Agreed Zeus is Petty and also a redundant case here because in Season 15 Sam & Dean wanted Jack to kill chuck in a similar fashion how Prometheus killed Zeus
Sam explained that gods were once invincible and basically almost all-powerful, but when people stopped worshiping, believing, and sacrificing to them they became severely weakened and not even a fraction of what they once were
@alltheworldsastage4785 In the modern era, they are as strong as a weakened archangel since Loki and his children captured, beat up, and injured Gabriel without much effort
You mean first or second time? Because second time, Gabriel wasn't really Archangel level, he was barely angel level, closer to human. And first time, they probably used carefully prepared magic to capture him. Magic is quite OP in Supernatural. Five witches were able to force Amara, the God's sister, to her knees. Only for moment, but still impressive in direct confrontation of strength. So with enough knowledge, experience and skills, using opportunity to capture him shouldn't be so big deal.
Would have been kinda cool if Chuck lost his powers after wiping out the last humans across the multiverse who believed in him and realized he was also just another story.
I kinda liked one where I read that chuck isn't really god but the physical manifestation of the light as his sister Amara is the physical manifestation of the darkness. And that while he is powerful all his creation was achieved with an unseen hidden hand of God.
I feel that Chuck was taken over by Amara who felt slighted once again because Dean, who she was in love with, betrayed her. So what better way to get revenge than to convince the world that God hates them while punishing Chuck for his original crime against her. I see Jack saying that Amara was at peace as a cop out because Amara got her revenge and Chuck was destroyed which allows her to assume Chuck's place through Jack.
@Hannari-xt6nr it's not like they're real or anything so a slight inaccuracy isn't that big a deal. I'm more annoyed at how they depicted God but I also realize it's just a fictional tv show and God isn't really like how they depicted.
@Hannari-xt6nr Jesus has been around longer than 2000 years. The quote unquote "gods" you mentioned are just demons. They aren't real and neither are their stories. The people who worshiped them were deceived.
This has nothing to do with the gods but when you mentioned Mjonir's appearance it immediately reminded me of the episode when Dean walked into the bunker with "Lucille", Negan's bat from the walking dead while saying, "Dad really wuda loved this thing" before setting it down. His father John of course being the same actor that plays Negan
34:50 This was some what of a reunion for Paris Hilton and Jared Padalecki, since they both worked together back in 2005 on the movie House of Wax! The whole episode was an homage to that movie, so it was nice that both actors reunited in this kind of setting.
Agreed completely. The show could've made recurring characters/antagonists out of a good number of them On a related note I feel like team free will wasn't what it should've been by the end of the show either
I wondered why Fortuna knew her origin when other gods did not. I then interpreted this to mean that the very first gods were created by the big G and then they created themselves like family trees, since in all mythology there is such a thing that the gods have children and that gods are replaced by a new generation.
@@godofdesire.luck.war.night5 technology seems far removed from the idea of worship, people wish for good fortune and money and they attempt to manifest these things but they don't worship technology they simply understand it and use it as a tool
I think that the more ingrained the myths were, the stronger their influence were on said deity. Fortuna was the goddess of both good and back fortune aka lady luck. Whereas most gods were seen as either to be worshipped or feared, she was a little of both. This may have meant that humans' beliefs did not affect her as much as the other gods that showed up.
Also Fortuna was most powerfull among Them all i think, She is basicaly Goddes of gamblers, In my country We have Big Corporation Named Fortuna and Guess what They do? Scratching tickets, sports betting and all that. And that is only tiny country where i Live.
Supernatural's Pagan Gods were very interesting but ultimately underwhelming i mean at hammer of the Gods a bunch of the head of Parthenons couldn't even put up a fight with an archangel
Well in the supernatural universe, archangels were basically one step down below God all while the Pagan gods were, as the video says, basically glorified Tulpas. Humans created the pagan gods because they were unaware of Big G God and then God decided "hey look a scapegoat for all the things that go wrong" and made them real; obviously, he made them weaker than himself, I'm assuming to avoid having someone like Kali walk up and fry him like a turkey - Kali was actually one of the more powerful ones - she was able to choke and almost kill Mercury - and even she did absolutely jack all against Lucifer. I do agree that they were underwhelming and they could have been put to much better use.
