I totally agree with you. When I first bought this CD I listened to it one time from start to finish and I thought it was horrible. I threw it in the drawer and didn't touch it for years. Then I found it again and listened to it again, and again, and again. It's now one of my top as well. I guess I was thinking it would be more "proggy" then their other stuff.

I saw the tour with Primus opening...Primus was amazing, but Rush was kinda boring. (I was also with my future ex wife, that didn't help, lol.)
However, many years later I saw them again & it was a great show, & they played for almost 3 hours.

Never figured I'd see anything from this LP on ANY reaction channel...kinda made my day. On another note, and just throwing it out there, "Witch Hunt" and, if you're into the Space Program, "Countdown" are a couple of kinda obscure cuts you'd probably enjoy. I've also been waiting for some of their first LP to start popping up. No matter what anyone says, that album is heavy as hell...considering the state of music when it came out. The early KISS stuff is nasty as well...

This is one of my absolute favorite Rush songs and that is saying a lot. The way the song develops and the musical builds and harmonies are outstanding. The way Alex's guitar fades out at the end is beautiful, I always picture an eagle flying over a snow capped mountain on a clear day when I hear it!

So many people are discovering Rush and feel exactly like you do. There's nothing now, nor then, that's anything like them. Neil's lyrics are mind blowing and Geddy sings them in the exact way they should be sung. Alex is a god, of course. They are a perfect trifecta. It brings me so much happiness to see them loved and appreciated by another generation, as much as we did throughout their journey from the beginning. 💙

Totally agree with you Alex is highly underrated as a guitarist. He often is over shadowed by the rhythm section of Geddy and Neil but if you listen closeLy he does a lot of little accents and chordal playing during the verses that add so much to the song. He really shines on his solos and has a very distinctive sound that when you hear it you know it’s Alex playing.

I haven't made any Rush requests because I'm a disabled veteran and consequently, aren't a Patreon sub. Be that as it may, I have been a Rush fan for over 45 years (since 1975), and if you want recommendations, I can provide an extensive list.
Yes, please provide all your Rush reactions. I have 1 or 2 songs from each of their 20 studio albums (I include the EP, Feedback).
Yes, you get it. With Rush, it's the MESSAGE! The music paints a picture for the right hemisphere and the words take care of the left hemisphere. Rush IS a journey and can indeed provide the soundtrack of a life. They have done that for me. I began at age 15 (almost 16) in '75 with the Fly By Night album, which I bought as an EIGHT TRACK (yeah, I'm really old school). With the first few chords of the opener, "Anthem," I was hooked. I've grown up with this band. I'm glad you took the time to also watch the documentary, "Beyond the Lighted Stage" because it shows the humble beginnings of Rush. I joined after "The New Guy" was in the band for less than a year. The Holy Trinity has prevented me from taking my own life hundreds of times. Yes, the rabbit hole is DEEP, my friend. Welcome to the mission of Rush. (RIP, Professor...) 😢

Listen to “ Animate” it’s on Counterpoints”. One of their “ heavier and more crunchy , back to basics, “ albums, but Animate has an AMAZING groove too

Presto was my gateway album to Rush. I thought they were terrible until I heard "The Pass", and down the rabbit hole I went from there. While it doesn't have the "punch" of more popular albums like Moving Pictures or 2112, I love Presto all the same. Always seemed more refined than any of their other albums.
