    these are great for beginners. I started taking Taekwondo classes when I was 7 and stopped when I was 11, and I've gained the experience to be able to completely take down a 6', 200 lb man. I deeply encourage anyone (not just women!!) to look into taking self defense classes because you never know when they may save your life.

      @Real_LiamOBryan Год назад +2

      I'm a man that took Tae Kwon Do for 5-6 years between the ages of 9 and 14-15. Tae Kwon Do teaches you very little that is useful and, even it was a useful art, every 20 lbs. of bodyweight difference makes it much more difficult to defend yourself. Men have roughly 25% more muscle than women, on average, and male muscle results in roughly 25% more strength at the exact same muscle mass. Height and bone thickness each provide men advantages as well. It harms women to be fed the delusion that they can, realistically, "able to completely take down a 6', 200 lb man" outside of the rare exception.

    Simple Self Defense Moves That Probably Won't Work
    reason: Tempo.
    All of this action requires the attacker to not take further action, odds are if someone is doing all this to you then they intend to do more.
    If you think crunching down on someone's forearm is defensive you're going to get smacked in the face, hard, and repeatedly.

    • @warsinaction2450
      @warsinaction2450 7 лет назад +7

      Why World Why As a half black (grade before black) belt, actually they are very similar to the stuff I know and can use. For example the arms on head one is a simplier variation on one of my favourite disarming methods. However, it requires to catch a punch with a block which is more complex. I think you would be surpised about the effectiveness of these techniques.

    • @heffdiggy3322

    • @mariekeana
      @mariekeana 7 лет назад +8

      That's why most moves included attacking the groin. If you hit a man in the groin really hard, they won't be able to get up in time to catch and attack you again.

    • @horvathbenedek3596
      @horvathbenedek3596 7 лет назад +2

      WarsInAction It is never meant to be done from a block. I did shotokan karate for several years, made it to brown belt, but criticism is always a healthy thing. Karate has many moves which can't be used. At all. Just take the age-uke (I don't know how to write it, upper block with the forearm). It is practically never usefull. Yet this twisting technique is best applied from there.
      What I found actually usefull, is to catch someone's leading hand, pull/wrench it out to the side while sidestepping, start the crocodile-roll, twist his/her arm back, and ALWAYS try to secure the grip by closing in and leaning on their neck. I know this is hard to transfer like this, but try it out, it is surprisingly effective if you have the grip to do it. People don't expect these kind of agressive defensive techniques.

    at a self defense class i took, i learned that the groin is not always the best place to attack, because guys are good at protecting it and it won't always stop them. eyes and throat are great because it will be harder for your attacker to pursue you if they can't see and/or breathe well. i also learned to kick the knees to impair them from running after you.

    Honestly, as a kickboxing instructor and fighter who teaches women's self defence classes, these videos will do little to nothing, it's just not very realistic and applicable. Do yourself a huge favour and join a local boxing, kickboxing or MMA gym and take a few classes. It's an awesome workout and you'll learn a lot more and actually use it in a safe and controlled environment. I just don't want people thinking watching a few videos is enough and this is something I'm passionate about lol

      @David_Downs 7 лет назад +7

      you can IF you have a firm background in martial arts, and already understand the principals to understand the technique, but you will likely not if you are just trying to learn from youtube without any background, and without understanding the techniques before.
      You can learn self defense from videos if what you are watching is already in line to what you know, and you can just apply it from that perspective.
      But yeah, if you have no experience, and try to learn from videos, you will have a problem, as well as wont be able to ensure that you are training properly, and safely.

    Some of these might work if done properly, but even then just knowing a few techniques themselves won't save you. Only training in martial arts and pressure testing your abilities will allow you to become a better fighter and only then will you truly be capable of defending yourself.

    If you're in a choke hold from the front ALWAYS put your arms through the inside, and try to get separation or release of tension. Trying from the outside just makes yourself vunurable and puts more pressure on your neck.