I remember the controversy around this from back in the day. Some people felt uncomfortable with the depiction of Hindu gods due to the fact that many still practice the faith today.
I think if supernatural was made today they would have had the Visual effects to do them justice. Especially since they are among the few gods currently worshiped
@@fgostoryteller2168 I'm genuinely interested... Can you explain the difference? I get that they have the concept of dharma, and as far as I understand the gods can be seen as manifestation of the one universal "spirit" or soul or divine consciousness, but why would that make them not pagan? Taking ("pagan" to mean "polytheistic".)
Mercury is also the god of travelers, which is why the old logo for the Mercury car company is the god Mercury and why the Jay Garrick Flash wears the wing cap. That's why he moved fast in Supernatural.
The deities were so interesting, underused and a little confusing for sure but still super interesting Also I have my own ideas for how Demigods function, they inherit certain or a handful of their deity powers including longevity and not immortality, this would mean they are not everlasting but they age SUPER slowly that it seems like immortality
I don't think the pagans were as weak as they seem. They're more there to show just how powerful angels are. They easily trapped sam and dean who in reality are some of the most powerful beings on the show
In Supernatural the human soul has the power to create, just like God. While this is usually intended as the power of imagination, the ability to create stories, art and so on, but technically even Angels can do that (and they shouldn't). Maybe each human soul as a limited power of reality warping. This would explain the Tulpas and could aslo help us better understand the all "God and gods" thing.
It was never said that the human soul could create 🤷♂️ (although it was a source of power) as far as we know only god and jack can “create” if just any human soul could create then the angels wouldn’t have needed jack to create more angels, they could have just used any old human soul to create them. Even Amarrah couldn’t create
Well, there are psychic and similar people, who simply have abilities without deal with devil or studying magic. That one old man was literally able to change laws of physics and reality around him(not remember how big it was, but quite lot, different buildings and streets at least) and make everything follow laws of cartoons. That is quite impressive.
@@parkeydee Actually, we see human creating something, with the Tulpa: by using a symbol (which has the power to gather and focus human thoughts) it is possible to create an entity more powerful than a ghost, maybe even more powerful with enough believers and time. That is actually very similar to the process of gods-creation in Gaiman books. -Amara couldn't create because it is the exact opposite of her nature, she is the embodiment of the force that redeuce everything to nothingness. God specifically said that he created huamns because he wanted to give life to being able to create themself. -We have seen psychic who can use severale powers, a human souls without a body (ghost) will eventually develop powers, it is also possible to use enochian magic to exploit the soul's power while still in the body.
@@parkeydee angels are children like to God, that´s why only God creates them, they can´t reproduce between each other neither, but they can procreate with humans creating nephilims, also Heaven fuels from angels power, it doesn´t make sense that other type of deities wants to create angels. But other beings, even humans, could certainly "create, being souls a resourceful source of power for those who can manipulate it, unknowingly or purposefully. Like Eve being able of creating monsters.
Dude, I've been waiting for you to do this very video. I just came across the channel recently, and as i was rewatching supernatural, and i thought, i bet he'll do a video on pagan gods. Something i would love to see you do on the channel is do a deep dive on either John Winchesters journal or the history of the men of letters. Keep it up ive been loving every bit of it.
To be fair supernatural is a part of the DC universe. Its writing was influenced by Neil Gaimon one if not the most famous DC writers for his depictions of religion and other mythology/philosophical concepts that are explored in his run. Neil Gaimon wrote Divinity like The Presence and the Archangelsas above all their cosmology is beyond even the the very constructs of creation like the Endless. Even when tied back to the Canon Source Material The presence is Spirit and the origin of creation his archangels Micheal and Lucifer are the 2 strongest beings after him. Honestly, it's the most realistic strength feat in the series I was more upset I loved the way they depicted the personalities and mannerisms of the Gods and I wish the writing team had taken more inspiration from the characters from American Gods
I mean they eat human to gain power and survive, at that point they just on the same level as Warewolf and Vampire and every other monster. They are mostly fake, not fake god but more like pagan gods aren't real in that verse. I mean for Angels human is just a fragile and insignificant being that they can just wipe easily. While the pagans need the human to survive, when human dies so does pagan gods.
