrunning7685 Any final ideas?
Sounds much better
Agreed! The flutter is way louder while driving too so it’s worth it haha
Hey man. I've been watching your videos since im looking for my first car. I want an r56 2012 S. I want to get the car loud but not insanely droney and obnoxious with burble. (But ofc i still want some pops and bangs.) Do you think I should just cut the muffler and connect like a 3" Y pipe, and not mess with the cats or resonator?
Tbh most of the pops and bangs are super loud and noticeable with a cat and secondary cat. So my recommendation would be to get w cat less downpipe and remove the secondary cat and you can keep the stock catback and you should get some nice pops and you’ll even probably be able to shoot some flames here and there. With the cats in you will get some nice pops here and there but it’s def easier without that !
DArias_ Thanks, so with the catless downpipe, will there be no tune needed since its only deleting the one cat or what? Or maybe I have false information on needing a tune with a catless downpipe
DArias_ Also won't that run rich?
The ecu will adjust accordingly to the mods after some driving is done.. you will get full benefit from it if you do a tune so it is best to do a tune so you get the positive effects of the mods you choose to do
DArias_ alr thanks so much bro
I came to your video because i remember seeing the breather looking spring tube under the silver intake pipe. I’m installing my intake and didn’t realize to look but does that hose just stay free or does it connect to something else?
IM PISSED OFF THEY ALL SAY THEY WONT FIT MY VEHICLE I HAVE A 2011 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 SE ANY CLUES YOU CAN TELL ME ANY ONE ??
is this the 2.0 140 ps TDI or 1.6 90ps TDI Mk6?
With my VW caddy 2.0tdi CLC with the intake on I can not go pass 140km the engine light comes on with the stock airbox and a b.m.c filter in the airbox I can go 200km I do have a software and Down pipe and egr delete and on the Dyno with stock airbox I am making 140kw and 450nm. When the light comes on with air-intake I use vcds to check the fault it says overboost
When letting off gas and the turbo spools with the new intake do you hear the woosh when the windows are closed or is similar to when u had it stock and can barely hear the turbo with the windows closed, great video btw very in depth and detailed
Thank you man! Appreciated ... but when the windows are closed it sounds a little more on the faint side but it’s still noticeable.. obviously with the windows down it’s pretty loud and noticeable..did you do the intake ? Or you’re debating on doing it ?
Diego Arias im on the verge of doing it just trying to find the best possible intake i could get to get the loudest result off the spool but thanks man keep up the good work!!
Do you need a tune after this install?
A tune would be nice but it’s not necessary.. the ecu will compensate for the change in airflow the engine gets. Tune will give you the full benefit of all the mods you do though
Volkswagen computers are pretty smart it’ll be fine after you drive it a little
Absolutely 100% true
What size is the pipe that connects to the maf sensor struggling to find the right size pipe
If you’re referring to the intake pipe then it is a 3 inch diameter pipe
Do you have the link of your intake ?
We have the exact same engine soo I want the perfect fit like you

Super super super simple, but made it look tricky
I just saw this. 5/11/21. Are you happy with the spool noise? Have you checked to see if you increased your MPG? I'm looking at getting the Volant 116206.
The noise is still great! and tbh the MPGs did increase a bit nothing crazy but a few MPGs here and there
Really nice install and it sounds nice too! This thing would be a beast with an upgraded turbo and some more mods haha
I would love to do more mods but then it starts shying away from being a daily and I’ve really tried to control myself in buying things for this 😂
Where did you get this and how much
Would it still be nice with a 1.6 tdi
Would you sell the me the peice that sucks in cold wait from the grill ?
Not really looking to sell the stock parts only because I may be upgrading soon to another daily and would revert back to stock
Okay, what is the point to this? Other than making the engine look "jacked with", does it help performance? I ask cause someone did this to my '14 Jetta TDI sedan and I'm trying to find the correct parts to put it back to OEM. Keep your parts so when you sell...
Just more turbo noise that’s it lol ...I’ve had it for a year now and no issues and I have the stock parts so I’m good with that I’m not too worried
@@DArias I do like the turbo noise... think I will keep it 'jacked up' - lol! I love the TDI!!

@@DArias thank 🙏 so much!
Any hp losses 1 year after? because i’ve heard these make you lose power
I’ll be honest I’ve never dynoed the car and I’m so used to it that it feels the same as it did since I installed it haha.. now the stock intake is good for a lot more power than stock but won’t give you the nice turbo sounds this intake would ...So it all depends on what you’re looking for
you do loose performance cause your drawing in hot engine bay air into the turbo. youll never see a high performance turbo car that isnt drawing in air from the outside,, thats why you see the turbo intake directly vented to the outside of car. get a kerma or uro intake. it mounts to the original intake port at front of vehicle..
