WOW! Just, WOW. I've watched a million wood turning videos, seen so many unique and beautiful pieces; this one may just blow them all out of the water. Something about the wood grain and the colors you chose for the resin, blended together in a way that makes the resin look like it's supposed to be there and even enhances the wood. Many resin wood projects I've seen, while beautiful, the resin is a kind of counterpoint to the wood, to create interest. This is so different its hard to describe. It's simply......stunning. I love it
Of all the ways to deal with voids, this is my favorite. I love the combination of funky wood and swirly resin. It looks great and this piece is amazing!! Great job, Matt. Cheers.
I tried to develop my artistic side, so I did photography when it was 35mm film spent a fortune and all i got was blurry pictures, tried model building and dioramas what a pile of crap i created. You wood turning artists take a piece of tree root or a gnarly piece of wood and make something awesome and beautiful. Awesome 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing
After seeing the wood loss in the beginning, I wondered how you would pull a rabbit out of your hat and make a beautiful work of art. You did. It is a beauty.

I realky like that you include the sounds of the machinery and all the little sounds of the process, rather than some irritating music track. This alone makes your videos far superior to some other wood turning videos. And of course I love your work!
You beat me to it. A brother-in-law saved my Red Delicious tree by grafting on a few Ginger Gold shoots he got at Michigan State. Now, 20 years later, Ginger Gold is all it produces. The RD branches became firewood.
This is an extraordinary piece. You did an excellent job recycle what looked like a doomed piece. With your acrylic plastic method, it's like you do you best work with very imperfect pieces of wood.
This is my first time watching wood turning. I love wood but it looked as if you were destroying all that made it special. My heart was racing, then came the final result, magnificent. I wanted to cry it's so beautiful. It is simply stunning!
@@carterdartt I am not deeply depressed nor insane. I did not cry. Sometimes the beauty in a work of art can move a person emotionally and that creates joy.
3k for the basic setup, extend that out to more and you could easily get to 10k once you add it all up, thats GBP. Problem is, there is no real set up for most projects, because I try to do different things all the time, and each one of those tends to have its own tools and equipment. e.g pen making, its about £70 for a decent pen press, then each type of pen normally has different size sleeves, so you end up buying specific drills for each pen etc. Chucks are about £150 each, I have 3, then I have about 10 different jaw sets for different things and each jaw set is between £30 and £70, you can see how it starts to add up.