Because they are to him. Lucifer was next to capital G God the pagans are all lower case gods. In reality and in the supernatural universe pagan gods are weak. Saint bone face was 130lb when he chopped down Odin's tree. All the pagans converted to Christianity. The only "pagans" now are weirdo look at me perverts running naked threw the woods
God made the pagan gods real.. of course he wouldn't make them even nearly as strong as *checks notes* his literal first creation, the Archangels, who are the strongest beings in the multiverse second only to God and Amara
If the pagan gods were imagined by man, then created by god, they came after the angels. Then it would make sense that they wouldn't be as strong. In my opinion.
Just wanna say your editing, script, and voice are amazing. I love these deepdives into the lore of the show and your explanations in these videos are amazing. If you ever wish to go to other shows I will definately watch it.
The reason why Prometheus's son stops talking is quite obvious. The son has been dying daily since the age of seven, in real world psychology children have been known to become mute from tragic events, such as the death of a relative, or physical trama. So dying and coming back to live just once at such a young age could lead to a child becoming mute, dying daily is for sure the reason why he doesn't speak.
Or he constantly resets so he never even learned how to speak because his father could also only remember waking up on the mountain so his kid only remembers what he learned his first day as a baby
@@basedbane787 If he only remember what he learned the first day he was a baby, he wouldn't know how to swallow(which is a learned skill), walk, and sure he wouldn't be able to speak, but that would also mean that he wouldn't be able to understand any language, which he clearly does. So no, you're "idea" is half-baked at best, and easily refutable.
I like the theory that Gabriel used a trickster as a vessel instead of a human. Which also explains why his powers are the same as a trickster just waaaaaaaay more powerful
My goodness, I was actually waiting for this video! Just lastnight I was saying to myself that I wish there was a video explaining gods of Supernatural on a deeper level. Edit: The Deities are among my favourite of all the Supernatural creatures, if I had to be a Supernatural entity within the world of Supernatural, I'd be a super powerful deity or an Archangel.
Baron samedi is from haitian voodoo or vodou ...he is the husband of Maman Brigitte. Together, they are the guardians of the past, of history, and of heritage. leader of the guardian spirits known as the Loa or Lwa ... and he is the Loa of Death and Fertility.... his feast or holiday aligns with the day of the dead around November 2nd... as a 'death diety' his prescence in the hammer the gods is VERY fitting for his nature to say at least
@@alltheworldsastage4785 Yep! There's a scene in Episode 14 ''Last Holiday'' where Sam is seen holding the hammer while Dean is holding his grenade launcher :D
I have a theory, what if these gods/deities are just angels that were cast down to earth along with Lucifer, when he rebel against heaven? But since they were cut off from heaven they had to sustain themselves by consuming human flesh or souls (like cronus). These would explain why they can affect things like luck, weather and crops, since they understand the inner workings of the universe? To reply to some of comments, yes there is in universe explanation but the answer seems to be an ass pull. That would explain to why Castiel and Lucifer never mentioned it because the writers haven't decided the answer for those gods yet. What do you think?
If that was true, then it would've most likely been referenced by Castiel at least in some point but he never hinted that deities were angels nor did any other angels. Hell, Lucifer's rant in Hammer of the Gods disproves this.
Bro false he literally just said in the video that God made those gods ,just so they can take the blame of shit for him not to be in trouble or have accountability
What if they are all just nephilem and after the flood god erased everyone’s memories even the angels and since he needed humans to throw the bad on to something he allowed them to live, that would explain why kali would think she’s as old as god as this way when she wakes the world is just mainly water and as it goes away she thinks she had a hand in it Yk?
Interesting theory and your not the first to come up with it. Some theologians actually believe that this is true. Also that all the differrent gods are the same angels just taking on the different names
My own fanmade take on the origin of the gods, before it was explained in the show, is that after creating Eve and she letting her children lose on the world Chuck noticed that the monsters were getting a bit out of hand so just like he created Eve he created a male counterpart, the Demiurge, to start creating super powered beings, the gods, that would keep the monsters in check. This would work for Chuck since now he doesn't have to waste time on the matter and if something bad happens the blame can be shifted to either the Demiurge or the pagan gods wich will further help him since people would abandon worship of them and turn to him thus busting he's already massive ego. Of course he had to make sure that the Demiurge wasn't as powerful as him in the creation business so he limited he's powers to only able to create gods by using the collective will and desires of whole cultures, humans imagine them a he brings them to life with a few touches of his own. And you could say he was more powerful than most angels but not strong enough against the archangels. And just like Eve he would not but in in human affairs and doesn't mind it when humans like the Winchesters take it's creations out. He infact has gone native and lives the high life either as a tuler of aome country or leader of a eorldwide famous corporation or something.
