      That's how the downfall timeline really begins. Link wasn't defeated: He woke up, saw the swirling death halo over Death Mountain and all the Redeads in the marketplace, and said "Fuck this shit, I'm out." Instantly lost the Triforce of Courage as a result, and instead went off to go fight a samurai and some Greek chicks. Ganondorf was surprised to have gotten the Triforce of Courage so easily after 7 long years, and it wasn't long after he discovered Zelda's ninja cosplay fetish and finally got the Triforce whole again.

    In my mind, I see the gameplay of the "tennis match" as a limitation of the hardware and the controller, and the gameplay. I imagine that battle to have been a hectic clash with Ganondorf blasting out dozens of magic arrows towards Link as he rolls around dodging or deflecting with his shield, maybe even returning a few with the Master Sword. I'm sure everyone has seen the OFFICIAL art of the two fighting in that final battle. Never in game do we see Ganondorf about to punch Link in midair like that. OoT was limited by the tech, and even today I doubt they'd go for that approach. Ganondorf wouldn't be stupid enough to use a single projectile like that. Again, this is my interpretation, before anyone says "bbb-but muh phantom ganons and tp ganondorf," realize it's a gimmick of the fight. If he's as intelligent as they've always implied and shown him to be, he'd know the weapon that was pointed at him, and what is at stake in the fight.
    In short, for me, I have always seen the downfall timeline's beginning as Link dying to Ganondorf, not Ganon. As for the stuff about LttP Link being descended from the hero of time? I'm not too sure on that, I always read it as him being from a line of Hyrule's knights, and he happens to be the next reincarnation in their time of need. It fits in my head. Thank you for reading my headganon.

      It's also worth noting that he's also sometimes called Ganondorf, King of Thieves, which is what he was called by a maiden recounting the Great Cataclysm. Given this, it seems likely Hero of Time is defeated by Ganondorf, not Ganon, who Ganondorf transforms into later. My guess is it's a warping due to the Triforce. Hero of Legend is descended from the Hylian Knights. The only thing Links have in common is the spirit of the Hero.

    My private canon for the "Death" timeline is that when you use the master sword to go back in time to do child 2 parts of the game, the adult 1 timeline is simply left without a hero. The winning timelines are the splits after zelda sends you back after credits.

    • @dancooper5423
      @dancooper5423 Год назад +2

      I just came from a video detailing something simmilar: the fallen timeline being actually created because child 2 was left without a hero after Link came back to his original time, and using as evidence the fact that time still flows normally whenever you have to travel back in order to progress, thus, creating a timeline in which Link simply disaappeared and Ganondorf managed to win.

    • @InhabitantOfOddworld
      @InhabitantOfOddworld 11 месяцев назад

      Sort of, but it's a bit simpler
      3 realities
      Reality 1 - Child Link between starting the game and pulling the Master Sword. Link leaves this timeline reality when he travels becoming an adult. This reality is left without a hero, and is the Fallen Hero/Downfall timeline
      Reality 2 - Link arrives as an adult, defeats Ganon, and is sent away by Zelda. Ganon is defeated but this reality is now missing its Hero of Time. Hyrule then needs to be flooded to defeat Ganon again. This is the Adult timeline.
      Reality 3 - this is where Adult Link is sent to by Zelda to be a child again. Child Link rides off looking for Navi, arrives in Termina, and defeats Majora. Link then lives out the rest of his days in this reality, and when he dies, becomes a spirit shade that later fights the Hero of Twilight.
      It's basically a misconception that the Fallen timeline involved Link dying to Ganon. Ganon only won because there was no Link to oppose him. The key fact is that OoT treats timetravel the same way Avengers Endgame does, only Nintendo did it 20 years earlier

      @@InhabitantOfOddworld Well then how does Ganondorf obtain the full Triforce if neither Link who has courage is present and Zelda who never reveals herself and also has the Triforce of Wisdom is not present either.
      We see Ganondorf is unfit to obtain the full triforce naturally and vital for him to have the whole thing to lead into the Imprisoning War and ALttP.

