Honestly, I was just imagining Battlefield 3 players running around this environment blowing the hell out of everything.

This is awesome. I love games like this that just take you on an experience. It’s creepy and surreal without actually doing much. This is what I expected from the back rooms style games.

That one distant river pool at the water park nobody ever uses
the pool level doesnt have hostile entities.
I'd actually enjoy seeing more content that isn't from shooters.
Honestly, knowing the devs confirmed there are no “bad guys” definitive DOES remove like 40% of any creepiness and unsettling feeling that it had before you said that
until you play it and the atmosphere gets to you. it's exactly what i wanted when i wanted a backrooms game, only you, nothing else, in a place you aren't supposed to be
AHHH the Poolrooms! I love whenever I end up in these levels. Soo peaceful and calm vs the other madness of the backrooms lol. Idk much about this game, but in the backrooms the Poolrooms are devoid of entities, and the water actually has a calming relaxing nature being that it has epsome salt in the water. so finding this level in the backrooms is actually normally a good thing.
At least there's no scary monster 💀

i have recurring dreams where im in really strange dr sues style houses and the bathrooms are always like this/ ive also had a specific dream about the wacky stairs this game scares me
I'm thinking "at least it's not VR" and I guess levelcap was thinking the same thing. Some things are just too much for VR.
Ever since I saw this on steam I have really wanted to play it. I love the liminal feeling of the game

I won't say this game is bad, but it's one I still just don't get. It's just exploration and ambience, that seems like 100% of the game.

Quite a bit better imo, it actually makes you feel lost in an endless space, the maps in pools are quite small. Started development earlier too so it seems like pools is a quick cash-in.

The devs said somewhere a little while back in response to a comment that they want to get it playable in VR, but it's not there yet.

This is where we are in the gaming industry. Basically and fundamentally where we were 30 years ago but with Unreal Engine 5.4. Perhaps this is the state of equilibrium in the gaming industry and AAA titles between 2010-2017 were more a perturbation that temporarily drived the system away from its equilibrium state. Now that that peak as gone lets just enjoy the 10s of thousands of manga cartoon games on offer, or this "pools" game

So it's a walking sim? I mean if it was actually horror-based and a way to lose it would have really added to the game, but if you can't lose then what's the point?
What gets me is that all the water surfaces SHOULD be very still, yet they're moving as if driven by some kind of generic "this is water" algorithm which has to tell us, because we are sooo stupid, that it's a water surface.

Isn't there a snake monster thing that chases after you in this game? Wouldn't that mean that there are things that attack you? Genuine question. I haven't played this game yet.

You should try The Classrooms, its another Liminal space game with a decent number of monsters and environments. Its still in early access so new content still comes out.

This looks cool, but the screen-space effects are really killing the visual fidelity. This style of game really aches for a fully ray-traced experience. Fun seeing you wig out though LC!
You can change the way the game looks in the settings lens effects or make it like a VHS lost tape vibe. Would look dope with ray tracing and was really surprised it didn't have it

I can't get past the fakest walk sounds man. It doesn't add up to the characters movements. Fun concept but will never play because of only that.