My God, that would have been perfect! The explanation for the deities is overshadowed by the fact it would have been a perfect adaptation of the Demiurge. Heck since this didn’t happen, my head-canon is that the Demiurge is in charge of some big name Movie Studio, God/chuck writes the story and the Demiurge brings it to life(Movie) and make lessor copies(sequels)
Supernatural was a good show. I wish they’d have done more with the pagan gods. The Norse gods deserved better. All gods that are not of the top 3 religions are Pagan. It’s the literal definition of Pagan.
What do you mean by top 3? Judaism isn't even in the top 5 most worshipped religions, lol. Even Buddhism comes above Judaism. You probably mean top 3 western religions.
Loki is also a Jotun, a Frost Giant. For all we know, Jotun is what the Norse gods called in the angels in the SPN universe, which would make Heaven Jotunheim.
Thank you for this video dedicated to these largely overlooked beings within the SPN multi/universe. Mythology across the globe has always fascinated me since I was a child, and has shaped many of my spiritual beliefs. I love seeing how they are displayed in novels and television series. It is interesting that here, we encounter the pagan gods long after their powers have been nerfed and they have shackes up as locals among the humans they once literally looked down upon. In many episodes, it was largely disappointing to see them in this sorry state, but I assume this was the point. I also love how they retain their petty and vindictive attitudes! Great video! 😎 As a side note, Moloch was definitely more dark and demonic compared to the rest of them that were displayed. When reading about his ancient history, and the image of Moloch that waa constructed in his honor, those are the exact vibes I feel from it. Something alien or foreign to this world; dark and unknowable.
Fun fact: a being, force, or principality created through belief is called an "Egregore" in real world mythologies. They are sustained through worship and belief and cease to exist when belief isn't given. It's actually incredibly interesting when you get into the concept of it😂 Also, I love that they used the Marvel Mjolnir silhouette😂😂😂 Also, who else absolutely gasped when we found out that not only do Sam and Dean have fans, but some of their fans ship them😅😅😅😅
Clearly you aren't familiar with Norse mythology. Fenrir was a giant wolf born from Loki and the Jotunn ,Angrboda, the giantess. Sleipnir was an 8-legged horse that Loki gave birth to after shapeshifting into a female horse to make with Svadilfari, a stallion owned by another Jotunn. It became Odin's steed and was described as the best of all horses which he would sometimes ride to Hel). He also birthed Narfi (Nari), Vali, Hel, and the ouroboros Jormungandr.
I don't think enough people realize that the end of the series was all written by Chuck. Chuck didn't lose, he wrote the events of Jack becoming the new God and he becoming a mortal.
He did not Became Mortal. What we saw Is Only chuck, his Avatar/manifestation in flesh. God as an author exists outside of narrative. So my interpretation of the ending is That God gave jack "admin" rights over the Multiverse and Went to start from scratch on some different project.
Never seen supernatural but a story I’ve been thinking of writing had the idea that “GODS” are created by the collective conscious and belief of humans who believe in them. Very interesting idea
Based on Artemis' grecian mythology, shes a vestal virgin, the last so called "lover" she had was Orion the hunter. Her twin brother Apollo grew jealous and feared his sister would break her vow of chasity so he set up Orion to be killed.
For some reason outta all the gods that didn't have enough screen time. Baron Samedi deserved better. I feel like he could had his own episode and if done right it could have been a classic.
You love the book about Bobby. I forget what it's called but it should be the first to pop up. In it they tell all about Bobby's origins and part of it is fighting this African trickster god
33:04 Those two are Mr and Mrs. Santa Claus. This is referenced by Mr. Claus wearing a blood red suit to grab their victims, and stuff them into a large sack (like presents). 34:58 This was done as a reference to some of Jared Padalecki's previous work in the movie House of Wax from 2005, which also starred Paris Hilton.
