      “If we defined a restricted timeline, then there would be a definitive story, and it would eliminate the room for imagination, which wouldn’t be as fun. [...] This time, we decided that we would avoid making clarifications. I hope that everyone can find their own answer, in their own way.”

    If anyone notice, the "game over" theme from Minish cap is the prologue tune from ALttp, I wonder if its Nintendo subtle way to imply that Alltp is in "fallen hero" timeline....

    • @ZeldaLore
      @ZeldaLore  3 года назад +11

      That's certainly an interesting easter egg! And it certainly may imply a connection to ALTTP, but not the way you described.
      The current timeline presented in Hyrule Historia and Encyclopedia is wrong in many ways, primarily in the placement of Four Swords Adventures after TP, as it's a direct continuation of Four Sword with the same Link and Zelda, with the prologue stating a perior of peace passed after the defeat of Vaati in Four Swords before the dark clouds of FSA appeared (there is no major timejump, and no conflicts in between, which contradicts the current timeline as it has the Hyrulean Civil War, Ocarina, Ganondorf's invasion and Twilight Princess)
      The problem comes with Ganon having a new origin in FSA, since Ganondorf gets his own backstory in Ocarina of Time.
      NintendoBlackCrisis went over a timeline made by Lorulean Historian where Minish Cap splits the timeline in two: the true ending leads to Ocarina of Time, with it having Vaati killed. However, there is another ending before yoy beat Vaati. If you fail to reach him as he performs the ceremony to absorb Zelda's Force, he successfully absorbs all of it and you get a gameover. The new timeline would then have Vaati turn into the wind mage, be sealed into the Four Sword and the events of FS and FS adventures take place.
      ruclips.net/video/KNrbD4Igr38/видео.html
      Curiously, Four Swords Adventures serves as a prequel to ALTTP, since the origin of the Trident, and items like que Quake medallion are explained, as well as dungeons and locations from ALTTP showing up, with the map being almost identical.
      And as it takes place in a timeline that leads to a gameover, it lends even more credibility to that timeline (which should be canon)
      The Ganon from FSA would then be the same Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time in a separate timeline, the imprisoning war would be parallel to Ocarina of Time, Twinrova from the oracle games would be the same one from Ocarina, who would still be alive rather than dying etc. It fixes everything.

      A Link to the Past is definitely in the Fallen Hero timeline, after a negative outcome of Ocarina of Time when Ganondorf uses the Triforce of Power to become Ganon and OoT Link not being able to learn that Ganon's weak point is his tail and ends up getting killed, allowing Ganon to get the Triforce of Courage, and getting sealed in the Sacred Realm with the Triforce of Wisdom, which is how he got all three Triforces prior to the Imprisoning War.

    After being sealed in the Dark World, why didn't Ganon just use the Triforce to break the seal? The sages' seal is stronger than the Triforce?

    • @ZeldaLore
      @ZeldaLore  3 года назад +2

      He was working on it. I guess the sages created a counter measure to ensure the Triforce couldn't be used, although if the Triforce can grant any wish, this could be a plot hole. He did send a fragment of his soul in the form of Agahnim to the Light World though. Maybe the seal is much stronger than we thought.

    • @ZeldaLore
      @ZeldaLore  3 года назад +1

      I've talked to a few friends about this just now and it's possible that the Triforce may only allow one wish per person. Ganon made a wish when acquiring the relic, and that would be it. Same thing happened in SS. Link could have used the Triforce again to simply wish Zelda back from the past and destroy Ghirahim after she is kidnapped, but he doesn't.

    • @andrewkirkpatrick4547

      ガノンの願いは世界を手にすることでした。その悪しき願いは聖地を闇の世界にかえてしまいそこで力をたくわえたガノンはじぶんの願いをかなえるために光の世界へ現れるつもりでした
      Ganon's wish was to conquer the world. That evil wish changed the sacred land into the World of Darkness. Once he had stored up power there, Ganon intended to come into the World of Light in order to fulfill his wish.
      ~ Spirit of the Triforce (A Link to the Past)
      Ganon's wish had not been fully fulfilled too, which may mean several things:
      1) A person only gets one wish and Ganon's wish was still being fulfilled
      2) Ganon's wish is being fulfilled and until it is complete he can't make another wish, probably as it would cancel out the other wish.
      I do think that one wish per person makes sense. It would prevent the Triforce from being abused, and it's a limitation I see the Goddesses placing on the Triforce, they already limited it's use to only mortals.

