Makes sense to use a character actor whom he likes and works well with his material as long as it doesn't get out of hand. Walt Disney suggested casting Sterling Holloway in almost every Disney animation project from _Dumbo_ onward even though his performances more or less sounded like Winnie the Pooh each time. Holloway didn't work on all the projects but he worked on a lot of them.

I have nothing against this show at all, but Octavia deserves better than having to do a sitcom. She should be getting movie work full time.
She is, and she can afford to pick movies and other projects she is interested in. Even Oscar winners have their favorite shows and are sometimes interested in guest starring. Think about everyone who appeared on "Friends," for example.
Well, maybe she just enjoys the show and knows Chuck Lorre and let him know that if he has something interesting to let her know. It's a bit like how some stars and public figures had small cameos on Star Trek or in Star Wars because they loved the show so much and in some cases were excited to wear the uniform and be on set for the day even if they weren't getting paid. Now likely since she is actually acting, she's getting paid and probably not just union scale, but she might enjoy doing the part. Actors act for many reasons, and sometimes maybe a small role just seems like fun to them especially if she is between projects.

Just wondering if it was ok for her to pretend that she s a weak old lady not to do comunity service. when she s an old lady but quite strong and healthy. It just seems wrong considering how many old people who are truly ill and weak dont get any favors.

Okay morally? Also no.
But most people would try if they felt if they could get away with it.
The way I see it, either it works and she gets an easier punishment(technically she is an elderly woman who could and has had trouble getting up if she falls the wrong way) or it doesn't work and she gets the full punishment. So why not try it?
