i would have never guessed the guy with over 200k cerberus KC was botting
Experts in max gear claim to get about/just shy of 60 kills/hour on Cerberus. Using that baseline, it'd take him about 140 days of in-game playtime to hit that number, with no breaks or other activities involved. At 8 hours a day, 365 days a year, that's about 1.12 years of solid uninterrupted Cerberus-killing at peak human efficiency without. Human error and life in general would make 8 hours a day of that at peak efficiency impossible, so it'd take much longer. So, how long as their account existed, and when did it start Cerberus? 6 months ago? A year ago? 2? 3? Would be fun if Jagex could answer us as to when the account first started killing Cerberus, and what their average kill time was.

I got false banned 6 months ago for "macroing" i didn't even know what that was. I just came back to my childhood game and had been absolutely grinding for 4 months. I tried to appeal but it got denied.. I had a full month membership left, i was so disgusted that i just left.. I still don't know why i got banned.. Jagex should be ashamed of themselves.

Same here, this video is basically stating most bans are legit...hmmm not soo I'm positive the false bans are much higher than this. I was banned and have played for many years and have never cheated.
i got my account that i have had since 2007 banned for "macroing" last december. i have sunk years into that account... and all i got back was a bot response. i will honestly never forgive jagex for this.
It has been said by the old team leader himself before he got fired for asking to many questions.
That it is well known within jagex that they have about a 30% false banning rate, and that is only from what jagex knows themself.
Remember those bott bann days they live streamed? think about it, 3 from every 10 so called bots they banned was a legit player.
Changes the whole picture out of the sudden, I already felt sick on me stomach thinking about that devs would ever think about doing anything like that.
It is like a red herring and a huge no no for any company that does care about their reputation, but osrs team are just clowns.
Here's the real tea for the "They have high stats/kc" type arguments - Gaming speedruns. If you're at all aware of speedrunning in gaming, you'll know that cheating has been done by some of the best players in a category, and I think the same logic applies to OSRS. Being a long-standing account doesn't mean they won't resort to other methods once there's some credibility or even GP on the line, and in a lot of those case, the cheaters will use their recognizability or long standing within a community as a shield.
The banning system isn't perfect, but the waves of false bans isn't a real issue if account for about 0.36% of the bans thus far (as of Jagex's blog posting). It's easy to say it is when players see a few high profile cases, but when there's thousands, tens of thousands, or millions of bans over the course of several months, it's only realistic that some innocent players are going to be caught in the crossfire. It sucks, and Jagex should lower that number as much as possible, but it's a far cry from being this pandemic like some players make it out to be.
In a similar vein, when players see an obvious bot and wonder why it isn't being banned, they're not really thinking of the systems that go into detecting and banning bots. Again, if there ae thousands of bots being banned weekly, there are going to be some that are going to slip through the cracks because they've likely done some other action in their programing that hides them from detection. The arms race that Jagex mentions is directly addressing this - botters are actively trying to make their bots undetectable, likely by making them act like real players with minimal efficiency downtime. It's so easy to point out the ones we see and call them out, but we have no idea what the backend systems are looking for and what systems the botters are using to avoid detection.
TL;DR - being a long-standing member of the community doesn't mean they won't resort to cheating and players are far too quick to let their personal anecdotes/perceptions war their view of how clear-cut the botting issue is.

At least he got someone to look into it. It took me two years and several tries to get someone to actually look into it. When someone physically looked into it, my ban was overturned. TWO years. Every response before the last was the same text. The official appeal was returned denied in two minutes. Just saying. 38 false bans only my a**.
38 people they know of that the falsely banned, the others dont have a voice or an option to appeal because there is no customer support. And even a Jagex 'smackdown' isn't even a smackdown anymore, jmods have done a smackdown plenty of times and then been wrong. Like when they accused that starminer girl of using clients/botting.

