I love railfanning in Emeryville, especially the California Zephyr. I’m from Vietnam but a big fan of the Zephyr. Keep it up bro, really appreciate the fantastic clips
Nice railfanning video. Emeryville is a good spot. I’ve been there often over the years as friends live in the building just to the south of the station.
Awesome video Brent. I just went up to NorCal on May 4 and 5 and I was at Jack London Square both days. I will post those soon on my channel. Keep up the awesome work friend!
Do you mean cdtx cab car 6963's bell ??? If anything I agree it does sound a little off... like it make need a little more air into that mechanical bell
Parker McCormack I believe Superbaddy4 was referring to 53:27 and #6961’s bell. It was definitely skipping a lot, as you mentioned regarding the lack of sufficient air pressure.
Superbaddy4 Yes indeed. It only takes a little maintenance to keep the mechanical bells functioning properly, but most rail agencies usually seek to replace the mechanical ones with E-bells rather than to maintain them.
That's a really nice commuter/regional train station. I wish we had stations like this for intermediate stops on the Amtrak Cascades line between Eugene and Vancouver BC.
Rail Road Kid Thank you for the kind comments ! I wouldn’t say I’m the best; if anything, I’m far from it compared to many others out there. In my personal opinion, any railfanning video is a video worth watching regardless of quality or who filmed it. Part of the fun is just going out there and seeing what will come by and the people you’ll meet. I just try to provide my viewers with some decent content of California’s trains, haha. :)
I wonder, is it policy to switch off ditch lights on the locomotives of the long distance trains while stopped at stations? Or do some engineers just prefer to do that?
Typically, when a train is stopped for an extended period of time or if the train is in a siding waiting for another train to pass, it is typical per FRA’s requirements to dim the headlights (which includes the ditch lights turning off). This requirement can also be seen when trains are passing each other at speed on mainline tracks as to not create unwanted glare from the headlights and ditch lights towards approaching trains and their crew, or also to the surrounding areas and individuals in proximity to the tracks.
D64TV Thanks for the comment ! I’m still currently in Northern California at the moment, but I’m hoping to do some railfanning sometime in July and August between Chatsworth and Los Angeles along Metrolink’s Ventura County Line.
Thank you ! Yep, BNSF runs a few trains to and from the Port of Oakland via trackage rights with UP. I actually saw a BNSF baretable train pass through here right as I was leaving after railfanning here.
PsychoAmtrakFan The California Zephyr has historically terminated in Oakland (at the Oakland Central Station) in the past, although the equipment deadhead proved unfavorable from the new Jack London Square station versus direct moves from Emeryville. It would however be pretty nice to see an additional long distance train besides the Coast Starlight through Oakland JLS !

Thank you ! I’m glad to hear you enjoy the videos ! I myself am looking to go back and visit Vietnam someday. :)

Great video! I was railfanning Emeryville. But on July 25 2019
Caltrain 907 Thanks ! I also checked out your Emeryville video. Good stuff !
At 13:24 where you on the tracks nevermind I love the angle it looks like your on the tracks but your not because it is to dangerous
No worries, it’s all good. And thank you !
Awesome Video:) Looks like you caught almost every train that came through Emeryville on that day.
Copper Cruz Thank you !
;)
What time did you get there?
6961's bell is drunk, and the great P5 Legend appears to be trying to impersonate Mater and be the world's best backwards driver...

Yes, I was referring to that.
Isn't it because of instances like that that 8301, 8307, 8309, 8310, 8312, and 8314 ended up receiving E-Bells?
Superbaddy4 Yes indeed. It only takes a little maintenance to keep the mechanical bells functioning properly, but most rail agencies usually seek to replace the mechanical ones with E-bells rather than to maintain them.
I myself actually like the E-Bell way more than the EMD Steel Bell. I wish Amtrak California would just E-Bell all their Cab Cars.

Excellent catch Brent
Western California Railfan Video Thank you !

Hey Brent, when are you gonna start railfaning southern California's metrolink again?
D64TV Thanks for the comment ! I’m still currently in Northern California at the moment, but I’m hoping to do some railfanning sometime in July and August between Chatsworth and Los Angeles along Metrolink’s Ventura County Line.
This was on my birthday
Brady lmao my birthday is right after yours on the 22nd
I love Emeryville. That’s where Pixar Animation Studios is.
That's where the schvoo crime is!!
Nice video. doesn't BNSF run through here as well?
Thank you ! Yep, BNSF runs a few trains to and from the Port of Oakland via trackage rights with UP. I actually saw a BNSF baretable train pass through here right as I was leaving after railfanning here.
I'm gonna be home here, I really think that the California Zephyr should go to terminate in Oakland, rather than Emeryville.
