This is one of the funniest videos I’ve seen..
Guy pulls up in a mini bike, backs the snowmobile in with a mini 4 wheeler, has a mini snowmobile out the front and does a wheelie on a mini scooter !! I laughed my head off !! Shout out from Australia 🇦🇺
hahah im glad you appreciate all the mini toys.
I have that same sled 2005 RMK 900 was actually riding it today. Bought it brand new. Low mileage on it
I have an 05 fusion snow checked it in blue with Walker Evans shops I have a whole whopping 1100 miles on it plus I was just finished the last warrantee last year 15 years after the sled with the fuel tank finally it’s new it still runs
I had one that I snow checked, broke the crank twice in the first 2 months of ownership. Polaris did very little to get it fixed & missed some pretty good riding while waiting. Got it back from the dealer in the spring, sold it & that was the last Polaris vehicle I ever purchased
I bought a ultra that blewup on first ride Polaris told me I had to wait till following Nov to fix because pistons were back ordered! I then bought the next fall went through 2 jackshafts in 6 wks! Polaris would not put third one in because they said it was abused! The races on jackshaft were spinning on the shaft! THe dealer went to bat then covered it himself He adviced me to go with another brand! Ten yrs latter I decided to give Polaris another shot & bought a07 Ranger 700xp {4 my parents on a2 1/2 island} .Brought in 4 a 10 hour ckeck w/a leaking rear diff Polaris would not cover claiming abuse ! I will try & discourage anyone from buying POLARIS !!!
The old 340’s and the 600 are good engines. Everything else Polaris ever made is JUNK.
@@deaglanmustapha2943 maybe if you didn't stand on throttle when you ride all the time you might get more life and run time out of your stuff always remember you pay to play sounds like its not the manufacturer it's the operator maybe polaris is junk but researching the brand from other people's experiences is obviously very important... stick with ski doo or yamaha
Agreed any Polaris dealer tries to get you uncovered by ours for warranty bc of “abuse”
You broke the crank twice in 2 months sure you did
I test rode that sled in ‘05. I asked if it was detuned for break-in because the power felt underwhelming. It apparently wasn’t detuned. It was still a fun sled, though. I find them for really cheap now with either blown engines or freshly rebuilt. The was pre-covid prices, though. They’re probably double the price at the moment. Lol
That was when Polaris made the 7and 9 hundred sleds instead of the 800. That was a limited year with the 900 RMK and Fusion IQ trail sleds, there first rider forward sleds. I had a 2001 800 Edge and snow checked a 06 Fusion IQ 600. Boy was I glad, that motor became legendary and the 7and 9 became infamous. They were heavy and slow on the top end, everyone got sparked on them. My motor ripped, almost equaled my 01 800. The sled was nimble and handled great, in and out of the throttle and turns. No one was happy with that motor and they went back to an 800 and ditched the 7.
In 2005 Polaris still made the 800
@@arthuraces5573 yes the 900 was only limited to one trail model and one off trail.06 was the full flip over
I have the '01 500 Edge and it seems to be a decent sled. Almost bought the 800, but figured I didn't need that much power. Lol
i just sold an 07 fusion 900 last year. worked great, but it was a piece. 🤣
I remember when these came out, that 166 version was a monster, too bad they were so unreliable, and the M series was eating everyone's lunch.
The m series was a great sled at the time 👏
I bought a 1982 kawasaki ltd750. It was in his barn, and he said he had put a new battery in it, and couldn't get it to start. I put it on the trailer and handed him $200. I had a crazy suspicion...so pulled into the gas pumps on the way home. Put ten bucks worth of hi test in the bone dry gas tank, turned the key on, and started it right up. Ran smooth and clean. Sold it two days later for $850!
Had a 2005 fusion 900 . Trinity engine . Zero problems with it . Started great handle pretty good ( not a rev though ha ha )
I still remember being in the Bighorns and seeing Polaris riders testing these prior to release. There were so many sensors and wires on the test sleds. Guys that figured them out, flat loved them.
Thanks for sharing the memory!
are the 800s any good?
laughed at the thin air motorsports sticker, bought my first new sled from them in 2012 when i was living in south lake tahoe, still have that sled
i just sold a 2007 polaris fusion 900 last year. it worked good for me but i think it was exactly the same under the hood. but otherwise still had a lot of fun with it. also had a 97 indy lite. that thing was mint. miss it
I miss my Lite..that thing would go anywhere
I guess I got lucky. I bought one with 2k miles, original head with factory compression. Only thing is it's PAINFUL to pull start. Literally.
👏
Love when you find easier fixes like this, bought an absolutely mint Kawasaki KX125 the older couple bought for there son and he out grew it, they thought it was completely blown up when I got there it had compression so I bit the bullet took it home and they must have just put dirty fuel in it and clogged off the fuel valve, cleaned the fuel valve and it fired right up and ran perfect only paid $500
Those are the Best Buy’s!
