I have the same DVD player with the same problem. This video helped me get the drawer open and working again. It seemed to work once I moved the drawer manually. As he said it hadn't been played in a while and was out in my shed. (hot and cold) Thanks for this video.
Assumed it was the belt like most people. My mechanism wouldn't come away from the front-panel whatever I tried, so I couldn't power up the motor externally. But after helping it in and out a few times, it now works every time. I guess the player hadn't been used for a while as stated in your vid and needed a bit of exercise! Your fix works - thanks!
I had a Technics CD player that was kept behind a glass door in one of those particle-board-fake-wood cabinets. It was never the same after trying to eject it with the glass door closed. It still worked, but it sounded awful, like it was all it could do to push-out that tray.
I fixed a toy barking dog I got off of eBay. They said it didn't work. I got it to work by hitting it with 6 or 12 volts from a battery charger. (It uses 3 volts). I just did it for a second. It got it working again.
@@ACommenterOnRUclips I don't watch any sitcoms nor reality. Have never seen survivor or big brother, 3rd rock, friend's, big bang ect. Seinfeld, corner gas, curb your enthusiasm sure but none of that other crap. This isn't my dvd player. Belongs to a neighbour that wanted the disk removed and that is all. Didn't even want it fixed. Gave me a 20 to get the disk out
My piece if junk now because I was paid 20 bucks just to get the DVD out and told to recycle the player so it goes into my collection. I have a toshiba remote so I am good for an auto repeat player
I try to charge for my time but some customers are very tight with their money. What i have started to do is contact the customer and inform them that the time spent on their item is going beyond what is reasonable, they then make the decision to continue or stop and reasemble the item.@@12voltvids
I had this problem on a Blu-Ray player about a year ago. Just exercising the motor seemed to fix it. I'll try the external power trick next time. Here is a link to my fix. ruclips.net/video/PrdIQPMbq3I/видео.html

Cool, fixed by "Italian tune-up", aka giving it the beans :D
Lol yes blow the carbon out
Great fix, just zapp the sucker with a good amount of voltage :)

Some rechargeable batteries come back by doing this. Don't do it with lithium though.
Love those quick fixes when they happen wish they were all that easy
This DVD player was made by Venturer Electronics in China for Toshiba.
Have you found that these 2006 Toshibas will not play newer DVDs ?
No but I only play burned discs. I don't buy movies and there are no rental stores. I do burn a lot of discs however.
I hope you don't get a content match strike with the Friends theme playing in the background for a while 😅
Its an edit version not the theme
I think I bought one of those for $35 US back in the day for a backup and only used UT once.
What is your other job?
Dirty or oxidized com bars in motor?
Probably
I didn't realise you were a Friends fan, Dave!
Never seen a single episode

That reel to reel machine made me cringe at the effort it took and the ammount you probably got paid. Its different when its your own equipment.
I charged a bit for ut but still not enough for the time spent because remember I had to fix the reel table last week as it had been dropped.
You need an easy one now again to compensate for the many hours that you spend on others
but are reluctant to charge for.

do you have a client who asked you to fix it ?