    • @QuasarEE
      @QuasarEE 3 года назад

      I've always figured there had to be an element of divine intervention for it to even be possible in the first place. I don't see how the sages alone could have sealed Ganon with the full Triforce; he could just wish them into oblivion. If however the sages had prayed to the golden goddesses in that moment (which they do call upon them actually, even in the game's normally depicted events, as Rauru calls on the "Ancient creators of Hyrule" to open the door to the void) then there would be a power involved equal to the Triforce and this intervention is what made the seal possible at all.

    Until one day a great evil once again came out of death mountain. Gannon!
    A small kingdom in the land of Hyrule is engulfed by chaos when an army led by Ganon, the prince of darkness, invades and steals the Triforce of Power, one part of a magical artifact which alone bestows great strength.[10] In an attempt to prevent him from acquiring the Triforce of Wisdom, Princess Zelda splits it into eight fragments and hides them in secret underground dungeons.[10] Before eventually being kidnapped by Ganon, she commands her nursemaid Impa to find someone courageous enough to save the kingdom.[10] While wandering the land, the old woman is surrounded by Ganon's henchmen, when a young boy named Link appears and rescues her.[10] Upon hearing Impa's plea, he resolves to save Zelda and sets out to reassemble the scattered fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, with which Ganon can then be defeated.[10]
    During the course of the tale, Link locates and braves the eight underworld labyrinths, and beyond their defeated guardian monsters retrieves each fragment. With the completed Triforce of Wisdom, he is able to infiltrate Ganon's hideout in Death Mountain, confronting the prince of darkness and destroying him with the Silver Arrow.[30] Obtaining the Triforce of Power from Ganon's ashes, Link returns it and the restored Triforce of Wisdom to the rescued Princess Zelda, and peace returns to Hyrule.[31]

    Someone PLEASE explain how this is meant to be a prequel to the NES Legend of Zelda? Because when put in context the state of Hyrule in Ocarina of Time if Link fails, it makes more sense the original LoZ and Link’s Adventure take place directly after OoT, considering Hyrule is in a state of ruin in the first Zelda and villages start appearing in Link’s Adventure after that Ganon has fallen. Honestly it seems like only in North America and Europe is this game considered a prequel.

    • @ZeldaLore
      @ZeldaLore  2 года назад +3

      Let's start at the beginning:
      The Adventure of Link released as a sequel to the original Legend of Zelda. In it, it detailed events of the past when "Hyrule was still one country", in which the King of Hyrule hid the Triforce of Courage, and a Princess named Zelda was cursed by an evil magician into an endless sleep.
      昔、まだハイラルが1つの国だったころ、偉大なる王がトライフォースを使って、ハイラルの秩序を保っておったそううじゃ。
      Long ago, when *Hyrule was still one country,* a great King was said to have used the Triforce to maintain order in Hyrule. ~ Manual (The Adventure of Link)
      Then, Nintendo made A Link to the Past ("Triforce of the Gods" in Japan), set "In an era when Hyrule was still one country.
      今度の舞台はリンクが活躍した頃よりも遥か昔、ハイラルが、まだ一つの王国であった時代。
      This time, the game is set a long time before the adventures of Link, in an era when Hyrule was still one country.
      -Back cover (A Link to the Past)
      It is believed that early in ALTTP's development they intended to re-tell the events of the Tragedy of Zelda the First and the magician who cursed her, the magician eventually becoming Agahnim in the final game.
      Then Link's Awakening released as a direct sequel to ALTTP.
      And then, Nintendo decided to make a 3D Zelda, the first of its kind: Ocarina of Time. The game began as a 3D remake of The Adventure of Link, then evolved to be a sequel of The Adventure of Link, and finally a prequel to ALTTP detailing the events of the Imprisoning War gone over in the game's manual, and as the game's development progressed, more and more details of the Imprisoning War were changed until both stories were different with varying similarities.
      Then came Majora's Mask set "a few months" after Ocarina of Time.
      I don´t buy the idea that Link died for a timeline to exist, that was just an interpretation third party writters who had no involvement with the games or the Zelda team came up with, basically the made that up to try to explain why the Seal War and the events of Ocarina of Time are so different. I instead believe the events of Ocarina of Time and the Imprisoning War are parallel events taking place at the exact same time in different realities, with a timeline split having taken place much earlier on in the timeline.