    • @InhabitantOfOddworld
      @InhabitantOfOddworld 8 месяцев назад

      @firionkaiser8291
      Link and the Courage Triforce are NOT one and the same entity. Likewise with Zelda and the Wisdom Triforce.
      The Triforce has existed for eternity, and merely attaches itself to beings who exhibit it's values.
      Link has always been the most courageous being, so naturally the Triforce tends to attract toward him (at least, in the games that feature the Triforce).
      However, the Triforce's existence is not contingent on Link existing.
      In short, the Courage triforce still existed but Link was not there to defend it, so it was free for the taking by Ganon (or some other weaker being who could not stop Ganon was defeated), and without Link, Ganon was able to obtain the Wisdom Triforce from Child Zelda unimpeded.
      I can reiterate and explain all the live-long day, but this *is* more intelligible than the false notion that Link physically died in one of the timelines.

    • @firionkaiser8291
      @firionkaiser8291 8 месяцев назад

      @@InhabitantOfOddworld I wasn't saying they were the same entity but it's a known fact that OoT Ganondorf is incapable of obtaining the other two naturally, hence why he only obtained the Power half. Even if Link didn't exist, the Triforce of Wisdom would split off to Zelda who wouldn't just allow Ganondorf to take it from her especially since she would've been in hiding and Ganondorf is still incapable of obtaining Courage without fighting for it. We have examples of Hyrulean kings who were able to use the whole triforce because they had a balanced heart, something Ganondorf lacks and is the entire reason why he didn't obtain the other two parts in OoT.
      Link losing to Ganondorf isn't false notion. Its entirely possible for him to lose in that battle and with BotW out, we know it's not impossible for the hero to fail like he did 100 years prior to start of the game.
      Link losing against Ganondorf in the castle sets up some lore points that define ALttP through Zelda II. It's the only fight in the series where we have the OoT sages and the battle for the Triforce. Both are essential because the full Triforce would have to still be in the Sacred Realm now turned into the Dark World alongside with Ganondorf since that's where both would be during the Imprisoning War and ALttP. Aonuma named the OoT sages after the towns in Zelda II to make that connection that they were remembered after the events of OoT, making the Downfall Timeline similar to the adult timeline except OoT Link isn't worshipped or remembered at all. Without Link even being around, it's doubtful that they would've awakened to begin with. It makes it hard to believe that Ganondorf would be stuck in the Sacred Realm like the Imprisoning War and ALttP tell/shows us if Zelda lost her piece as a child and the OoT sages never awakened to seal him there to begin with.

    Do you have a video on the greatest mystery, though? When was the break in timeline that allowed the hero's defeat? The split between Child and Adult line happens when Link is sent back in time after winning the Ganon fight and changes the timeline. Is there another split that still allows for Link to be there in the final fight, both to win and to lose?
    The only possibility that occured to me was that Link might change the past on several occasions when he places the Master Sword back in the pedestal, but he always removes it again, so if he changed that timeline, he'd dissappear from another, not make a copy. How are there two Links, one winning and one losing?
    If you can answer those questions, Zeltik, I will be truly amazed.

    • @Xanji_San
      @Xanji_San 4 года назад +3

      EternalAzhrei so theres another theory floating around stating that Link was never beaten in combat by Ganon. It instead states that Link created a defeated timeline when he got to the Spirit Temple. Ganondorf has sealed the entrance to the Temple and Link needed to return to the past to retrieve the silver gauntlets, thereby leaving a timeline where Ganondorf had won, successfully blocking Link. When Link returns to future Hyrule, he created the other timeline which would split at some point between Link returning to the Past or staying in the future.

    As other said, there is very blatant moment that the timeline cracked into the third "Hero falls" timeline. It is when Ganondorf is defeated, but in a last gasp, uses the triforce to unleash the being that became known as Ganon. Before Link can act, Ganon does what no one has been able to do; knock the Master Sword out of his grasp and seal it behind a wall of impenetrable flames. It's at this moment, that Link in that timeline fell in an unwinnable battle. Despite the sealing war taking place, it did not seal away Ganondorf, but Ganon as he no longer could take on his Gerudo form in this timeline.

