Thank you thank you! I just pulled my 7 year old out of a homeschool that was so curriculum based he was starting to hate learning. The fear was real, the letting go was hard, but so freeing. I have lots of questions and worries and so happy to find your channel!!!!

Thank you for Breaking it down in a way that most everyone can comprehend. Many who have the "School" background fight that institutionalized way of thinking. I will probably watch this again and repost it on Odysee . You may want to upload all your youtube content on to Odysee.

Well said! Totally agree with your goals - relationships and teaching them about the Lord are key! Looking forward to your videos about how you unschool each subject. 😄

I'm not a parent but I'm a teacher and I've spent years in the traditional school setting and in the pre-school realm I've seen how the centers operate and believe me I've found so many things just wrong with this system not even mentioning the cost. I feel unschooling and homeschooling are the wave of the future! I'm on my own journey for self-teaching graduate school and I'm logging my journey on my channel. I've been to college and I graduated with my degree in education and although I respect the university and school systems, I do realize and see the many flaws and I feel with online courses and many of them being free as well as books.
What do we do in college, we get a textbook, listen to lectures and take tests, and yes in some courses we do lab work and onsight observations and internships. But we could be doing this from our homes through taking free or very discounted courses and get textbooks and other resource books from the library or purchase them again fairly cost-effectively, therefore saving ourselves thousands of dollars and choosing what to learn. I can't tell you how many courses in college I was made to take that didn't even pertain to my field of expertise and did not facilitate my field in any way, so it was a waste of my time and money. I thought long and hard about going to grad school but after my research and long thought, I have decided to go the route of self-teaching. I'm an autodidact and extreme introvert and for me, this is just the path I feel is best for me.
Another one of my goals is to create courses online for homeschoolers that are very cost-effective and a high-quality education! I'm also planning to tutor online those in the homeschool setting. It's a lofty goal but I just feel this is a far better education than what kids are getting in the traditional school setting. They can take my lessons and play them at any time of the day or night and learn. They also will have the freedom to learn in their own way by using their creative genius and design their own study plan. At least, this is my overarching goal!
I love what you're doing for yourself and your children and I'm looking forward to your new series! If I can ever help in any way, feel free to reach out to me! God bless you and your lovely children!

I’m so glad you articulated this so well! I’m going to end up sharing this with multiple people, I’m sure. I feel like our “unschooling” methodologies are very similar to yours. I especially liked hearing you talk about introducing your kids to things they don’t yet know they are interested in and the resources you provide. Thanks for sharing!

I'm looking forward to this series. We unschooled this past year, but I'm adding some structure back into it. I think a lot is from fear of my kids not learning something I feel they should by adulthood. Its hard to trust they will know what they need to even if you believe they can figure it out when they want. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm looking forward to what you have to share.

I love your approach and style and really feel this is something I would love to do with my 7 year old daughter. To be honest COVID-19 seems to be steering me in this direction because the home schooling work being set for my daughter because of Lockdown is just ridiculous and wayyyy beyond her. It is just so demoralising for her, and me for that matter and I can’t take the pressure of this way of forced learning anymore. I have kind of started to test the water so to speak with my little girl with Unschooling as I love the idea, but I don’t feel I am getting anywhere because I seem to be putting her off books as I keep trying to get her to read, she has a very short attention span, and am just struggling to find a starting point to learning with her. Please help from a Mummy who is feeling a bit lost 😞

Thank you for this. I’m new to unschooling and I have difficulty letting go of the strict curriculum. I am also conflicted about letting them run free so they can figure out what they are interested in. I have the constant urge to plan the day and I know I shouldn’t try to recreate school at home. There’s so much uncertainty but I can see a positive change in my kids so far. They like learning this way, but they still complain about learning. How did you overcome this obstacle? I think regular school has dimmed that light a little. I’m hoping they’ll have some time to adjust and figure out that they love learning again. 😊

I think kids (especially those who have gone to school before) have this idea of what "learning" is supposed to look like (sitting in desks and doing worksheets) so they decide they don't like it. I try to catch my kids learning something on their own or that is interesting and then point out to them that they are actually learning right then so they realize learning takes place anywhere and everywhere.
