What you didn't see was that the replacement motor that I attempted to install did not end up as a spinal motor, It actually went in to where the sled motor was and the sled motor went into where the spin the motor was and the reason for that was because the screws did not line up perfectly and I could only get one screw in which caused the motor to not be quite at the right angle. The sled motor however was an identical motor so I took the sled motor and put that in where the spindle is and put that other motor that came out of the old city player in place of the slide motor because the screw is lined up for that 1. In the end it works perfect so that's all that matters right. I probably couldn't use the motor that opens and closes the tray as well because that motors also the same.
The problem with streaming is that there's no guarantee that your favorite show is going to be there past The End of the month period I set Netflix notice when they took the show homeland away which was probably the only reason I was keeping it because I wanted to watch that series again from the beginning then I noticed it was gone as was a few other shows that I was hanging on to Netflix for so I downgraded to this cheap plan with ADS but even that's gonna be going soon as I very really watch it Period I don't have any streaming music service there's no Spotify or any of that crap.
I was scrolling and saw the picquic handle in the thumbnail and had to stop in. They're really my favorite screwdriver and sometimes hard to get in the US.

Many years ago I was given an old Beta one play back only machine they had a auto-repeat function on it so I took an L5 100 tape and recorded some Beta 1 content for 1 hour. I then put the machine on repeat mode and just let it play Over and Over and Over and Over keeping track of how many times the tape played since I knew it was a 1 hour tape that would Run for an hour and Then Rewind and it took 3 minutes to Rewind I could count on roughly 24 plays in a day and I kept playing the tape and checking it on the monitor every day to see How Long it would Go before it died PERIOD the tape wore out After approximately 400 plays. When I say warrow I mean that the tape had developed lots of dropouts and was noticeably poor quality than the original which was testing those that were recorded on this tape period so I put another tape in and started the same thing to see how long it would go I found that the heads on this playback machine lasted around 5000 hours before they were really noticeably displaying symptoms that they were starting to wear period I continue doing this until 1 day the machine was completely dead, The captain motor which in this case was about drive from A Small DC Motor to Drive the Captain Had Failed and When It Shorted It Took Out the Drive I see at this point the unit was disposed of but it took me a while to erect this machine that have been given to me i just wish that i had been documenting this at the time this was 40 years ago when i did this after all and it was a machine that was just given to me because someone had bought the thing thinking it was a recorder and finding out later that it was a playback only machine and it only played Beta 1. How did I come up with the 5000 hours before the heads were worn well it was between 6 and 7 months of running 24 hours a day before the picture was noticeably starting to deteriorate. When you think about it that's not all that much.
Hi dave great video and good save on the dvd player i repaired my own the other day with a ebay motor it came as just the motor no top disk (the part you put glue on) what is the correct procedure too get the height correct i had too do trial and error but still skips at times can you make a video if and when you have time on how too set the height correctly regards vince
@12Voltvids. I have a question What is the Resistance of a Stereo Tape head. I can Explain You See I have this vintage Boombox a Toshiba RT-80S but the Tape deck is un - fixable the part of the Mechanism that pushed up the head turned back in to oil. and the boombox has no other inputs for audio. so I must go through where the tape head was Attached That's Why I need to know. I've tried going to audio forums but they all told me you shouldn't do that with a tape head and left it at that which was no help to me. So I thought I'd ask a professional. Could you help me?
You catchers hooked to wear the tape head was because in addition to be the impedance being wrong the tape had goes through a preamp and equalization. You need to go in after the preamp. The input selector switch is a good place.
Those DC motors are pretty standard I bought a bunch of them off Ali express for around 1 dollar a piece to repair a DVD player I had for the hell of it. Specs aren't that critical it's just a standard brushed DC motor the DVD drive controller likely pulse width modulates the motor to adjust the speed and uses the rate that the bits that are coming off the disc to determine if it's spinning at the right speed. At least it's not a brushless DC spindle motor that Sony was so fond of they always had to over complicate everything.
Interesting longevity test result. 24 hours in a day x 365 is 8760 hours in a year, and how many years it's been going? Probably it has a lot more than 10.000 hours on it :) My first dvd player just turned 20 years old this year, so far no problems, but of course it's not in use 24 hours even in a year, so looking at your machine, I probably don't have to worry about it wearing out any time soon. My PS2 might be even older than that, bought it used in 2017, and not sure how old it actually is, but anyway, it's still working as well. It's the original "fat" style SCPH-30004 version, I guess manufactured between 2000 - 2004, then they introduced the Slim version. It works, but of course I don't know if something has been done to it by previous owner(-s). At least the warranty sticker is intact, but that could've been replaced as well. I suspect it's been opened at some point, because the battery still keeps the time and date. I don't believe it has original battery anymore. My PS3 Slim battery started failing already at 10 years old, and I know it's history because I bought it new. PS2 of course works as a dvd player as well, even it's mostly a videogame console.

I ground myself to the chassis and didn't actually touch the connector on the laser, just the insulated part of ribbon and one hand was in contact with the chassis which would dissipate any static charge. Never blown a laser yet.. Hmm maybe I should rephrase that.. LOL

That was the rough footage that I just dumped to DVD and then I imported the DVD and made the final edit from that which is up on my channel and you'll see that that opening shot did not make it into the final cut

I really would like to but I don't know that I could put that 1 on RUclips I'm pretty sure that that 1 would get pulled down pretty quick. I'm sure you know how the women get all the beads. I didn't shoot the footage that I have it was given to me on 3/4 inch by a buddy that was in broadcast that got it off a satellite feed I'm sure every TV station in the country has a copy of it kicking around but I got a 3/4 inch of the footage that didn't make it to the air pretty ranch stuff not for family viewing.

"B's n' Butts " shakin' n gyrating to the beat of the absolute worst music imaginable ! So kinda like Marti Gras except no beads in sight. ...Well, maybe a certain kind of beads can be found, but i wouldn't put those around my neck ! :-)
May sound strange but wash the burning area with MILK, Yes Milk..... At my age when ever I eat anything spicy nowadays, I always have a Glass of Milk with it HAHAHAHAHAH How coincidental, I just copied My 1988 & 89 Oshkosh Air shows to DVD. Thanks Dave....

I have a dero tower fan. 12 speeds have had it 3 years. It's great.
Toshiba was my first DVD player SD 2108 my brother still has it and works fine. 25 plus years old. Like your work as always.👍
Mine was a Pioneer that cost like $400 from circuit city.
I use dvd/blu ray and will continue to do so along with ny vhs player. Streaming is so wrong for many reasons

I sold one of these for $10 I remember purchasing it new for around $47 in around December of 2005

I think DVD players spin at a higher RPM than CDs.
500 rpm for CDs until nearer the edge when they slow down to 200 rpm.
