Yes it does. Also why I love 7 cause they took everything good about Vista and made it better and by then the world had adopted vista cause if you think about vista/7 are almost 1 in the same

I've used XP and vista, my nostalgia and experience and recent look back tells me that they are both Great operating systems I felt Vista was an upgrade, and a well made one, I wouldn't ask to go back, I Even had 2 PCs run Vista fine for well over a decade I wouldn't ask for anything better!

yeah I used classic style in XP well after everyone was on Win 7. XP Is great. I think I used XP until about 2011.
Now I use Win 7 with Classic Style. Yup, I'm still on Win 7 and it looks like Win 95 LOL
I bet I'll make Win 10 look Classic when I upgrade HAHA

I like how different XP was from vista at the time. Windows 8 was pretty similar to windows 7, but with the unintuitive start metro menu and windows 8.1 compared to 10 is almost identical but it 10 has an appropiate start menu again

    • @pavekki

I think people were all upgrading to LCD widescreen displays at the time of Vista, whereas CRTs were popular during the XP days. That may be why the icons are bigger, and higher resolution, too.

  • @davinp

Before Windows Vista, Microsoft was working on Windows "Longhorn" but it got dropped and they rushed to get Vista out in 2006. As a result, Vista was buggy and hardware didn't work on it. Vista also introduced Tablet Tools. Sticky Notes didn't come with Vista - it was part of gadgets. Vista has more modern interface than XP. Since Microsoft is dropping support next year, some software developers are already dropping support for Vista

The biggest thing imo that Vista added (which seems to have been disliked at the time) was for a kind of protection against a stalled program stalling the whole computer. You have no idea how many times I had to restart my computer because of Spore. With Vista, if a program stalled or had a big error, the program would like be paused and it didn't seem to affect the operating system too much. So stalling apps were less of a threat. The problem was that this was a rather new technology and it was way too sensitive. So it paused apps more often than necessary

  • @MyLastSong719
    @MyLastSong719 7 лет назад +6

That is why Vista was received so poorly. The hardware we had back then just couldn't handle Vista. People were blaming the OS when in fact it was the hardware they were using, yes the OS was probably not as optimized as i could have been since it was rushed but the hardware was still not enough in my opinion. Even manufactures like HP and Toshiba were shipping laptops that just didn't have the specs needed to run Vista. Microsoft should have upped the system requirements but obviously we were in a time where the hardware was just not where i needed to be. In my opinion Vista was way ahead of its time

I hated XP for its looks, do not miss it actually. I thought that Luna ui was butt ugly. Win 7 and 8.1 are the best looking OS by Microsoft. 10 looks pretty good, but a little bland. Even though Windows 11 isn’t out yet, it looks ugly, just ugly.

Windows Vista can barely run with 256MB of RAM. Every kind of sound is distorted with it. Similar to Windows 7, just one program and your system is going to tell you that you are low on memory. This is very similar to Windows 7, because Windows 7 can also barely run at 256MB. If you want an optimal kind of Vista, use 1GB.

I love both XP & Vista. I also love Windows 98 & 7. On the subject of themes, I love Windows XP's "Luna" theme alot better than Vista or 7's "Aero" theme.
I have a desktop XP, desktop 7, & my current Windows 10 laptop.
My family's first laptop was a Vista. It was broke a few years ago. I have a Windows 8, but it has a split wire in the charge port.