Hey wondering if this is still running good and would this work fine for a 1.6tdi stage 1 150bhp?
does it worth installing? thinking throwing one in E220 CDI when i buy that bad boy.
Performance wise no because you won’t really gain anything but it looks nice in the engine bay and makes great turbo sounds
Is the starter under the air box my 14 tdi will not start just clicks battery seem ok
That’s correct and have you tested the voltage on the battery? Nothing is draining your battery without you knowing ? Try jump starting it. Could also be an alternator issue possibly
DArias_ thanks for reply ,no I haven’t check battery let, headlights are nice and bright and fan blower works fine ,I drove my car 45 min from my house to work everything was fine ,i then shut it off for 5 min .i went to restart it nothing just a click .i did try juggling the start/stop botton and the starter did crank one time
Please can you give me the link from the air intake ?
I have a golf mk7 1.6 tdi (stage 1, 150 bhp)
I want to improve the sound of the motor, turbo spool noises, just a bit of extra sound. What intake should I get?
Thank you.
Great vid!
I have a mk7 1.6 tdi I got a few stage one quotes but they all say 140bhp?
I think Revo gives a stage 1 with 150hp. You can look it up.
Maybe a panel type air filter? I would avoid KN though, they are way too open
@DArias Just watched this, did you have any problems with it this far? Assuming this was a daily driver? I just bought the intake and I’m nervous that I’m going to jeopardize the reliability of my car
where can i buy a tube like this (inox) thank you very much
What do you do with the unhooked hose underneath the intake tube next to the battery that was left unused?
So I personally just tucked it under pointing to the ground but you can also remove that hose and you’ll be fine.. it’s function is to run warm air through the stock intake when the car is cold to help warm it up faster
Awesome. I just installed it and wasn't sure about it thanks!
Got it man! Get ready for a bunch of loud turbo noises 😀 haha
What’s that little hose under the MAF? I have been confused on that with my intake install. Is it ok to leave open??
People either fully remove it or point it downward. That hose is used to transfer heat to the intake in cold weather to warm the engine faster but is not needed with an after market intake
@@DArias when I removed this hose to install the Injen intake, I noticed a lot of extra heat in the engine bay and it triggered code P0420. Have you had or heard of this issue?
hi! Can i buy this one for my seat leon fr? its 2.0 d 170 hp, and im from europe, do they ship this here? Thanks
what if i cant connect the breatherhose any problems?
Breather hose doesn’t get connected back with an aftermarket intake.. you can either take it off completely or you can take it and have it point downward to the ground .. that breather hose was only used to transport warm air to the intake on start up so the engine would warm up faster
@@DArias ok thanks
Is that 2.0tdi (cffb) ?
This is a CJAA
GOTTA ASK, and hopefully you reply.
Did you ever experience limp mode after doing this while driving on the highway? Mine keeps going into limp mode after 30 miles or climbing a hill on the highway. So i just keep the maf unplugged.
No sir never! I’ve had the intake on for over a year and 10k miles nothing issues at all.. is your filter oiled up? A lot of times oil gets applied to some filter on the markets and it can gunk of the maf causing issues.. you need a dry air filter..again that may be the issue
@@DArias It was a dry cone filter. and thanks for the fast reply! i will be looking into just buying a new one. I have sprayed it with maf cleaner before, didnt do any good.
Does that air intake also works on audi a3 2007 1.9?
Hey I have the same exact car, I was wondering if it’s possible to put a blow off valve in one of these?
Just to let you know, most turbos on a diesel do not have a blow off valve so it would be pretty hard and probably kind of pointless to install one aside from the noise.
Still have the stock one?
Somewhere in my basement yes lol
I'm a little hard of hearing so I can't hear the difference is there a difference for you when it comes to turbo noise?
When driving it’s very noticeable over stock I promise lol..unfortunately at the time my old neighbors behind me would complain whenever I do car things so I wasn’t able to rev it up high to hear the induction
Great thanks for the information. Definitely will get it.
Absolutely man!
Sounds sick
Thank you!! Much better when actually driving though haha
Where are you getting this kit ?
This was helpful for me.
So when you have removed the item shown from 4:30 in the video; The large plastic pipe to the left of it can be pulled out of the airbox connection point? Probably loosen something first, right?
Just pull it up and down and to the side, it will come off, it is on clamp.
