I totally agree with you. When I first bought this CD I listened to it one time from start to finish and I thought it was horrible. I threw it in the drawer and didn't touch it for years. Then I found it again and listened to it again, and again, and again. It's now one of my top as well. I guess I was thinking it would be more "proggy" then their other stuff.
I saw the tour with Primus opening...Primus was amazing, but Rush was kinda boring. (I was also with my future ex wife, that didn't help, lol.) However, many years later I saw them again & it was a great show, & they played for almost 3 hours.
@@mojoriot2293 I, too, saw them on this tour, in Orlando. It was my first time seeing them and I was blown away by the quality. I only ended up seeing them about a half-dozen times after that, but they were always consummate professionals.
Rush\s music truly is the music of my life, I started listening to them when I was a teenager and I just turned sixty lol. Timeless music with a message and supported with the most amazing instrumentation
A great tune off an awesome release!! I was pissed they didn't play this on tour that year...I brought 4 glow sticks and was going to throw them up high at a very specific point in the song - at 2:41 of this reaction video. Another awesome tune from this release is Scars, Neil did his drum solo during that tune on this tour. Great reaction, thanks!! Get those other reactions out!!!!!!!
Another great reaction. Rush is my favorite band. Started listening to them in the late 70’s and you’re 💯 right. They did make music that change your life.
This is one of my absolute favorite Rush songs and that is saying a lot. The way the song develops and the musical builds and harmonies are outstanding. The way Alex's guitar fades out at the end is beautiful, I always picture an eagle flying over a snow capped mountain on a clear day when I hear it!
So many people are discovering Rush and feel exactly like you do. There's nothing now, nor then, that's anything like them. Neil's lyrics are mind blowing and Geddy sings them in the exact way they should be sung. Alex is a god, of course. They are a perfect trifecta. It brings me so much happiness to see them loved and appreciated by another generation, as much as we did throughout their journey from the beginning. 💙
@@leemiracle6840 No need to get testy - I thought you may have meant it literally, and if so I was gonna give you a virtual high-5. You get one anyways for hitting all those tours. Envioius!
And to think there are those of us out here who have been with them from the start. I for one have been a fan since the release of their first album. My first concert was when they were the opening act for Nazareth in 1975. 32 shows later i saw their last show ever at the Los Angeles Forum August 1st 2015.
This guy “gets” it. Not everyone gets Rush. It’s a very unique and acquired vibration which some just can’t connect with. But for those who do…this band will change your life, as you said.
Presto has been my goto album lately, the lyrics and music are just incredible, but then every Rush album is so it's no surprise, but they have really held me in thrall lately!!

I love that line, "I radiate more heat than light." It's been a guiding principle for me, whenever I converse with someone, and especially disagree. The heat dissipates and hurts, but the light shows reality and shares knowledge. We should always remember which we emanate more of. This was the first Rush album I ever bought with my own money as a kid. And it still holds a special place in my heart. It's not my favorite, but it's got so many great gems in it. Anyone who hasn't heard "the Pass" yet owes it to themselves. Talk about a moving song.
Rush is one of the greatest bands of all time . R.I.P Neil . I have seen them live twice. They were incredible! There will l never be another band of this magnitude. 40 years together. Incredible musicians. Could you please react to Virtuality off the album Test For Echo! Welcome to the best fan base ever! You could never overload us with Rush.
Presto is one of my favorites. Very deep & different than their norm. Thanks for reacting. I've seen people request songs from Clockwork Angels. But I always recommend listening to the whole album, start to finish, with the album booklet. Would be awesome to get a reaction of that whole album & see how you feel about it by the end.
Please check out the Pass, the lyrics alone will blow you away..Neil had a way of weaving great quotes into his music and he did so in the Pass as well...You will enjoy the song
Presto is one of those albums that didn't get much airplay...or any airplay...but it has some real gems....like Chain Lightning and War Paint and a favorite of mine, The Pass...the only song to bring me to tears. I planned to see them on the Presto tour but the show we drove to was sold out. I saw them on the next tour, Roll The Bones, so they did some of the Presto songs on that show.
Good to see you back on Rush! How about two songs in one since the first song leads into the second; and the second is less than 3 minutes: A Farewell to Kings (official video version) Closer to the Heart (official vid)
This is a great example of Rush doing an anti-chorus. Chorus’s are usually the upbeat part of the song but Rush would often flip it and play slower chorus....brilliant. Oh Alex’s outro solo so beautiful
One of your viewers requested, “New World Man”. I Wonder if Neil Peart wrote this, thinking of Geddy Lee? Just a curious mind. Glad you enjoyed this song! This song has lifted me many times.
I'm glad to see that you appreciate the fine lyrics as well as even better playing and the level of musicianship these guys definitely raise the bar for all of music but I was wondering if you had taken the time to find out who in the band writes all the lyrics for all the songs?
Never figured I'd see anything from this LP on ANY reaction channel...kinda made my day. On another note, and just throwing it out there, "Witch Hunt" and, if you're into the Space Program, "Countdown" are a couple of kinda obscure cuts you'd probably enjoy. I've also been waiting for some of their first LP to start popping up. No matter what anyone says, that album is heavy as hell...considering the state of music when it came out. The early KISS stuff is nasty as well...
"This band makes music that will change your life and sounds like the soundtrack of your life" it's nice to hear someone new to rush say that. I say that but I've been a fan since single digits so like I am totally biased
I am so glad they finally decided to play this song live on the Snakes and Arrows tour. I really don't know why they did not play it on the Presto tour.
You gotta do a reaction/lyrical breakdown for the Rush song "Trees." It is POETRY! And has a message that's still very much relevant today! If no one requests it, I will next time...🤘😁
I would argue that the Trees has TWO different meanings, depending on how you read into it (and as my personal politics have changed as I aged, it still resonates to me, just in a different way now). That's beautiful writing, when there is evidence for multiple different, complex readings of a text.
alex is one of my favorite guitar player. he has an unmistakable signature sound on the guitar. one of alex influence on the guitar is steve hackett. check the song riding the colossus. you will hear and feel steve influence on alex in his playing. another guy with incredible guitar playing influenced by both alex lifeson and steve hackett is douglas A ott from the band enchant. check the song broken waves from the band enchant for a guitar solos that will pierce your heart. i sincerely believe that alex lifeson most heart touching guitar solo is from the rush song you bet your life.