*Windows Vista* is the first _modern_ version of Windows.
Advanced and completely overhauled power management and associated capabilities (e.g., Hybrid Sleep)
    ASLR
    (Address Space Layout Randomization)
BitLocker Drive Encryption (device encryption, including even the optional ability in the Ultimate edition to save recovery keys in 'the cloud')
    Credential Providers
(replacing GINA; in fact, even Windows Hello is a Credential Provider)
Deployment, diagnostic, imaging, and setup technologies (e.g., Startup Repair)
    Desktop Window Manager
(desktop composition responsible for Windows AERO and required in Windows 8 and later)
    Device Installation Control
(Group Policies for locking down installation and/or use of peripheral devices)
    Full IPv6 support
(not this add-on junk in Windows XP and earlier)
Instant Search and Property System platform
(the importance of these cannot be overstated; search in the Start menu!)
    Integrated speech recognition
    (see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Speech_Recognition )
Mandatory Integrity Control (for perspective, used by Microsoft Office 2010 for Protected View)
    Parental Controls
(take that, Windows 7 and Windows 10)
Present audio subsystem, effects (e.g., Bass Boost), and application volume control
(e.g., mute Windows Live Messenger while listening to music)
    Prioritized I/O
    (used by Windows Search!)
Saved Searches (think the power of Outlook but for all Items in addition to email)
    Service Hardening
(locking down Windows Services to prevent, say, some from accessing the Internet)
Support for hard drives other than traditional HDDs (SSHDs)
    Taskbar thumbnails
Task Scheduler (still in use in Windows 10!)
    Touchscreen support for fingers
    User Account Control
    (need I write more?)
User Interface Privilege Isolation (for perspective, used by Microsoft Office 2010 for Protected View)
    WDDM
    (DirectX powered desktop!)
Windows Backup (including Windows Complete PC Backup)
    Windows Boot Manager
(replacing the loader in use in Windows NT since its inception)
    Windows Defender
(complete with features beneficial to the community)
Windows Firewall _outbound_ blocking, logging, and monitoring
Windows Filtering Platform (network technologies used by, say, Windows Firewall and required for Microsoft certification for Avira)
    Windows Update
    client (previously a Website!)
There are other features such as breadcrumbs, the details pane, or the preview pane in Windows Explorer. The list goes on and on. I *love* Windows Vista!

    3gb ddr2 ram
    Far cry -
Windows xp - 38 fps first level
Windows vista - 27 fps first level
Why am i getting 11 fps less on vista? Same settings for far cry on both systems lowering settings on vista from very high to medium only gives me like +4 fps?!? Windows xp pro was with sp3 and all updates installed vista home premium 32bit sp2 all updates installed i think.. pc gets a 4.2 from windows experience /Processor getting lowest rating 4.2 rest is 5.2 or higher. Latest drivers for gpu are installed /365.19. the os itself runs very smoothly probably smoother than xp and uses around 500 mb ram on idle and 5 or 0% cpu. Any idea why im getting so much less fps?

The Aero feature is quite a technological advancement, but is it really all that useful? I've found the blurry transparent window headers of no use to me. If there's a window I'm looking for, I just click it on the taskbar. Oh, and I'm one of those ones who hates grouped taskbar buttons. A lot easier and faster to switch between windows when ungrouped than grouped. That's available on XP but not on later Windows, so a big reason I'm resisting upgrades.

Lifehack to people with Windows 10 buld 1511 or newer to make it feel a bit more similar to XP estetically - google "Bliss 1920x1080", download this image, then go to Personalize, set all toggles in "Colors" submenu to "On" set automatic color and set "Bliss" as a wallpaper. And presto. It sounds harder than it actually is, takes it just one or two minutes and It's going to look good even on pretty weak hardware.
But heck how long I used Windows XP. Up to 2012 when I bought back then brand new PC and installed Windows 7 on it, I guess. Sadly, I had to reinstall that Windows 7 because I've installed x86 OS and after I needed x64 one.

Actually anything with pixel shader 2.0 could run aero, but you needed a beastly CPU at the time to run it decently, like 3 ghz quad core at the least.

er... my Windows 7 (now 10) PC has a 2.16 GHz Dual Core Intel Pentium processor and it ran Aero just fine.
I have an old laptop that I upgraded from Windows XP to 7 that has a Dual-Core Intel Core Duo with I think a CPU around 2 GHz that runs Aero just fine

Almost everyone hated Vista the whole time it's been around and it was so bad that they decided to go back to Windows XP or upgrade to Windows 7 instead. But me and my mum like Vista.

I like Windows XP for its cool design. I like Windows Vista cause it was so beautiful and with Service Pack 2 its noice. Windows 7 was also quite good but it lacked some features from Vista however it was very popular and a bit less buggy(only if you compare windows 7 to windows vista rtm orelse not much more). Windows 8 was pretty trash. Windows 8.1 is okay-ish through my experience. Windows 10 is very good because microsoft brought back the classic(sorta) start menu but through updates, Microsoft is killing off the older stuff which we all love and inherited.

Griggle Wriggle Windows 10 is trash. Not the OS itself, but the updates. Cortana should be an option, not a forced feature.