Why did my check engine light come on after installing this
What code are you getting? Make sure your maf is properly connected also make sure your maf is in the right direction and not backwards
Never mind I got it scanned something was wrong with the mas air sensor
I’m just gonna remove it and look it over do it again
Yes! Make sure the maf is connected right and there’s an arrow on the maf itself that shows what direction it goes in. If backwards it’s won’t detect air right and cause a light
My stock air box set up makes for turbo noises than that injen?!
Is your idle tick over louder now?
It is a bit louder but not much more than stock
@@DArias 👍
Do you guys thinks I could install it to my Audi A6 C7 2.0 tdi?
I’m going to be honest I’m not 100% sure if it’s compatible but I’m sure they sell an option for the a6 as well
Is a 2012 passat TDI 2.0 a mk6?
The Passat equivalent of the mk6 if I’m not mistaken is the B7
sir i just bought a jetta 2012 2.0L I4 MPI, can u pls help me to find an air intake pls thankyou
Is there a cheaper option than this 300 intake? I want one but I don’t wanna drop 300 dollars just for some noise.
Some people just take off the oem filter part and clamp on a filter to the intake hose. Just have to make sure to have it tight or it can fall off
Is it tuned and stock exhaust? Do you plan on tuning or changing up the exhaust?
Yes tune and stock exhaust and tbh I’ve gone back and forth with wanting to do a dpf delete and then switching tuner since kerma doesn’t do tunes for non factory exhausts anymore but the car runs soo good rn that I have small desires to change things up
I've been going through the same thing. I don't know whether to get a kerma tune and leave it stock exhaust or not. Would you recommend the kerma tune?
Personally and totally unbiased.. my friend has a 2013 gold tdi that is fully deleted and Malone stage 2 and I rode in it and also drove it and I’m not gonna lie it felt pretty much the same to me and my kerma tuned wagon now yes it makes way cooler sounds and a nice rumble in the exhaust but idk of spending another $2k with exhaust and tune is justified.. like maybe it felt a little faster being the exhaust is fully opened up but idk.. we didn’t run our cars and such but soon we may just to see the outcome.. the dpf delete though absolutely makes the throttle a bit more responsive and sounds great but other than that I can’t say “oh Malone is way better” or “kerma is better” yadayada I feel it’s personal preference whenever someone asks me if I recommend kerma I say yes just because it’s a good aggressive tune that you can easily notice a difference in power
Will tdi intake fit a tsi motor ? Or vice versa 🤔
Unfortunately no the intake setups on the TDI and tsi engines are different
Sound doesn’t equal power...trust me as a fellow TDI owner you’re not going to get a better design then the factory air box...just put in a K&N air filter that fits in the factor box...those cone filters are way SMALLER then the factory filter element which means LESS AIR which translates into LESS POWER
Can it work with a passat?
Isn’t this a ram air not cold air I thought cold air intake was not in the engine bay more under neath the engine ??
The intake itself is labeled as a cold air intake but I do see where you can consider to be a short ram since it doesn’t replace the full tube from the top of the turbo all the way through.. I’m not sure what you mean by a cold air intake being under the engine though ?
Diego Arias fair enough and I mean not under the engine lol 😂😂 from what I have seen there normally behind the grill under the headlight we’ll the tube is anyway the filter it self is in the engine bay
Ohhhh ok lol yeahhhh there are different sorts of intakes that’s true even some with the filter at the bottom of the bumper etc. I mean I consider this to be a cold air intake but def you have a point of it looking like a short ram being the tube isn’t connected to the turbo itself with one pipe. You have a valid point
Diego Arias aslong as your happy with it and it does it’s job that’s all that matters 👊✌️ I was just trying to find a difference in ram and cai

I’m pretty sure you just turned a cold air intake which is stock from the factory into a hot air intake… or so it surely seems.
Just for more turbo noise while driving is all Soo works fine for that lol

I respect it man haha it’s all sound purposes literally all you get but depends whT you wanna spend your money on
Whys this guy moving like he just stole some shit!!🤔🤫
I probably did tbh
Sounds like cocaine. I breathe heavy just listening.
dont do it. your just drawing hot engine bay air into your turbo..loss of performance. even tho it sounds cool. lame idea. should be called hot air intake. tubo needs coolest air possible for best performance. look at drag or race cars. their air intakes are mounted with ports that draw air directly from the outside of vehicle for the coldest air to keep turbo cool as possible. turbos get extremely hot very fast. get a kerma or uro intake it bolts up to the og port at front of engine bay and cuts off any chance of drawing in hot engine bay air.
I totally agree with you yes it does suck a lot of hot air haha.. I mean for me personally I don’t mind loss in power for this application because the car regardless of what you do is going to be slow at this level so I’ll trade some horsepower for cool turbo noises( personal opinion) haha
Please buy a tripod
