Yes, racism (and any form of bigotry) is a poisonous mindset that should be weeded out of any free and open society but being obtuse about how it is defined and identified doesn't help society progress either. Though the subjects can overlap, prejudice is an issue that goes much deeper than speech. Getting mad at a guy for mixing up words does absolutely NOTHING to address the underlying problems that keep racism alive.

that's why i listen to rap music cause we can drive by the blacks and have them call their own people call them the n word. ITS FUNNY That they think they cant be racist. THATS THE THING THAT MAKES THEM RACIST TOO. PLUS the bill wasnt about hindering any people from gettting in. but the black lady blew it up out of proportion to distract the real intention of what it helps. She made everyone hate whites because of it and wanted every black to feel that they just got called the n word again. Well shes the one that called them one not him. she used colors of all people in a derogatory term saying that colors only refer to black people. THAT IS RACISAT.

Ive heared colored is problematic, black is problematic, african american, afro american, and even person of color Normally its fine to just say the persons name. But if somone is asking you to describe sombody to them to see if they know who your talking about, i feel like if i ask 10 different ppl i feel like 8 out of 10 say "just say black or person of color" and then there 2 who have wholly singular descriptors they would prefer i use to describe the the fact that their skin has more melanin than mine. And i feel that the ppl who prefer that are usually the ones that brings this up. I want to respect whatever sombody wants to be called, their descriptor, pronouns, what have you. But i dont think i should get in trouble if somone asks "hey which tim were you talking about last night?" And both tims are the same height and build, and i go "black tim or darker Tim" i will admit "colored tim" gives me an uncomfortable feeling so i wouldnt use that, so maybe there IS a point here, but i do feel like there are some much more serious and impactful racial issues we could be focusing on than this one. Just one mans (kind of overblown) opinion lol

Can we talk about how "they/them" are problematic?? No matter how many times anyone says they've always been used to refer to a singular person, it's still sounds weird if the context isn't just right. It sounds like the singular person you're referring to has a multiple split personality disorder.

In addition to the points raised here, this also falls into the same camp as using the term "native american". It's not offensive itself, but it can be over-inclusive. A lot prefer the term "American indian" as it is specific to them; native americans withitn the lower 48 states of the USA. Some still prefer "native american" same as some people still prefer "coloured person" but being specific is important in a political setting

Relax all colours are a colour, including white. However the biggest serious joke is, their are no black or white people. African Americans Caribbean’s and Africans ( not North Africans) are all different shades of brown. Europeans are all different shades of pink.. Doubt me? Compare tins of black and white paint to both skin colours .
