  • No one is safe from the realities of the current freight market- no matter how big or small a BROKER or CARRIER is, there is always that possibility of going under. Cause? Overcapacity in the trucking market.

Did some loads with Coyote years ago, however I had to cut them off temporarily when they owed me $20,000. They called me begging me to move another load, and I told them not until you wire the $20k into my account you owe me. Wadda ya know, within 1 hour $20,000 appeared in my checking account! They called me back wanting to know if we were good. I told them, no, because now I want 50% of this load advanced to me before I agree to pull it. Presto, more money appeared in my checking account. Goes to show you, when they truly need you, they can quickly shovel cash at you.

If everyone is losing , shutting down, and seeing declining profits, going bankrupt, who is making money? The brokers are closing and laying off. Trucking companies are closing. How much longer until the only ones left are the mega carriers????

Idk but our population is growing daily and most loads are essential to the country so how does it make any sense to say the only way for the loads to pay is if brokers cant find any drivers anymore, thats not business and hiw the transportation industry works because warehouses are supposed to have a certain amount of supplies incase something catastrophic goes wrong or just has supplies so they dont need a shipment so frequently. Ive been out here and see how thungs are that capacity talk makes no sense to me

Standard corporate response to falling revenues, even though they would have been able to forecast that without much trouble. Now that the record profits for corporations are slimming down, they're doing the typical divestiture of resources. Even somewhat profitable ventures will be cut loose if HQ thinks it will make their bottom line look better to investors.

@@ogdriver5334 The last few years were unprecedented, and it created market situations we'd never really dealt with before, but the fundamentals of sound business never changed. If they didn't over expand, destroy their customer relationships in the contract market by being too greedy, or have the misfortune of their major customers going bankrupt, there's no reason they shouldn't be doing OK. Being huge and having fat reserves kind of helps, too.

Coyote was a reliable and dependable brokerage for a long time. Not sure what happened?
However, I feel like it’s the inexperience O/Os that drove the rates down to next to nothing. I mean if nobody’s hauling bad freight the rates go up, but somebody out here is! So here we are. Leaving experienced O/Os out on a island by themselves then eventually into bankruptcy. 😢
