    Also could you please touch upon 5BR inhibition in Fin? Liver health is important for me, and this has been stopping me from starting it, but it seems like this never gets talked about. Is it comparable to 5AR1 inhibition in Dut in terms of liver damage?

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  3 года назад +2

      Glad to be back choom. I've seen some limited research on interactions between finasteride and the 5BR enzyme but I don't think there is a whole lot of data on it so I don't think it is anything to worry about.
      Finasteride and dutasteride both metabolize through the hepatic pathway so a subject on liver health would be interesting. I think I have addressed it in videos before but never a specific video on the subject.

    Hey man, I've been wondering if and how do you keep your hair healthy and prevent it from going extremely damaged? Considering you shampoo everyday from one of your videos, I assume you use some kind of hair oil and conditioner to keep it in good condition.
    Minoxidil makes my hair porosity extremely high because of shampooing it everyday and it makes it dry, especially after applying the solution and keeping it on for at least 6-7 hours. I've been trying to apply coconut oil on my hair strands an hour after applying minoxidil daily before going to sleep and applying a conditioner on my hair the day after I shower, which in turn I hope it will make it more healthy.
    I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do, but if you could let me know your opinion or routine on this I would be extremely thankful.

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  3 года назад +2

      I have seen a few claims to that effect, but the data is weak and probably explained more by stress-induced telogen effluvium from over-training with or without inadequate nutrition, or even anabolic steroid use. There are transient increases in testosterone with exercise, but not enough to make a difference. I don't think there is any good evidence that people who regularly do resistance training have worsening androgenic alopecia.

    Currently on month 8 taking fin 1,25 mg x 3 times per week. I´m shedding less hairs than what I used to do before taking fin. However, I´m goign through a shedding phase this past few days. Didn´t notice any regrowth, my hair is probably a little bit thinner indeed.
    What would u do if u were in my position? Should I add something like oral minoxidil or is it better for me to wait and give fin more time before adding another treatment?
    I would probably go for oral minoxidil instead of topical since I have a lot of issues related with seborrheic dermatitis.
    Maybe u can do a video about this topic one day.
    Thanks for the help, I really appreciate your work.

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  3 года назад +4

      No, it's nothing to worry about. It is a necessary step to regrowing hair and all hairs go through cycles. People freak out about this because they're not educated about the hair growth cycle. Shedding is inevitable because it is impossible to keep hair permanently in the anagen growth phase and the growth of the hair is not uniform so it is possible for hair to shed worse at certain times of the year.
      Please watch my video on shedding.

    Hey Kevin, what is your opinion on getting married and having kids? I am 42 and have very little experience with women. I do not want to settle down with any of them just to get sex (which she will withhold and use as leverage against me until I am in my grave). Should I care about passing on my blood lineage? Is that really a big deal?

    I've been taking finasteride for almost a year now. Hair loss has stopped and have slight regrowth, I do feel energy levels go slightly down and libido slightly down but these symptoms would likely pass if I took 1.25 mg every second day instead of every day. Initially, libido was super high for maybe a month. If you are balding I recommend fin asap, I regret not taking this ten years ago.

    • @extremisttotheextremeantid7554

      Been on it for 2 months sometimes taking 0.25mg or 0.5mg everyday. Roughly 3-4mg a week. I have noticed extreme shedding thus making me wear a beanie all the time on outings and super high increased libido during the initial week then it began to subside to slightly below normal levels. I would go 2-3 days without thinking of the opposite gender. I am 22. I just want to slow down my hair loss without risking the strong side effects that come with the full 1mg dosage everyday because I don’t want to risk growing gyno although I am 15% body fat or lose my sexual drive. Balding sucks but it is what it is.

      No, weight training only affects the tissues involved and the rise is acute and minor. The increase in androgens is algorithmic, not linear which is why women who lift weights don't get facial hair and deep voices.

    Hey Kevin I have a question I got really good results from finasteride 7 months in then I tried ru and minoxidil for two weeks then stopped. Shedded a lot but I started regrowing hair after 3 months. I used Nizoral for bad dandruff around this time and it completely killed my hair again. 6 months after my hair isn’t recovering and it’s really sensitive to different shampoos. I feel like I’m behind baseline from when I started finasteride. Should I just leave my hair alone? or should I get on another treatment sticking to it this time? Thank you

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  3 года назад +1

      Sounds like a case of hair greed. Just drop the topicals and stick with finasteride. Taking RU/Minoxidil probably Jumpstart the anagen phase causing a shed which made you freak out and stop, a very common mistake.
      Also, Nizoral makes the hair look like dried out straw, stick with the 1 percent and use it no more than once per week. You can counter some of the dryness by putting a teaspoon of jojoba oil in your hair and letting it sit for 5 minutes before washing it out.

    • @LunaticDragon7
      @LunaticDragon7 3 года назад

      @@haircafekevin it seems to be retaining at the moment. in your opinion if I stick to the same simple shampoo and take only finasteride has there been cases where hair gains can happen pass 6 months of time. I used RU/Mox for two weeks and later on nizoral once a week for a month but it seems it did permanent damage 6 months later since noticing minimal hair growth at the moment. Is it possible that 5AR inhibitors can make you gay or increase feminine tendencies? When you think about it, significantly lowering DHT is something MTF people do to transition. While watching porn the other day, I noticed that I focused on the guy for a millisecond instead of the girl. I'm afraid that lowering my systemic DHT may have caused this.
    Thoughts?

      Would much rather be a bald vegan than a non vegan with hair. I do not believe in harming others for my personal benefit which is why I also reject health arguments behind veganism. Violence doesn't suddenly become acceptable just because I benefit from it.
      As for the drugs I use. Finasteride had a trivial amount of lactose and I mean beyond trivial. You'd need to consume about 12000 pills to equal an 8 Oz glass of milk. Vegans probably consume more than that from cross contamination.

    Kevin do you think Stemoxydine gains are retained even after the bottle is finished? I use it to speed up growth results of minoxidil/finasteride, it gave me a noticeable boost in growing new hairs but I don't think I will buy it again. Also I recommand it for those who are impatients (especially if shedding is hard)

    • @haircafekevin

      Yeah, I do but only in the presence of another growth stimulant like minoxidil even though minoxidil works quite a bit differently. That's a good thing though since it means they can be stacked.
      Its gains are noticeable but minor, only about 4000 or so new hairs even though scalps can have 150 thousand or more hairs, not bad but definitely not a necessary compound in a hair loss stack.
