I'm painting my Abaddon too. I saw this video and I did the French Fry thing too and now I can't unsee it. Thankfully the Spikey Boi isn't on the base yet so I can fix it.
@@HobbyNight I was going for Blood Angels for the color. I didn't even know it was a jet back till you pointed it out. It's Raven Guard now. It's junk on the battlefield because if you ever see a Raven Guard they throw you out of the nest. ;)
Hey Angela, I'm new to wargaming and enjoyed digesting your painting techniques. That miniature has some amazing details and can't wait to see part two. Subbed w/🔔 also, really dig that tank top. 👑❤🏆
Just ordered this figure, love your vids you've got me back into 40k after along time from the hobby those contrast paints are good.great job now onto part two 😀
Looks great. Can't wait to see him finished. And if I ever paint him I plan to use my custom chapter for the base marine as well. It ties it in personally.
It really really does! I am sure it's not an uncommon trend amongst the community. 😊 Now I have to ask, what is your Chapters name and how would I identify them on the battle field? 😁
@@HobbyNight Right now I just have the paint scheme. I'm still learning about Warhammer and building my custom chapter but they are a Dark metallic blue and metallic Kelly green. I am theming them off the colors of the University of Notre Dame football team colors so the name will be something like Notre Damus Brotherhood. I have really learned a lot about Warhammer just by watching your videos where you go over the codex in depth. Love your videos and look forward to new ones every week.
Nice! If you post them on Instagram or Twitter @ me, I'd love to see 'em! I like the sounds of the color scheme, and I think the name works too. 😊 Thanks for watching!
I realized only recently that starting with the base is the best way to care about it Also you have my respect for painting with brushes this large XD at this point I'm going almost needle tiny for just about everything I do otherwise the mess triggers my OCD (and with contrast correcting is always a two step process which makes it infuriating imo)
It does help a lot! Thank you! It's not too difficult once you get used to it. If you want to try moving away from working with exceedingly smaller and smaller brush sizes I would highly recommend buying a quality Size 2 brush that has a good tip on it, one that keeps it's shape well. I personally like Escoda Prado synthetic sable watercolor brushes a lot (here is an amazon affiliates link if you are interested: amzn.to/3et3hWi). That's one of the brushes I have been using in a lot of my more recent videos. You will be amazed by how thin of a line you can pull with a brush with a good tip, let alone the control you will suddenly feel like you have. I believe you could do it too! On a side note to add a bit of context: I studied sequential art in college and one of my favorite parts of the comic book making process is traditional inking, so brush control is a thing I have practiced a lot to be able to get decent at. I sometimes go back and just pull straight lines on a piece of paper with a brush to practice still.
Building my first army which is CSM. Haven't picked up Abaddon yet. I still don't really know much about playing 40k, so no experience in army building.
Really beautiful work so far! You've managed to get some really nice results with contrast paints. Whenever I use them they turn out streaky or chalky. I don't know if I'm over working the paint or if I've got it too thin.
Offhand I normally think that comes from overworking it. The cloak in this video is a good example, you see pretty much my entire application of it. Once I've brushed the solid layer on, I find the contrast behaves best if not F'd with, except to 'dab' up excess where needed.
Looks great as always. I might have missed something though and have a question about what you did. Did you do anything on the cloak other than FleshTearers Red? I really like the shades you achieved on both the dead space marine and the cloak.
Nope! I left it just as is, with just the Fleshtearers Red on it. I might add a wash to it in Part 2 if I feel like it needs it to help blend with the rest of Abaddon.
Just a little criticism, not something you would change at this point. The use of the textured paint would not have been the way I would have gone. I would have used sand because of the bold granular look on the model's stand. The sand would have been more in keeping with that look and the paint blending would have brought it together even more so than the textured paint. However this is your model and vid' so Viv la differonce (Imagine a French accent here)

I enjoyed the little black book reference
I enjoyed making it!

My fry mistake is precisely why when I can, I try to paint my larger miniatures in pieces. So I can correct bad decisions like that more easily. XD

Love your painting Angela, I like the way you’ve thought through your ideas and give a good commentary too, keep up the good work 👍
I appreciate it! *Gulps* Now... the harder part of him
@@HobbyNight You are very attractive and I enjoy seeing you no matter what you paint.
Model is looking great
Thank you!
Wow, I really love your base on that one ! Can't wait for Part 2 =)
Thanks! 😊 Me too!
I was surprised that you used primarily contrast paints and shades for this; I think this is looking great! I'm looking forward to the follow up video
Contrast paints are my jam! 😊
Looks good, excited for part 2!
Me too!

I really like what you did with the flames. I'm painting pinkish Psychic energy on my Edlar, from custom molds. You gave me some ideas for blands.
Nice!
Blends, not blands, damn auto-correct. lol.
I understood. 😉
Well done.
Thanks!
5:49 in and already helpful and informative

Puuuuh.... I can only say wow.... also nice painting tips. Keep going. One question - ist that the official GW Abaddon?
Yes, it is!
Good!!!!
Thanks!!
I love that shirt
Thanks! It's actually a dress!
Thanks 🙂👍

#GetIt! 🧸🤗
So cool. That is the wing of the Base from Abaddon? Is that a part of Custodes winged Jumptroop?
It’s a part off his sprue. It could be a Custodes armor fragment. I took it as a Blood Angle Jump Pack!
McDonald's 🍟 hahahhah, Abbadon is a fast food tier bad guy leader.

Sand can create a bit more of a mess than I would want to deal with.

Nice! I have heard awesome things about War of the Ring!
i think its prounounced "Abad - Den" not " Abba - Don".....
Glad it wasn’t a slaneesh model or it might of been the ban hammer rather than war hammer 🙈🦑
