Honestly this show was a pleasant surprise for me. Way better than what I expected. Yes, it does go into questionable territory in early eps but tones down a lot imo and is lot wholesome. Marin is one of the anime girl in like last 5yrs
Despite how heavily they lean into fanservice in the first part of the show/manga, this series is genuinely the most wholesome thing I've ever come across. It's so lighthearted, and funny, yet a mature piece of fictions that asks and answers some very difficult questions without letting it get too heavy. I follow the manga very closely, and I couldn't be more invested.
I know it’s not what you meant, but the way you wrote this implies Carlie and Ange’s meeting had MORE fan service than this show, which is a pretty high bar to clear. 😂

Edit: Also, we have no idea how or why Marin came flying into Gojo's desk like that. The weird thing is this didn't even happen in the manga, so what even happened?
It's implied that Nowa pushed her into the desk playfully. During episode 12 when Marin is rambling on the phone she mentions how Nowa is stronger than she seems in reference to the first episode I think. In the manga it's more of a gentle push rather than the dramatic flight in the anime which was probably just for embellishing/ attention grabbing entrance to best girl
It happens in the manga, it is just way, way tamer lol. Nowa bumps her into Gojo's desk, but she just backs into it. She doesn't go flying. No idea why they over dramatized it for the anime.

As a rom-comedy enjoyer, here's a small list of some more rom-comedies that you would probably love: - The dangers in my heart ( 2 seasons still ongoing) - Toradora ( 1 season 24 eps completed) - Oregairu ( 3 seasons completed) - Golden Time ( 1 season 24 eps completed, same author as Toradora) - Horimiya ( 2 seasons completed) - Tomo chan is a girl ( 1 season completed) - Fruits baskets ( personally havent seen it yet, but everyone that watches it says its very good so I put my trust on them for this one) These are all extremely valid and highly rated, im fairly confident you'd like every single one of them
I’d recommend the remastered version of Fruit’s Basket. The older version is good for nostalgia, but only if you’ve seen the older version back as a kid on TV. So the remastered version fits best for a reaction. But that’s just my opinion, idk if Carli and Ange would enjoy a more old school animation and go for the older version instead.

Either way, it's an outside perspective observing Marin, the so-called "Dress-up Doll." Wakana is the main character, but she's certainly the focus character.
Akase Akari, who sings the ending theme, is about as close to a real life Marin as you can get. Everyone really should watch the music video for that song!

I love Gojo and Marin, they're so cute together. I haven't watched the anime but I do read the manga and their relationship is just precious, plus you get to learn neat fact about hina dolls and cosplay. ..... So if you guys are going to keep a slot open for romance/shoujo/josei/seinen series I totally recommend Princess Tutu which is a magical girl series, I know it's not the most popular and looks really girly but the story is amazing! But if that's not your thing I recommend Monster or Pluto which are pyschological thrillers, really good stuff.