Everyone talking about their false bans in the comments, lemme give a different perspective.
I sold accounts for a long time, from about 2014-2020. During that time, I sold a few hundred, probably ~300 accounts total(not a flex, if I did that as a job I would've made less than minimum wage lol). I hand trained them all, never used bots once. But, I also never used VPNs or anything like that. I just had it set up with buyers so that they could provide proof if an account I sold them got banned, I'd give them a full refund. I never once had to refund anyone and I've never had any of my personal accounts banned. So I just find that funny, you can safely peddle accounts for years but who knows when your maxed main might get false banned lmao.

the guy used botting on my main, and it got banned permantly, then i recovered it when i came back from vacation, and the ban was removed, but not long after, they hit me with a perm ban and denied unban
Xtina clip is partially why I don’t ever pk anymore or take anything to serious. Max gear, stats, pots, everything and you still hit 12 ZEROS, just make it make sense.

I'm not surprised i've been in so many discords and seen people using some shady shit, acting like they are good when they aren't.
I got permanently banned for RWT with no appeal option when I was not even playing, and there is no indication of unauthorized access since I have two-factor authentication set up. The account was only 5 months old and I had never done any trade with another player besides the times I did for the Shield of Arrav and Hero's Quest.

What i personally would do is... whipe out players their whole ban history and make everyone start from 0 in bans and after that make an actual team like sirpugger and others who are willing to do it for free and detect real bots and ban them.
I was falsely banned in 2007 perm banned and during rs3 release I was unbanned after soo many and I mean I sent a email every day I was finally unbanned I lost 2 years of membership cause of the perm falsely ban and didn't get refunded my money 😢

I remember like 2 years ago maybe they said they were going to be improving player support and all they gave us was JaGeX accounts. 😂. Almost 2 years later and still 0 player support.
They are ridiculously slow to implement any changes other than in game content Like a new quest or new boss.
I can list so many things players want JaGeX said they’ll do something about and they haven’t, Player support, improved servers, plugins (literally taken a few years to add basic plugins).
Mods spend too long on LGBTQ & woke matters than making the game better.

BRO WTF? THIS HAPPEN TO ME I LITERALLY got my account back 3 days ago! I was perma banned for 4 years on my skiller for NOTHING. I only played osrs on mobile and i didn't bot at all. I tried to appeal en contact mods years ago but nothing helped but then recently i tried to appeal again, and it got unbanned but they removed ALL MY GP, VALUABLES, and everything i collected from skilling. RIP my bank for absolutely no reason at all.. But i at least got my skiller back, all the hours i had spend on it, finally came back home

Started an account to make a 10hp pure traded it 17m and it got banned in 2 hours falsely. Ridiculous i sent an appeal and they denied it, their "false ban report" is false itself.
I started an f2p mage tank and got banned, gave it 15m to buy alchs and did it all by hand, got banned, no chance to appeal. It's garbage. I have 4 other f2p pures that I work on periodically when I get stuck on a hard quest or get bored of skilling on my main. After that ban I just quit, no point in grinding on my main and getting banned cause I grinded too hard. Also I grinded a bunch of gp to use for bonds, only bought 3 bonds in a year so I'm not really mad, just sucks the game is unplayable.
Oh and they're all on the same jagex account, i repeatedly posted on twitter "If my ban is correct please ban all my accounts, cheaters don't belong in the game" all other accounts are untouched.
My buddy got banned right infront of me playing OSRS. I know for a fact my buddy was legit and would never risk his 15 to 20 year old account. I just feel bad for him since he pretty much wasted so much of his life playing it and he won't be able to login for nostalgia ever. RIP

The reason so many players don't trust the validity of bans is that, despite Jagex claiming to have banned almost 7 millions accounts last year, Jagex somehow lets the most blatantly obvious offenders remain in play, such as the ak47 guy. Alongside that, as they somewhat addressed in the video, individual in-game player reports mean nothing and are almost always ignored... and even mass reportings are ignored now.
Tbh, the vast majority of the bots banned last year are probably the RWT-advertising bots in the GE, because just scanning chat messages is way easier than determining actual botting. When one is banned, another usually replaces it in the same world within a minute. Chances are a large chunk of those are also F2P bots, which seem to get banned more often.
It comes down to trust that Jagex will do the job correctly... a lot of players don't trust Jagex.
i had 3 accounts banned and i never broke any rules or cheated but at least 2 of them was just free2play accounts that got banned before i got member, apperantly going from 60 str to 70 in 3 days by killing hill giants in f2p is bannable offense