  • @nonoctoro4933
    @nonoctoro4933 5 лет назад +39

    Good but there was some errors.
    -Downfall Timeline's "OOT" events aren't those of the game. There are slightly different, and not only the ending.
    As Twinrova survived, she wasn't killed and came back in OOT. So the question is; Did Link really fought her, then ?
    The Sages' medaillon gives an additionnal Strength to Link, maybe he skipped this part and fought Ganondorf weaker.
    "Keep my spirit with you... And, find the power of the other Sages and add their might to your own!"
    -ALTTP Lore in the manual tells us that Ganondorf was indeed able to control the Power of the Triforce inside the sacred Realm and was with other Thieves that he killed before touching the sacred power with his hand full of their Blood. Ganondorf was surely helped by the Gerudo and killed them.
    But then Hyrule Historia slighly contradict the manual by saying that Ganondorf still made the triforce split and had to take it back from Link and Zelda.
    The Lore of the manual is still the founding Canon, so it's hard to see an inbetween with the two.
    -OOT Ganon and ALTTP Ganon aren't the same, as one only used the Triforce of Power while the other used the complete one to turn into the Demon King. ALTTP Ganon was far from being mindless, he is even the smartest Ganon of all. And he had no shiny double blades.
    - The Sages never intended to Seal Ganon in the Sacred Realm, they were plaining to seal him into the "Evil Realm"(Dark Realm, as the one in Spirits Tracks, the Demon's World) that is located below the Realm of the Dead.
    It was indeed their last hope to prevent Ganon from taking over the World.
    Here is the Translation of ALTTP Manual:
    "However, one day, due completely by accident, the entrance of the sacred place was opened by a band of thieves.
    It says that the group pushed each other, their eye color changing, as they drew nearer (the Triforce).
    When the desperate struggle among the group draw to an end, the group's leader had survived and won.
    His hand dirty with fresh blood, the leader touched the Triforce and the crest's spirit whispered.
    "A person with a wish, I await, make the wish."
    The leader smiled, and the echo of his laugh echoed across time and space and even to the far away land of Hyrule.
    The man's name was Ganondorf, and his common name was Ganon of the race of evil thieves.
    At this time the evil King Ganon, who threatened Hyrule, was born.
    Ganon acquired the Triforce, but no one knows what Ganon wished for.
    Yet, Ganon's evil made it to even Hyrule as it spread. "
    And then, the Imprisoning War started with:
    "People of greed were herded and consumed by this power, and disappeared"
    (Probably about Blind's clan of Thieves.)

      @nonoctoro4933 5 лет назад

      @@MrZangetsu468 Well ... It doesn't, the US translation was bad.
      It really said :
      "The Triforce itself cannot judge between good and evil. That is because only the gods can do that.
      However, it could not be assumed that only a good person would get their hands on the Triforce.
      For that reason, the people of Hyrule were told by the gods to make something that would repulse any evil that may kidnap the Triforce: the blade of evil's bane."
      And then ...
      "The Sages first had to search for the existence of the Master Sword and a hero to use it."
      Hylia was chosen to be the guardian of the Triforce by the Golden Goddesses, but we never knew if she made the Goddess Sword Herself.
      Also, Link had to forge the Master Sword to protect the Triforce and everything else from Demise.

    With the explanation of what happened to the TriForce, (with BOTW in the failed hero timeline) it explains the necessity of the power of the guardians and divine beasts needed to stop him. Nonoctoro As explained in Wind Waker, the TriForce can grant a single wish to whoever possesses it. Ganon didn’t have the TriForce in BOTW because it must have left him after granting his wish for great power, which he got.
      So, Link was the strongest warrior selected to be a champion in BOTW, made into Zelda’s guard, and we don’t see or hear of Link having the TriForce of courage, AT ALL.
      It leaves gaps of how the TriForce transferred to Zelda, unless bathing in holy goddess water gives you the fragments.
      Ganon not having the TriForce could explain why he has been getting weaker and weaker with each resurrection. He had to turn the machines against the Hylians, that sounds like desperation more than a good plan.
