    I've got a 2017 Hawk 250 Chinese Dual Sport. It has a clone Honda CG engine. Over 7k miles in one year and still going strong. Paid $1500 cash in 2018. Yes, your advice on loctite and checking everything when you get it is spot on. But for the price point, you really can't beat it. Comes with a one year warranty on the engine too. $60 a year for insurance and it's been a good investment. Lots of fun and well past the dollar a mile mark.

    • @BrawndoCorporation
      @BrawndoCorporation 4 года назад +1

      I don't think CC knows about the TT250, Brozz, Hawk bikes. Just have to loctite it and they're so easy to work on and the motor like you said is basically a Honda motor. People have 20k miles on them and still running strong. In other countries where they sell them they have way more miles.

    • @louiewatson9389
      @louiewatson9389 4 года назад +1

      @@BrawndoCorporation it's an exact clone. I did a porting job on the head and bought the new head gasket from Honda and used the CG engine torque specs and valve clearance specs. Works perfectly. Any parts for the engine I get from Honda.

    I got a Bashan Brozz a lil while back, almost 1000 miles on it. Ive owned/still own a bunch of other bikes and still really like this thing. Cheap, simple, and the CG engine design is old as time and almost as reliable. Your right about the fluids and the valve check. But the stock tires have actually proven to be pretty good, even when wet on most surfaces. Only took a week from Peace Sports to get to me, they are a real brick and mortar dealer with real support.

    I bought an Apollo 125 to learn on and my experience has been good. I totally agree with CC on prep of the bike before riding. Takes 5 minutes to change the fuel lines and 30 minutes to swap the carb after I did that I had great experience with the motorcycle it does everything I want and hasn’t let me down yet! I’m sure a Honda would’ve been better but as a new rider the fact I can buy 5 brand new Apollo’s for the price of 1 new Honda makes it totally worth it to me (only ride 2-3 times a month) Chinese bikes are getting better every year 2013 was a long time ago CC lol

    I have a Chinese electric sport bike. Top speed 140kph, 0-100kph in 4 seconds. Have brembo brakes system and Pirelli Rosso 2 tires. Have a lithium battery pack with 2 chargers for faster charging with a range of 150km per charge. 3hr charge time. Love it, super reliable. Own it since 2017. They sell these bikes locally so no importing required. I bought mine used and upgraded the shit out of it. My battery is also built in Canada not in china. The bike is comparable to the Zero DSR but cost 1/3 the price. It’s also hub base vs belt driven so it’s super silent. Has regen braking and Bluetooth app just like the zero. And the bike looks way slicker then the zero line up as they all look like dirt bikes unless you want to drop crazy money. The bike is actually faster then the zero bike that’s similar specs.

    I have owned the scooter that I have now for 3 years. It's a 2017 ice bear. I am on the second motor which was replaced last week. The first motor lasted just over 12,000 miles. I bought it new, did the break in correctly on the engine, and ride it all over NE Indiana. Everything from off road to riding it to within 3 miles of the Michigan border leaving from Fort Wayne. Rode hard and put away wet and it is still in good shape. I ride all year round to. Handled -30 with ease!

    I really hope that Lifan or Znen or some other legit chinese motorcycle company can come in and undercut the Japanese on price. The big 4 have basically no real competition.

    • @slimjim7411
      @slimjim7411 4 года назад

      The big 4 compete against each other. Most of the comparable Chinese built foreign designed bikes that don't suck are in the $5,000 price range like the Benelli 600 but you have twice the amount of service required. So the $1,000 you save over a Honda CB500R is going to vanish in the first 2 years due to the service required and it's overall still going to be a worse bike.
      So hence the issue you can undercut the Japanese on quality, quality control, and that's about it.

    Thanks for the video. I had a relatively trouble free chinese bike experience. Bought a new supermoto style 125cc from a dealer in 2013 for my Dad to learn on and my brothers still got it (I think it's still only done about 7k KM despite its age). Only issues were a flat battery and a dud starter solenoid after it had been sat outside a while.
    The quality of them gets better each year and some brands are becoming more mainstream. Time was nobody would buy Japanese bikes for the same reason. Despite this I do agree it's a gamble and the build quality is often terrible (as on mine).
    By all means do the research and maybe buy one but next time my moneys going on a used Japanese bike. ...

    I own a Chinese bike, a Kymco K-Pipe 125. I got mine from a "Respectable" Dealer (kinda a oxymoron there) which honored its 2 year warranty. Good: Motor. While power isn't its thing, durability is, even though 1,200 mile oil changes, and 2,400mi valve adjustments are a drag. Also the tires, it came with Kenda branded tires, and with stock 17 inch wheels, it handles well and is relatively comfortable to ride. Bad: Pretty much everything else. Frame broke at the engine mounts due to lack of any vibration isolation, replaced the Speedo, resetting at 0 miles (never trust the mileage on a bike), numerous bolts either vibrating loose, or shearing off. And Electrical issues with fuses going at 30 mile intervals. I've got about 7,000 miles on her, and the Dealer has long since closed for some reason.

I have a cruiser bike on layaway it's the ghost 250. I'll be getting it very soon. After you pay it off itll take 7 business to get to your doorstep. This will be my first bike. I'm glad I saw this vid so I can do the mods and stuff I need to do to it.