It seems like present-day Hunters developed a hatred of all things supernatural. This probably included Artemis. It took a long time for Sam & Dean (mostly Dean) to be able to see any non-human creature as anything but something that needed to be exterminated, even the ones that were just trying to live their lives as minimally invasive to humanity as possible. It would be interesting to see what might have caused the Hunters to take that extreme approach, I'm guessing some sort of betrayal may have happened between Hunters and some allied non-human force.
I was sad Odin died, I was mad Sam didn’t keep the hammer and I’m pissed Fenrir wasn’t a massive, hulking werewolf strong enough to launch cars, since, you know, he’s a giant wolf in myth 🤣
6:24 Unlikely since there are things that happen in SPN lore on the abrahamic side of the woods without jewish/christian basis, like the leviathans as the first beast, the role of purgatory as the afterlife of monsters rather than a middleground for human souls and Amara as a whole, but the overall worldbuilding of SPN is flexible enough to make it possible,
Wish they did something with Jesse. They kinda set him up as a big chess piece in Lucifers plans the titular antichrist and then basically replaced him with Jack.
One of the biggest plot points that created dean that nobody talks about is the Osiris episode when the human meg says "you're supposed to help people dean why didn't you help me?"
I wept when American Gods didn't get renewed for more seasons. After Ian McShane's glorious stint playing a saloon owner in "Deadwood," suddenly he was in everything. While incredibly talented, this doesn't mean he's right for all roles and if the story is weak, no actor can save it. In any event, they finally found a new vehicle for him in the form of American Gods where he was again glorious. There were quite a few other stand-outs including Pablo Schreiber, Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Crispin Glover, Orlando Jones, and others. There was even red-hot s__ scenes, both het and gay. Just remarkable all around.
Honestly, I feel disappointed by how they handled the gods. It might be a bit of a hot take but I think it would've been cool if Chuck was the same as the rest of them, being just another god whom makes claims that he made and rules over humanity and the reason why his beliefs have more power and credence would be a result of him having more living followers, with the true powers that made the multiverse remaining a mystery even at the end of the events of supernatural. Maybe even a brief one line voice from a mysterious entity to jack whom took the powers of 2 incredibly strong beings bringing some wisdom to his power but taking no questions
No mention of the lamp shading of the Leshi Episode, where the monster is hiding out in a Wax Museum, with both Paris and Jared. Both of whom, stared in the Slasher horror, House of Wax. Fun little nod.
Most pagan religions were monist, which means they recognized the existence of a singular creator God, but only worshipped or interacted with manifestations of it in forms the human mind could comprehend. There is no issue with the existence of Chuck alongside lesser deities.
I still love the fact that baltazhar, out of sheer pettieness, prevented the the Titanic from sinking still one of my favourite reacurring characters in the show.
I always thought the reason the gods where eating people was because they were not getting worshiped any more and that was how they survived. Case in point Zeus is still pretty popular in modern times from movies and at that time Norse gods didnt get the Marivel treatment, so he actually still had some power.
Re: Prometheus. He made have been created by Chuck with his lore intact. As in he never actually gave fire to humans, but Zeus believes he did because it’s the lore he was created with. I wonder why Vesta didn’t just found a nunnery.
Imagine the whole creator of everything that has ever been, including multiple alternate realities, cant find a way to put someone down. I'd switch to the Egyptian pantheon if i knew that bit of info in the Supernatural universe
Anything not described in Christianity and pagan. They considered the worship of nature as paganism ... And kaki as an embodiment of nature itself is the perfect pagan god example in the series. This is how the show disrespects all religions subtly and most modern guys/gals don't bother understanding this.
The way I imagine it is that gods get power based on how many people follow their religion but that power is divided among their pantheon… so a pantheon like Hinduism would which has at least 33 gods would be weaker then the abrahamic god which is the lone god of 3 different religions (Christianity, Islam, & Judaism) and because Christianity is the most popular of the three it’s the one that’s “in charge” of the universe at the time the series takes place
So the hindu gods would have the power of 36 million people each (and might be weakened by the Buddhist beliefs making them mortal) whereas the abrahamic god and by extension Lucifer would have the power of half of all humans (~4 billion)
In the first season, after they fight the Tulpa, Sam says "I wonder how many of the things we fight only existed because people believed in them" and I used that line as my excuse to head-cannon the existence of all the non-Chuck gods.