I got false banned for macro'ing during a time my account hadnt even logged in lmao. It got overtuned pretty much instantly when i put in a ticket but funny to see how bad jagex's ban system can be
A few years ago my main was hacked, when I tried to return to the game I had to recover the account. It was used to bot a RS3 Boss (that was before OS). After I got it back I tried to get Jagex to reset Ranged since it was 92 when I stopped playing and it was now 110. They refused, so I didn't play RS3 again, that wasn't my account anymore.
That was until I decided to create a F2P skill when Fletching becane a F2P skill on RS3. Hoped on the old main, sold everything and traded it to the new skiller. Months later the account was banned and appeal auto-declined, to this day I assume it's because of that 20M wealth transfer from an account that was used to bot bosses.
Enjoying OSRS on an UIM now though, life's hell but good.

Bans and hijacked accounts. I've officially quit runescape after more than 20 years. In less than a year my main 20 year veteran rs3 account was hacked and turned into a vorkath bot, and now my osrs main has been hacked and turned into a CG bot, currently at over 5,000 kc no ban. It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that I'm not even interested in finishing maxing my nearly 2200 total old school ironman.
Almost all people who are hacked cause it themself and most claiming false bans are lying.
I mean.. The first time I bought members on a brand new account it got perm muted from tutorial island and they don't even show a single line of chat for evidence. So i believe anything is possible. Anything except for an actual proper player support.

On average they ban 1 person a day wrongfully (out of the ones they discover are false bans) I would not say that is a good thing, even if they banned 100M bots rightfully. Because that is over one year a significant portion of the playerbase on average. They are doing a terrible job.

I got a false RWT ban and it was overturned within a day of me appealing so from my experience they are pretty on the ball with that kind of thing.
I know a few people that have been “false” banned for RWT. And they appealed and get turned over. But they actually were RWT. Buying mills. Hundreds of them. And they do it again after getting unbanned. The issue comes in them using different sites instead of the trusted one …it’s stupid af and almost all bans in my eyes are correct ! Yours also.

So Ayiza confirming its correct = means its actually correct? Cuz im pretty sure hes said it multiple times and the bans ended up being reverted, the most famous case i can remember would be Odablock's account "Omar" which ended up being changed to a temp ban

Had an HC Ironman false banned a month or two ago. The account basically had no stats or wealth which is very weird to even receive a punishment at all. HC Ironman banned for "RWT" is crazy when it has nothing, no stats and has never interacted with another player.

Jagex doesnt have a botting system... they are controlling the bots or the bot gangs. Clearly mods are being paid from bots. They even banned a streamer for hunting down their rev bots.

Funny thing is, i made a fresh account on "Freshman worlds" and made it member straight away. Walked to Catherby (after dying a couple of times due these shetty wolves), did fishing until level 5 and went for my sleep. Woke up, got banned for macroing lol. Appealed, and it remained perma banned. For me no more Runescape, if i want to play, ill play private servers.

Botting and cheating clients are the problem. It's too common to see players using auto prayers and auto eating. Although it's not a 6-hr bot farm it's still cheating and botting.....especially the Iron man community. I' live in the wilderness I see it more than a legit player.
Players are getin older and busier. The grind life is getting old.

I got banned a few weeks ago for no reason. I haven’t appealed it because my friends told me not to, “as I only have one chance”
I had just gotten a max cape back in December and started my pet grind as I only had like 3 pets. I was spending more than 10 hours a day bossing and I got instantly permed, not even a 2 day. Please fix this jagex. This is so unfair. I’ve been playing this game for 17 years pretty much every single day. I have tens of thousands of hours invested into this game. I just want to go back to playing the game I love on the account I worked for it on.

Just wipe out the game again and put some latest software detection like other new games. It is 2024 now and security of the game ia not super reliable. Having a false ban and many bots running around and not getting ban. Im now thinking to quit this game because of this issue. Or maybe Im going to switch to private server too.

Most of those bots banned are f2p bots. If you pay for membership theres a much higher chance of not getting banned. Imagine that. Also still havent got my old main back that was false macro banned * didnt play it since rs2 other than logging in randomly to check age. * it got banned last year. And yes it was a false ban no questions. And imagine that it was f2p. It also still had 2factor still active
