Conesville AEP Smoke Stacks Demolition - 12/19/2021

On the morning of Sunday, December 19th, 2021, the smoke stacks at Conesville's AEP Coal Plant were set to be imploded at roughly 0800. However due to low hanging clouds, the demolition was pushed back to around 10AM. Just after 0920, the whistle sounded signaling the 15 minute countdown. Right around 0935, the west tower was detonated and down she fell. The other two followed shortly after. It was definitely a solemn day for this small town as it will never be the same again. I feel for everyone who's jobs and lives we're impacted by this plant. This video was shot from Rt. 16

I live 18.8 miles, straight line, to the West of there and felt and heard that crash at 9:37 this morning. Thank you for the time stamp to confirm that's what it was. Nice video👍

I lived in Conesville and would always use the smokestacks as a wind sock to see where the weather was coming from. I could see them from my kitchen window. So sad for the community and workers to see this facility close.