Somebody shoulda given the writers American Gods so they could understand why Odin and the Pagan Gods couldve been really interesting and threatening villains despite being in decline. But that book is also the only one Ive read that understands Odin mythologically. Bro is straight up devious and diabolical in that book.
6:23 an interesting angle that could have been would have been how The Sandman handled it, with, while capital G God is the real creator, but even he was shaped through the belief of humans, in this case through Dream of the Endless, despite God being above the Endless. Or kinda, the Endless are seemingly not God's creations, but a byproduct of there being things that exist. Death was apparently waiting before the first living thing came to be, but is also the daughter of Time and Night. but theyre basically not on the same cosmic hierarchy
Vesta's deal is tied directly to her old Roman worship. He temples were attended by Vestal Virgins, and if any of them broke their oath to her they'd be buried alive as a sacrifice. He plan in the show is to gather sacrifices by forming the chastity groups that she knows will have at least a few members who'll break their vow, unknowingly offering themselves to her as tribute.
being imaginative beings brought forth by god sounds cool, but the whole time I myself, imagined the Pagan gods being fallen angels, having lost their grace, and creating their own beliefs to consume humans, first as a middle finger to god, by eating his prized creation, and second by regaining the grace lost by consuming the creations of god, in hopes of being forgiven to be able to return to heaven.
Also still mad at how dirty they did my girl Artemis. Never bringing her up again was one thing, but having her FALL IN LOVE WITH A DUDE… too far 😔 no but genuinely having her prime motive for turning on Zeus being love just makes it seem like they did no research into her actual mythology at all.
I wish the show explained where the pagan gods go when they die. We know where humans, monsters, angels, and demons go when they die, but where do the pagan gods go?
My guess is they also go to the empty like demons and angels do, I doubt they are able to go to heaven or hell since they don’t technically have souls. But if they are more monster than god, it’s possible they go to purgatory.
Personally I think what would better if is they had their own realm like a Divine Realm and all the gods go there and that basically their souls are like super nukes and had special place to lock them away because if someone got their hands on that it would make them so unbelievably powerful and could risk the destruction of creation itself.
I absolutely hate how they where treated we could have had an entire season about The Battle Of The Gods but nope the writer had to go more in favor of Christianity 🙄
If you read the Bible, even the New Testament, they acknowledge there are other gods. They are referred to as Lesser Spiritual Beings, and we're not supposed to put them above God. They acknowledge that they powers on earth, but won't hqve any power when God's creation is redeemed.
Yes this is the perfect example of a faith based god ... Don't worship others only worship me ... Voz i need that faith for empowerment. A real god does not need measly faith for empowerment but then again in the show humans can kill gods in their heyday.
God-begotten monster with the Loki's kids, I think they're hybrids of monsters and deities. Fenrir would b half werewolf. Artemis fanbased whithered in Supernatural, probably bc she's suppose to b a virgin forever. Looks like she was saving herself for the right guy, but he lost his memories and died.
Calliope came not for the girl who wrote the play, but for Chuck, essentially the main author of the stories, this is revealed at the end of the episode.