    Im one of the ones who’s had good luck with china scoots.. a big thing that takes 5 mins is CHANGE THE FUEL LINES! They come with cheap rubber ones and they tend to degrade and clog the carb. The stock carbs are usually junk too. My current one has performed flawlessly for the 5000km ive put on it and i rebuilt it with a 70cc kit the day after i got it. The whole thing was about $550 after all the upgrades. They can be a great deal, you just gotta be willing to work on em because most shops wont touch em.
    Ive since upgraded to a used honda 250 and its a much better machine but that scooter did everything I needed for a year solid and never let me down.

    I ordered a Scooter from Taiwan. Along the way a forklift operator put the forks through the middle of it. "Stick a fork in it, it's done" was the literal outcome. I sent pictures of the damage to the Dealer after a couple of weeks they sent me another Scooter. They told me I could keep the totaled scooter if I wanted it because it cost them to haul it away. The replacement scooter had a little over 64,000 km on the odometer when a woman crashed into me and totaled it. It was a good Scooter never giving problems.

    Zongshen and Lifan as far as Chinese companies go make decent quality bikes. There is a company in Southern Cal called CSC Motorcycles (short for California Scooter Company) that imports the Zongshen bikes under that name. They actually make a very high quality 400cc ADV bike. When I first got into bikes and had no money but just a burning desire to own a motorcycle I was actually going to buy a Dongfang 250. They actually look very nice. I ended up buying a 2012 Honda CBR 250R with 3000 miles on it for $2000. I was very happy with that bike. Wish I still had it actually but I have since upgraded.

    I bought a Chinese, CF Moto E - Charm 150 scooter. I was actually really happy with it. It was fuel injected and was an absolute blast to ride. It always started and never left me stranded. It would run a solid 75 mph all day. I put a solid 8k miles on it. I sold it and bought a Hyosung GT650R "Comet" that's was a couple of years old for $1,600. I should've kept the scooter, that thing looked awesome but was just never "right". Always had some issue with it. Quality on the Chinese scooter was superior to the build of the Korean built Hyosung in my opinion.

    If you're not mechanically inclined and own tools, or if you don't have money to burn, don't buy Chinese scooters or motorcycles. That simple. I own a Chinese taotao scooter and keep up with valve adjustments and other things, a few mods, and I made it to 7500 km and just today noticed low compression issues. But I have a brand new motor for it (b/n $300-400)
    That's the other plus side, chinese parts are cheap too.

    Not too smart when it comes to electric but if you want some good semi reliable street legal bikes that have been known to last long and not come from the factory terrible you can go for an RPS hawk or tao tao tbr7. These two are decent dual sports that can even hit 50+ mph on the road. Not good on highway but for back alleys/roads these are two good dual sport street legal bikes that typically just come with some bolts that need tightened and nothing too bad.

    I'd rather buy an old janky Honda scooter from the 80's than one of those Chinese scooters. Lol Being real. I bought my 2003 Triumph Speed Triple 955i for 2,500 with 10,000 miles on it. It needed tires, inspection (it passed) rear brake pads and that's it. The fluids were changed and it had a new battery. The owner said he was letting go for cheaper than book value because it still needed a few things. I didn't care because it fired right up and rode really well. F scooters unless you live in the city. Even then I'd rather buy a used Grom.

    I was at the bike shop the other day and someone brought in a Chinese scooter , which they don't. work on, they call them "you be" bikes.
    You be cheap, you be fixing and you be pushing it home.
    Might make a great toy boy for messing around, if you already have a good running bike. It like those people who take old bicycle and fit those small Chinese motor kits, relaible who knows fun factor way up there.
    best thing to do with 1200.00 buck for a bike is put it in savings and save some more and get a used Japanese motorcycle. I have found sound some nice yard bikes for around that cost, you know when ride down the street you see a bike for sale in the yard, once in awhile I find one cheap and bring it home clean and fix up ride it a bit and flip it.

    I can see why Chinese bikes are looked down upon. This is the same thing that happened with Japanese bikes when they came out. In time, and experience, Chinese bikes will be right there quality wise. In many regards they already are. Many of the China bikes are actually really good, the problem is they come with a few low par parts that need to be replaced. Once those parts are replaced these bikes will ride for years.
    Any bike will be crap if you dog it, don't maintain it, and are not a good rider.

I know the DLX and the Brozz have inverted forks, the DLX has fuel injection as well.. All are suppose to be sent from California or surrounding areas and all of which you can buy a protection plan for up to 48 months on all the parts practically for any failures so it leaves you with just basic maintenance on your bike but any major failures or gaskets, etc are covered and repair costs.

    It all comes down to doing your research. There are a lot of knock-offs with shotty manufacturing and poor quality control practices. However, if you can sift through the trash, you can find some really well put together motorcycles and ebikes from china. Benelli's bikes are chinese made and they are really well put together. Most of the cars that are on the road today are chinese made as well. Their quality has come along way.

  • @yuunjac

    Nowadays, there are many bikes that are "China". Such as Brixton, Benelli, Zontes. They have been making their presences felt. But I agree on tightening the nuts and bolts. But I think it is the same with Bajaj or even KTM.
    Nothing really beats Japanese quality control and reliability. That's my personal opinion but I can understand why the Chinese bikes getting more traction. I almost get one myself but stop short after test rode them after a while. Some really makes me think... Not bad.
    On the side note... When you say Chinese scootah... Do you also include Sym from Taiwan? They make awesome scootah and personally owning it for 3 weeks, I think it is awesome.