    • @dailthegoat799
      @dailthegoat799 11 месяцев назад

      Here’s how I thought about it
      ALTTP the entire game takes place. And peace comes back to the country of Hyrule.
      After the kings death Princess Zelda is now ruler and gets the triforce of wisdom.
      Then the first game takes place.
      Hyrule is engulfed by chaos when an army led by Ganon, the prince of darkness, invades and steals the Triforce of Power, one part of a magical artifact which alone bestows great strength. In an attempt to prevent him from acquiring the Triforce of Wisdom, Princess Zelda splits it into eight fragments and hides them in secret underground dungeons. Before eventually being kidnapped by Ganon, she commands her nursemaid Impa to find someone courageous enough to save the kingdom. While wandering the land, the old woman is surrounded by Ganon's henchmen, when a young boy named Link appears and rescues her.Upon hearing Impa's plea, he resolves to save Zelda and sets out to reassemble the scattered fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, with which Ganon can then be defeated.
      During the course of the tale, Link locates and braves the eight underworld labyrinths, and beyond their defeated guardian monsters retrieves each fragment. With the completed Triforce of Wisdom, he is able to infiltrate Ganon's hideout in Death Mountain, confronting the prince of darkness and destroying him with the Silver Arrow. Obtaining the Triforce of Power from Ganon's ashes, Link returns it and the restored Triforce of Wisdom to the rescued Princess Zelda, and peace returns to Hyrule.

      According to Hyrule Historia and Hyrule Encyclopedia, the hero of time was defeated by Ganondorf, who took all Triforce pieces from them and transformed into Ganon. The hero from A Link to the Past is a different person entirely, born centuries later.
      However, this connection between games is never stated in the games, and it actually contradicts the manual with the backstory from ALTTP, which goes in detail over the Seal War, how Ganondorf and his band of thieves entered the sacred realm and Ganondorf took the triforce and became the Demon King in that moment, and how there was no hero to stop him and so the sages (who tried to look for both the hero and the master sword, which is the opposite of what happened in Ocarina of Time) and the knights of Hyrule resorted to seal him away instead.
      I recommend you watch my "Fixing the Timeline" video. I go in detail over all the games and the inconsistencies about the current timeline (which Nintendo themselves say is not definitive and is subject to change)

      reincarnation, the goddess hylia gave up her divinity and became the human princess zelda and appointed a hero link as her champion who were both cursed when they defeated the demon king demise in skyward sword, that despite the defeat of demise his evil would incarnate again and again causing a cycle where they would reincarnate over and over and essentially do it all over again. ganondorf in ocarina of time was the incarnation of demise. link and zelda both constantly reincarnate whenever the power of demises evil grows strong enough to incarnate in the world once more so they can fight to stop hyrule from forever plunging into dartkness.

    I just found out I was subscribed to you.
    This is good, I like the story segment!
    However, I must admit that we are not using the same Lore....
    Firstly, you are using the localized version of the game and manual with their many flaws, one example I can think of is the mention of a council of sages studying the seal, there is no such thing in the Japanese version and it even omits details like them praying to the divine(kami) after that the King's research was unsuccessful.
    That is to say, to a japanese audience, many of the informations in your videos are unaccurate.
    But I can understand how searching for this much accuracy can be troublesome, not everyone is knowledgeable about Japanese but I and many other fans are sharing translations and pointing out the inaccuracies in the localizations. If you desire to know more, I can share you a discord server where we do that and be glad to share our work with you.
    Secondly, you are using Historia and Encyclopedia's original lore, while they are official Nintendo products, they are demonstrably not the view of the Zelda team and contradictory to the games.
    To an average fan, they don't see the point of such nitpicking but for us, the really dedicated ones, it's important.
    As such, I can not acknwoledge your work as accurate but you do you.

      I 100% agree with you on this. When it comes to the downfall timeline (and ALTTP specially) there are so many mistranslations, errors and retcons its unreal.
      I do agree with what you say about HH and HE, they are not 100% accurate, and I just use them as extra information while contrasting them with the actual games. The thing is the games themselves change things with localizations.