Tbh I just thought of this when you brought up the in-universe Supernatural books from Chuck... Do the other hunters not know about the book series? Maybe chuck being a "prophet" who became a writer might have been common knowledge? Otherwise, I would have to think the other hunters would HAVE to find that odd that some random writer somehow knew about everything with them and whatnot
There is nothing confusing about it tho…Chuck and Amara (and Void/Empty ) are the primordial universal forces of the universe, Light , Darkness and the absence of both. Light is the creator, writter , shaper of the universe, Darkness used to be the co-creator , and erases and reshapes , she was the editor basically, but Charles got a huge head and trapped her , which imbalanced the universe and created demonic and monster energy as a response to Chuck.s none sense ! It is implied that Chuck and Amara are only vessels of the stuff and although a majority of 5he stuff consciousness is shaped by Amara and Chuck , Light and Darkness do have pure form with their own will that can be deleyed by their avatars but not for to long , their are going to go back to their natural state universal existence , keeping the balance no matter if their avatars like it or not . Basically is the Force and her Avatars 😂. The empty’s main manifestation on the physical realm is Death , unavoidable. Those three forces exist outside of human’s consciousness and are not controlled by it. The pegan gods are all egergores , created by collective human beliefs. Basically, the primordials exist thus universe exist, angels , demons ,monsters and humans are an extension of Darkness and Light’s consciousness and pegan gods are an extension of human consciousness. The think being that humans although wick in terms manifesting universal energy are a perfect combination of light and darkness consciousness. Angels got grace which is the ability to manifest light in veritable forms. Demons have their demonic powers which is a direct consequence of darkness being trapped and only being able of corrupting souls instead of just doing her editing job like she should ! Whatever superpowers monsters have is also a result of the universal imbalance caused by Chuck’s big ass demiurge ego ! Humans do not have the ability to manipulate light, darkness without serious consequences, they can be manipulated by and shaped by it tho , humans don’t have monster powers either, as soon as they become monsters they lose a part of their human consciousness. The power of humans , is their mind , their conciousness , their creativity, they are the only beings other than Chuck capable of speaking shit into existence , with their minds, Pegan gods are the apex of that power of creation. The other human power is that they are capable of both darkness and light, are always in between and capable to choose between both but mostly staying in between…ans since existence is found in the sweet spot in between light and darkness…humans are the master of existence, which includes being able to create gods and entities with their minds, I mean it is not a coincidence that Light’s new chosen vessel had to be the child of The child of Light most corrupted by Darkness (Lucifer) and a Human …Jack is basically the amalgamation of everything at every level of existence, he is an angel , a demon , a monster and a human…
I still don’t understand how the Archangel blades were so few and far between when they were all alive for a good portion of the show. And Gabe’s was an “archangel blade” but clearly wasnt. Just early writing when it was still supposed to end at season 5 lol
"This version of Zeus was divinely petty....?" that's just how Zeus is. 🤣
thats literally just Zeus, the guy is just petty like that in all stories he's in😭
Zeus the God of Pettiness lmao
When he said that I was like, dude, that's exactly what Zeus is. He's the king of pettiness.
What? When was Zeus ever petty? A man-whore, sure, but petty? Ima need some references lol
Agreed Zeus is Petty and also a redundant case here because in Season 15 Sam & Dean wanted Jack to kill chuck in a similar fashion how Prometheus killed Zeus
Sam explained that gods were once invincible and basically almost all-powerful, but when people stopped worshiping, believing, and sacrificing to them they became severely weakened and not even a fraction of what they once were
I mean, many of them are still quite strong today, not nearly as powerful as they once were, but they are still quite formidable.
True, but by that logic the Hindu gods should be infinitely more powerful than all the other old gods.
@@oliviadoyle3623 Well, Kali was actually shown to be the strongest of the gods in the room, but yeah, she should have been much stronger.
Would have been kinda cool if Chuck lost his powers after wiping out the last humans across the multiverse who believed in him and realized he was also just another story.
Then they could've did a season 16 about how his sis is the real god and she was locked up to save the multiverse

American Gods - both the book and the TV show - amazing. Visually spectacular, and the depiction of the gods was beautiful.
I wondered why Fortuna knew her origin when other gods did not. I then interpreted this to mean that the very first gods were created by the big G and then they created themselves like family trees, since in all mythology there is such a thing that the gods have children and that gods are replaced by a new generation.

I think that the more ingrained the myths were, the stronger their influence were on said deity. Fortuna was the goddess of both good and back fortune aka lady luck.
The portrayal of the pagan Gods in the show was abysmal, making them eat humans was ridiculous
In DC, Lucifer wipes out every other god like Zeus and others effortless, so it's not far fetched.

Mercury is also the god of travelers, which is why the old logo for the Mercury car company is the god Mercury and why the Jay Garrick Flash wears the wing cap. That's why he moved fast in Supernatural.
