    How do Ubisoft expect us to buy Star Wars Outlaws when we can't even own the game? Remarkable
    marketing.....

    • @zzsmooth
      @zzsmooth 29 дней назад +1

      I guess you won't be playing any digital game then because they are all the same way. When you buy a digital game you buy the license to play it. Usually by downloading the game or playing it you accept the EULA which most games have on their steam page.

    • @Paisa231
      @Paisa231 29 дней назад +2

      @@zzsmooth well most publishers and developers havent taken their game down yet, thats a huge difference! Most games you find at GoG and similar, or they are so cool that they give the community the ability to run their own servers. If what ubisoft is going to be common practice, we gamers has to do what hurts, hitting their wallet. Give our blessing to developers/publishers that doesnt go this route, and get our state entities to take this to court. The law of ownership is different country to country and in some its very strong. So this can force these companies to find a solution.

      I hope you realize pirating The Crew would not have done anything different to preserve it. Even a physical copy. Any version of the game is effectively deleted forever. It was always tethered to servers and now that that has been shutdown WITH licenses revoked, there is 0 way to preserve that. Piracy doesn't solve everything in terms of game preservation.

    The problem is that we don't require them to be open and transparent about digital rights management. It's buried in a EULA that no one reads nor can most people understand. They need to have a warning when you buy a game if it is online only or has DRM so consumers know what they're getting into.

    When I was in my mid 20’s/teens this bothered me a lot. Ownership, right? Music, games, software (at the time solidworks). Now? Naaaa. I don’t care. And neither should anyone else. CD’s get scratched, there is an endless supply of new music constantly, games are always coming out, updating, changing. My last two PC’s I built didn’t even have disk drives, because why? I’m completely fine with steam, or epic, ea, Spotify, etc, handling my digital needs. It’s more convenient, I’m getting my time out of them. So value is extracted. If I nuke my hard drive it doesn’t matter. All that stuff is easily retrievable. And in this day and age, if all of that became inaccessible because of an internet outage, well, gaming and music/media is the least of my problems. Of all the things that still concern me about ownership. Games is not one of them. And as fast as tech has always evolved, you almost can’t rely on owning a stand alone copy.
    Long story short. This is an area I’m totally fine not owning.
    Appreciate your perspective, just sharing my own. Yall have a great weekend and thanks!

    I think the owning of digital games is interesting. When you buy games you don't own them you only own the right to play it. And in some games depending on the EULA for example, Squad they could revoke your right to play it whenever and not tell you why. But by playing the game and downloading it you accepted the terms of the EULA which most people never actually read. I can see why people are mad about the crew but at the same time it's been like 10 years since the game has came out and all online games shut down eventually.

    This is fake outrage from Ubisoft haters. Go look at the steam charts for The Crew. The peak player count for the LAST 3 YEARS is only 314 players, with less than 50 players a majority of those months. People LOVE to cry about the latest Ubisoft headlines but don't actually even care about the games. Let's look at Outlaws as well. The season pass DLC model is over a decade old. It is nothing more than a DLC pre order. There are two planned expansions for Outlaws, and typically a single player DLC expansion is anywhere from $15-$30. So base game, $70, plus season pass, lets say $40, you get the middle ground edition at $110. It is a DLC pre order. As far as the deluxe edition being $130 with some trash cosmetics thrown in, I see that as a stupid tax. How much are typical cosmetics in any game? You arent getting one for less then $20 these days.
    So... lets do the math. Base game = $70, Two DLC story expansions pre order = $40 (please Ubisoft, stop calling this a season pass, gamers aren't smart enough to discern differences from a live service) , 3-5 cosmetics = $20. Do you see where the $110 and $130 editions come from now?
    If anyone is stupid enough to think those extra items in the $130 edition add anything to the game experience, then they deserve to lose that money. If someone is simply upset that a single exclusive mission is locked behind the DLC pre order, then go ahead and be upset. I would argue these people were never going to buy the game regardless.
