I thought the movie was great. With the absence of stalker fan films its hard to be too critical imo. Americans would totally act like this in the zone. Everything is believable aside for the absence of mutants and Yokel not knowing what a gravi anomaly was.
I never understood people complaining about American stalkers having top of the line equipment. If you know how a lot of Vets arm themselves in America, it wouldn't be surprising that a Vet would bring a ton of equipment into the zone
Think ya'll are being a bit harsh considering theres no other stalker films really and to have heaps of mutants and shit would raise the cost a lot because of CGI. These guys dont have huge production backing and a huge budget like actual shows do.
A lot of people are looking past the fact that the games don’t really capture the essance of mercenaries not being like permanent zone residents. They probably just don’t take the time to learn zone shit because this is just another job for them, and they view it objectively.
I also find some of the criticisms on their gear weird, of course especially as a maybe more experienced western soldier with some good backing you will resort to what you view as top notch gear and you will "outgear" the typical fortune seeking Loner who went into the zone with what he had on his back, so to speak.
Regarding lore, with billions of minds capable of coming up with things - 'tis inevitable that someone or several have a similar - if not the same - idea. The approach may differ, however.
I see no problem with Duty, Mercenaries, Ecologists, and Loners working together. Loners are neutral with all factions besides Bandits, Monolith, and some mercenaries. Thus are ok with working with other factions if it suits them. Ecologists work with anyone who helps with their research in Call of Pripyat you can hire Loners, Mercenaries, Freedom, or Duty to serve as their guards. And hire Loners, Freedom, or Duty to gather research for them. But even then that’s irrelevant because Brian has alternative motives for joining the expedition. Mercenaries (besides the ones who act as better equipped bandits) do anything as long as the pay is good. Duty has allowed both a Mercenary member and Monolith members to join them, while having formed a truce with Freedom one of their main rivals in Call of Pripyat. Miscellaneous points so while it is true the last known leader of Duty was General Voronin who preferred more defensive tactics, Call of Pripyat took place in 2012 while this film most likely takes place in the current year based on how the end of the Afghanistan war was referenced meaning it’s entirely possible Duty has a different leader now. Even if he was the current leader the purpose of this mission was to investigate a signal and acquire intelligence it wasn’t a massive offensive against monolith. The mercenaries also didn’t use Duty as cannon fodder I don’t know where you got that idea from. Lastly you missed some dialogue during the Rostok where Monk outright says the relationship between Duty and the Mercenaries is a temporary truce and that things are weird right now. Meaning this is isn’t a permanent alliance.
1:15:46 all of it gets explained Brian explains what happened to the scientists, the artillery destroys the building, the Mercenaries survived, and Crow most likely returns home after coming to terms with his past.
It’s ok to be critical. Logically if you want things to get better, you must have some idea on how to improve in the future. This “It’s hard to be critical” stuff makes zero sense. It’s really easy to be critical when you’re logical and aren’t blinded by fanboyism. Just don’t be unfairly critical. That never helps anyone
@@chrisjamesberberidis i know its just a joke, but kudos for you to not take it to your heart.. your portrayal as Crow its as genuine as a Veteran stalker, at least in my head. lets hope GSC put your character inside the game at least as reference. Not gonna lie, knowing most of the Monolith guys who took part in it, the behind the scenes was a disaster, that and T&A not being able to use their vhcs to drive around and blanks not being allowed is cringe. Also the Crye gear and modern kits kinda ruins the vibe imho even if there was a time jump since they reference the end of the Afghan war. (20 Years)
I dont mind the modern setting, but like all of Evans films, everything is just too "cag". Imagine if they reeled back the budget on guns and gear exponentially, and put that money into something like a practical effects suit. We could have gotten a scene with a hogs, dogs, or even a bloodsucker. I understand the mercs being a bit more geared and experienced over lone stalkers or Duty, but my god we could have gotten some much cooler stuff
@@NOABXDidk if you knew but the reason this took so long to release because they had trouble with a vfx team which means they have to do everything again and with their low budget unlike actual companies,it couldn’t be done properly.I’d like to see you try to make this better if anything. And I’m saying this nicely

Genuinely so sad this movie went like this. I had very high hopes this would be great but it just turned out kinda mid. I think if they had spent time actually making game accurate outfits this would have been a much better experience.
I didn't lol. The moment I saw merc looking like Lucac Bootkin wananbe instagram larperators I knew it was over then. The whole project was doomed from the start since no one clearly didn't care/understand the original videogames.
1. You underestimate how expensive creating outfits from scratch is 2. the mutant doesnt need an cgi, just wear a mocap suit or literally a suit would works...