    Wow an actually useful Buzzfeed video...
    One thing to note, when you clinch and go for knees, don’t grab the back of the neck. It does nothing for you leverage wise. Grab the crown of their head, and knee accordingly. Grabbing the crown helps you control the posture of your opponent much more as compared to the back of the neck.

    i feel the need to point out, for all the people saying 'why is this ONLY for women', it isnt. its just saying it is because a woman is more likely to be handled in these positions, even if you're comparing this to a guy vs guy or a girl vs guy, do you really think he or she would grab the guy in question from behind? pull their hair? this happens more frequently to women in danger of being raped or hurt

      Yes very true, men who grab women simply do not expect a full fledged fight they might get from a man.
      If you give him one, he will most likely shrink away fast. It is all about the physical feeling of "NO" followed by hard striking with the knowledge it must be continual strikes until the threat abates.

    I get that buzzfeed can be sexist for sure, but this video just happens to be targeted to women to defend theirselves against men. If you wanted a video about self defense in general, well I understand why you would be disappointed but you can just simply search for another video.I am so grateful for videos like this because they ease up my fears a bit about getting attacked. I am sorry that I assume my attacker to be male, but me and my friends deifinitely never worry about getting attacked by a woman. That is because when I walk down the streets it's the men that leer, the men that are huddled up looking at me, the men that are catcalling me. This kind of thing and assumptions (which are based on facts) planted in me by society is why I assume my attacker to be a man. I'm sorry if you guys out there are offended, but we don't fear/hate all of you, of course not! we just feel threatened by certain people we come across that coincidentally usually turns out to be a male. If you're not an aggressor, then really what is there to complain about?

    One of the nastiest and most effective moves out there (which is even better for ladies) is the arm whip. Swipe the back of your limp hand across an attacker's face like a flail. Keep your hand loose so it can't be blocked and so your fingers act like a flail. Long nails make this move 10x more effective. It gouges eyes, disorients, hits the nose, and scratches the face. All these effects trigger primal urges to shield your face with your hands and tear up, allowing you to strike again or run away.

    I have to disagree, never ever strike a man if you have a clear chance to run away
    Men are far stronger, than a woman so if you have an oppritunity to run don't attack.
    the best way for women to win in a fight is to avoid it, to run and flee, and to run into a crowded area by yelling and screaming if possibe, this will allow her to be safe while contacting authorities and getting by standards to be a phsyical saftey.
    However if you must fight, never ever go to the ground, gauge out eyes kick the groin if neccessary
    and use weapons if it means saving your life.
    Hollywood gets it wrong a man will most likely win in a fight against a woman no contest, a fight isn't some epic scene it's bloody and brutal the best thing to do is to run away and if possible and ideally go to a public place.

  • @tin4079
    @tin4079 7 лет назад +1

    some of these tips are gonna definitely end up with you being killed
    some alternative better ones
    1) the making a lot of noise and the non-stop fighting back are right and the number one things to remember unless you are entirely sure your attacker is incapacitated don't run. you're more likely to get tackled or taken down
    2) following that get in as close as you can (esp. if you're smaller) they can't defend themselves as easily and if you go down you can take them with you
    3) stay as balanced as you can bend your knees and widen your stance. they will most likely try to unbalance you , don't be in a position where you'll fall easily
    4) don't go for the groin an attacker can ignore the pain of it on adrenaline. go for the throat , eyes, or kidneys to get out of a hold
    5) take out the knees
    6) do. not. stop. hitting.
    this is difficult to translate through text, I'll probably do a video on it later. There's a lot more to be covered

    • @ipodgirl95

      Ani the Great this wasn't feminism. It was sexism. This is putting more responsibility on women to avoid being assaulted or raped. It is assuming women are weaker therefore "everyone" clearly just means women. Men are assumed in this video to be already strong enough to fight people off. It's championing of masculinity and assuming women are weaker, offensive to both men and women.

    • @jackie2rose
      @jackie2rose 7 лет назад +38

      It's just more likely for a woman to be over powered by a man, and not be able to defend herself . If a man loses a fight against another man he might only get bruises or a broken nose woman can get far worse. FYI feminism is supposed to be equal rights for both men and woman (though some people act like it means woman should be superior )
