You always do great work, Brent. Thanks! In New Mexico, we're looking forward to 2921's sister 2926 finishing it's restoration and going back into service soon.
Nice old steam train, last steam train I rode was a logging train at Cass Railway in WV. It was a Shay engine that is quite similar to the cog rail steam train near me here in NH. Great video, nice place this Modesto...kewl beans!
Modesto Station is popular with railfans especially since the quiet zone and wayside horns went in at Escalon. However it is unfortunate that you were not able to drive over to the Union Pacific Fresno Subdivision on the other side of town for 30 minutes to film Amtrak Coast Starlight #11 that was detouring via the Central Valley and Tehachapi that day.
Nice I’ve seen it before when I took the San Joaquin Train From Antioch To Madera When We Stopped At Modesto After Stockton I Was Like What Tha Is That A Santa Fe’s Steam Locomotive Dude Thats Dope
butthurt8 Thanks ! I wouldn’t say arguing per se, but rather them being more than “friendly.” It’s always interesting seeing the assortment of people’s behaviors prior to the train’s arrival/departure, haha.
Comet cars on full California zephyr train in roseville the other day uprr 89 was on a stack to salt lake city Utah from Lathrop California it was in tehachapi
It honestly varies throughout any given day. Generally, freights are more predictable by the day of the week rather than the time of the day. Freight activity usually picks up as you progress through the work week; with Mondays typically being the slowest based on my personal observations throughout the years. This is mainly due to inbound trains arriving to its destination by the end of the previous work week / weekend, but outbound trains have yet to receive shipments from customers to be put together at the start of the work week on Mondays. However, with the recent “Precision Scheduled Railroading / PSR”, it has only made predicting freights all the more difficult. Hope this helps ! And thank you Steve !
RailRoamer ATSF #2921 was originally on display at a park in Modesto, but due to gas line concerns on behalf of PG&E, they funded to move #2921 to the Modesto Amtrak Station to be put on display there. Since its arrival, it has been repainted and had surrounding landscaping done, although not completely finished at the time I was there. ATSF #3751 is a similar 4-8-4 locomotive that is operational in Southern California, however it is not the same locomotive.
2003 sounds like 2010 still it has a different horn on 2003 right now.
the horn difference happened 1 year ago so it sounds like 2014.
One of my favorite places to Railfan!
The p42dc genesis Locomotive has an e bell!
Most of them have an e-bell
Some Of Them Has A Mechanical Bell
The cab car on 715 (8304) has a great horn I was riding it from Sacramento to Fresno on train 704

Yard Limit Thank you ! Always happy to hear that ! It should be very interesting to see ATSF #2926 operating again. Certainly looking forward to it.

What's the busiest hour for freights? Anyway sweet catches

Rhett Ross Thanks !
AmCal has the most underated stations. Why is there a 4-8-4 sitting there? Do you know if that is 3751 or another unit? Amcal is weird man.
Not the 3751. It lives in San Bernadino(sp?) when not running railfan trips. It was restored by the SBHS.

3751 is not based in San Bernadino. It is based in Los Angeles at Amtrak's Redondo facility, securely stored with a baggage car.
Correct, the classes of locomotives are quite different, a very obvious difference being the tender trucks.
Latios Gaming 3751 is stored with 90208 I believe.
Is that f40ph at 6:11 de engined?
Chris Coleman Yep. It is now classified as a Non-Powered Control Unit (NPCU).
Nice video.
Nicola636128 Thanks !
Modesto is golden
