Last I checked, Cabral Station had a stub-ended track, and the San Joaquin had to stop at the grade crossing to load and unload passengers. Then again, that was a DVD made in 2006 that I saw that.
BNSF1995 Yes, the track was extended to create a new station siding back when the new ACE Maintenance/Service Facility was opened in 2014. I believe occasionally the Amtrak San Joaquin will still board passengers at the crossing if an ACE train happens to be at the station at the same time. There are still Amtrak signs present on either side and adjacent to the crossing that signify this.
Tweety Swauger Stockton does have its bad areas and also a not too shiny reputation, but the city is certainly seeing a revitalization. This station is a prime example of that redevelopment. And thank you !
Yep, it was definitely an unexpected but nice surprise especially with it leading ! I feel fortunate to have been able to catch it since a lot of the fallen flags paint schemes have been gradually getting repainted to the standard UP colors the last few years. Not many left out there.
From my personal observation, the Stockton Downtown / ACE Station is much more safe and inviting than I had originally anticipated when I visited. It doesn’t pose that sense of crime as most folks perceive about Stockton. However, note that as soon as you leave the immediate area in just a few blocks, it does become sketchy. The other station, the San Joaquin Street Station, is unfortunately located in a very poverty and crime stricken area compared to the Downtown / ACE Station location.
That particular ACE train was running with extra cars that day, presumably for a school field trip or some event that required more capacity. Because it’s somewhat rare, the train was close enough to the crossing that it actuated the signals and had to back up to clear the crossing while boarding passengers for about 10 minutes.
AmtrakTitan455 Hey Patrick !!! It’s been a while, but it’s nice to hear from you dude ! Nice to hear your buddy is an engineer for ACE ! Life’s been pretty good for me. I’ve been focusing more on railfanning within the last three years lately. My layout got dismantled back in 2014, so my model railroading days are on hold; although I still retain all my locomotives, rolling stock, and buildings. Feel free to hit me up through the RUclips private message. It’d be nice to talk more !
TexasRailfan21 It currently does not. North of Stockton is ACE’s maintenance and equipment storage facility where the equipment deadhead to. There are however plans to extend ACE service north possibly to Sacramento and south to Merced.
@@BrentNguyen46 that would be cool to get that connection if Ace connects to Sacramento Caltrain will extend from San Francisco to Sacramento that would connect all the dots
Not exactly. ACE typically only runs one locomotive with most of their trainsets, but occasionally mechanical issues may warrant them putting an extra locomotive when repairs can not be made in time for the morning commute. The grade is not significantly steep over Altamont Pass. The only other time you would see two locomotives is when there are more than seven passenger cars. These locomotives (F40PH-3C) are only rated to pull and power a maximum of seven passenger cars each.
Parker McCormack ACE trains runs from Stockton to San Jose. The trains deadhead from the maintenance/service facility just to the north of the station as seen in the video.
Great videos. Loved seeing the old C.N.W. Lightning Bolt. My favorite paint job back when they were new. Amazed to see one still around even patched.
zarniwoop42 Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed the video !
The old ace f40ph 3c train locomotives are my favorite train locomotives

DiamondMaster2.0 Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed the video !
Stockton looks like awell taken care of city. The train station is a marvel and the palm trees just add flavor to it all. Nice work and kewl beans!

Yep, it was definitely an unexpected but nice surprise especially with it leading ! I feel fortunate to have been able to catch it since a lot of the fallen flags paint schemes have been gradually getting repainted to the standard UP colors the last few years. Not many left out there.
@@BrentNguyen46 Sad that the only CNW unit left is 6706

I can’t wait until ace gets their SC44 chargers
Why did the 2nd ACE train back up?

Awesome video man!!

Does Altamont Corridor Express have a destination station Beyond Stockton???
