Allen Fossil Plant Implosion

All 3 of the 400-foot tall chimney stacks at the retired Allen Fossil plant in Memphis were safely imploded this morning as part of the Allen Restoration Project. We are striving for cleaner and more efficient energy generation as we build the energy system of the future, while restoring the site for the benefit of the community through economic development. The nearby Allen Combined Cycle Plant, which began operations in 2018, has two of the world’s largest and most efficient natural gas turbines enabling total plant capacity to reach over 1,100 Megawatts-enough power to supply more than 600,000 homes.