The deities were so interesting, underused and a little confusing for sure but still super interesting
Also I have my own ideas for how Demigods function, they inherit certain or a handful of their deity powers including longevity and not immortality, this would mean they are not everlasting but they age SUPER slowly that it seems like immortality
Writing stories is not physical creation. It’s very different
I hated the way they handled pagan gods, Lucifer just walked through them like they were infants
Honestly, it's the most realistic strength feat in the series
I was more upset I loved the way they depicted the personalities and mannerisms of the Gods and I wish the writing team had taken more inspiration from the characters from American Gods
That's what I love about this show both our ideas are equally plausible
@@basedbane787 If he only remember what he learned the first day he was a baby, he wouldn't know how to swallow(which is a learned skill), walk, and sure he wouldn't be able to speak, but that would also mean that he wouldn't be able to understand any language, which he clearly does. So no, you're "idea" is half-baked at best, and easily refutable.

That would explain when they dies, their face would lit up like an angel smiting something or getting stab by angel blade.
I actually liked that they had Odin and Balder in season 5, along with Gabriel posing as Loki. It was a nice blend of the Apocalypse and Ragnarok.

As a side note, Moloch was definitely more dark and demonic compared to the rest of them that were displayed.
It's actually incredibly interesting when you get into the concept of it😂
Also, I love that they used the Marvel Mjolnir silhouette😂😂😂
Also, who else absolutely gasped when we found out that not only do Sam and Dean have fans, but some of their fans ship them😅😅😅😅
Clearly you aren't familiar with Norse mythology.

The hindu Gods especially kali should have me much more powerful. If power comes from worship. Shes got millions
Also, she is not pagan and a version of Shiva.
Anything not described in Christianity and pagan. They considered the worship of nature as paganism ... And kaki as an embodiment of nature itself is the perfect pagan god example in the series. This is how the show disrespects all religions subtly and most modern guys/gals don't bother understanding this.
@@picnic1123 religions should all be put into their places.
Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" fantasy novels explored the same concepts as "American Gods" almost 20 years prior.

Makes sense. I was literally thinking “If all she needs are female virgins, why doesn’t she just set up shop in a Nunnery?” 😂

being imaginative beings brought forth by god sounds cool, but the whole time I myself, imagined the Pagan gods being fallen angels, having lost their grace, and creating their own beliefs to consume humans, first as a middle finger to god, by eating his prized creation, and second by regaining the grace lost by consuming the creations of god, in hopes of being forgiven to be able to return to heaven.

As a heathen, the entity called God by monotheist believers is whatI I call Ginnung, aka the Chaos.
Both are fake 😂
If you read the Bible, even the New Testament, they acknowledge there are other gods. They are referred to as Lesser Spiritual Beings, and we're not supposed to put them above God. They acknowledge that they powers on earth, but won't hqve any power when God's creation is redeemed.
Yep.
Shoot
You just have to look at the ten commandments.
Commands that you don't worship false Gods and don't put other Gods before him.
Yes this is the perfect example of a faith based god ... Don't worship others only worship me ... Voz i need that faith for empowerment. A real god does not need measly faith for empowerment but then again in the show humans can kill gods in their heyday.
Silly cult
Zeus being divinely petty just sounds like zeus from Greek mythology.
"Yes, Vesta had a vested interest in people who didn't plow." - That line made me laugh.
I'm pretty sure Chronos isn't Kronos.
The former is the god of time, the latter is a titan usually associated with crops.
thank you for putting me onto this show i really am enjoying it
It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen supernatural, so it took me a bit to recognize some of these clips
Any other pagans that got rubbed the wrong way about how they were handled?
i watched season one loved it and saw a clip of pagan gods and now i dont even want to watch the show anymore
My Hindu friend laughed when he saw this episode. Called it typical Christian tantrum 😂. Dunno why but I found that hilarious
Calliope came not for the girl who wrote the play, but for Chuck, essentially the main author of the stories, this is revealed at the end of the episode.
Nope, she literally came for the girl.
@Bardim18 rewatch the final scene, the girl literally says it out loud
How did you manage to watch so much of the show and get so much of it wrong lol
Fun fact: The truth serum from Harry Potter has the same name as the roman goddess of truth from supernatural
Which one of the princes of hell possessed a woman and then got it on with an archangel? That would be an awesome kid
I still don’t understand how the Archangel blades were so few and far between when they were all alive for a good portion of the show. And Gabe’s was an “archangel blade” but clearly wasnt. Just early writing when it was still supposed to end at season 5 lol
kronos cant control his power because he is a broken god "when zeus turned him into a eunuch"
