Rail Road Kid Thanks man, I really appreciate the kind comments ! Work has been a factor, but I’m still at it towards my goal of railfanning the entire state. Slowly but surely, haha.
Gregory Ferguson Same here. It was the first train I ever rode into Sacramento on. Definitely some great, everlasting memories. Thanks for the comment !
Parker McCormack To be personally honest, they were rather hard to get used to aesthetically speaking; but as with any railroad, if it gets the job done, then it’s good in my opinion. I’ve been getting used to the appearance as time goes on as well, haha.
NorCalRailfan Yeah man, an old friend of mine that works Merced to Bakersfield mentioned that most of the engineers including himself prefer the F59s or P42DCs any day over the Charger. The handling on the Charger has been notorious for wheel slip, shortened visibility, and other miscellaneous issues. The Charger is essentially a “converted ACS-64“ and was never really specifically designed for mainline diesel service. The result is that the engineers have to deal with the design faults unfortunately.
Crews will sometimes change the electronic message board signs on the locomotives to read things such as “P.O.S.” as well as other more explicit statements.
Ferromex fan 4081 Thanks ! Yep, I’ll definitely look into it for sure ! I’m actually compiling a list of locations viewers have suggested for future railfanning. Yours is noted as well. :)
@@OxnardRailfanner69 Freights are pretty mixed at this station and there’s really not a set schedule. You could try to catch the local freights but there schedules may have changed since I last railfanned here in 2019. But my guess is you could see about 1 freight train every hour to two hours if not during the passenger commuter rush. I subscribed to you as well ! :)
California Railfanner Nice ! I have yet to railfan Cajon Pass, but I’ve driven through there enough times to say that there’s plenty of good action for sure ! Seen some pretty good footage from other railfans of Cajon Pass. If you do go, have a great time !
Glad to see the CDTX F59PHis still alive and kicking since we no longer have them down on the Surfline.
Average_ Joe only Surfline retired them?
@@KingG3244 Amtrak owned the Cascades and Surfliner F59PHIs, they were sold to Metra in 2018 and deliveries to Metra wrapped up in March.
Average_ Joe damn makes me sad I loved those locomotives not a fan of the new sc-44s they look European no style
@@KingG3244 Siemens is a German based company so the ACS-64's and SC-44's resemblance to Siemens' European products isn't surprising.
Average_ Joe yeah I grew up on the f59phis like most did I. The early 2000s it’s kinda sad the next time I visit Fullerton they won’t be there
Now that’s my main station there and in Bakersfield. I go there once a month

What's your thoughts about the sc44's ?

Amtrak fishbowl charges
Amtrak Locomotive Engineers hate them. Lots of people quit over them (especially in SoCal).

Sac valley Amtrak fun railfanning
Good catches. Also can you railfan on the Napa Valley wine train?

How about doing the Pacific northwest Seattle area and Tacoma area thanks for the great videos
Gregory Ferguson It is noted ! And you’re welcome ! Glad to hear you enjoy my videos !

Were they drunk designing the livery of the Amtrak California Charger locos? it doesn't flow with the cars at all and doesn't look good on its own.
I think so w
I was on train 701
I went back to Fresno on train 704
