Is it 1k lb working load, or tensile strength? You mention that it’s really common, but I’ve had a hell of a time finding 1k lb working-load rope with a diameter small enough for the Pruisik knot. Where am I going writing?
That rope was working load but I have upgraded since then to some better rope. A 6mm rope should work with rope the is 8-11mm. A quick search on amazon and I found 6mm rope with 5600lb tensile strength.