The firstultra I ought the spinal were painted & which resulted in gorilla steer when I told the dealer I bought it from he said "so what! It's a fuckin Polaris what do U expect ! ( Berlin city Polaris).
The dealer that took care of me was Jackman Powersprts in maine
@@FeederCountry click bait videos are the worst type🤣😂🤣🤣
up here in pa i got one. took care of it. walkerevans shocks. i didn't buy it to go fast i got it for the much better suspension than my 98xlt. it got good milage and if you were man enough to pull the rope it always ran. i put pistons in and found the pto side was cracked. it was a good dependable ride. but i absolutely love my 2016 rush 800 pro s lt.
That’s awesome you had good memories of your 900. What part of PA. I grew up in PA also.
I bought two in 2006 , 159 and 166 had the factory updates and slp pipe and scratchers for hard pack , 166 blew up once on a super cold day but warranty covered it , I always add extra oil to the fuel for added protection, only dislike was for side hilling, had to really pull , lived the hill climb abilities sold them when factory warranty was up . Would own again
I don’t know if these were carbed or fuel injected but Adding more oil creates a richer oil to fuel mixture but a leaner air to fuel mixture which May have not been what you were looking for.
How are you guys dealing with that damn wind
Sitting next to it is one of the best sleds Polaris made XLT
Couldn't agree more. I had a 1993 XLT Special with the 580 triple. Not super powerful, but it had an amazing sound. I miss that sled.
What machine do you speak of? (Genuinely looking for help identifying it)
Excellent poring skills, didn’t spill a drop. Love the mini bike and atv!
Haha thanks dude!
We love the mini toys.
I had the exact sled, after 3 top ends, in 500 miles, I sold it
i am looking at a 2013 IQ 600 ltx 2 up with only 550 miles on it they want 7500 any thoughts ? good or bad motor -too much loot ?
Idk much about those sleds. Sorry man 🤙
Whats that arctic cat next to it. I really like the vents and the windshield on it. Where could i get some vents like them for one along with the windshield?
Yes that’s one of fros garage part sleds that he bought. I’m not sure what vents are on them. I’ll try to remember to ask him.
@@FeederCountry ok thanks man
I have an 06 rmk 900 and its been a great sled odd
Despite those sleds being lemons, free for something that new and runs is a great deal lmao
Wish I knew this fact before I bought one. Mine had ecu failure recently and was always overheating. Glad to be rid of it.
should mount that hitch on the front of that little 4wheeler
I have the 06-07. 700. I love it
The 700s have always been good sleds!
I had one, Fusion, blue. Ran just fine.
I had a 94 Indy XLT 580 purple just like that one in the video
Yeah, they threw pistons all over the countryside. The 900. Prob only Rotax littered the fields with more pistons.
Broken motor mount ?
My buddy has one. Guy blew up the 900, put a Carl's 1000 into it. 200 miles later he sells it to my buddy, who blew the block apart in 30 miles.
😔
The 900 is notorious for the throttle body boots cracking and leaning out.. The water pump oil pump shaft seal is another problematic failure .
A self mechanic said you can’t even let them idle for to long or they’ll burn a hole right throw the top of the piston head
@@westernstar.roadtrain7246 that's why you don't take your shit to a backyard mechanic
I had a blue one ,when it ran it was insane but it broke something daily. Junk
I loved mine it was heavy but some upgrades and it was a climbing mutha over 12k
Reaving the throttle like that it will be blown up shortly
That's soo hard on the track to run it dry
@Feeder Country , opinion on the 1997 Doo Summit 670 136? Relevant in 2021/2022?
I owned one of those before. It’s a bad ass sled. I think all sleds are relevant. It takes a better rider to ride an old sled as well as a new sled.
@@FeederCountry well said, for $1400, and a digitron, mint, 9/10 shape, better collect her! I rode since 1993, so I am not too bad) haha all the boys are running new chassis, still will be challenging to keep up, and in the super deep, no way to hang with the 165's.
@@randylee2549 for sure nothing matches a new sled in deep powder. But nothing matches the smile after pulling off a line on your old sled your buddy can’t do on his new sled.
@@randylee2549 I have a 2001 RMK 800 that I have been putting a lot of time into. I have some videos of it on my channel. I also have a 2003 xcsp 700 that’s getting a lot of love. Also recently got a 94 Indy 500 that need some attention before putting it on snow.
@@FeederCountry here, here. And Not breaking down in 2000 miles. I know a 670 will run 6-7000 miles without burning down, new 850's on both brands have issues out of the box. Emissions, and quality run down reliability big time!
i have 1997 polaris xlt indy like rhe one beside that .
Just bought one. Hope she holds out but man..does it go.
JUST BOUGHT ONE TODAY! 3300 miles and 500 on the rebuild. He hasn't driven it in the last two years. Throttle body boots are cracked and ordered new ones. Exhaust gasket is leaking so ordered the slp ones and maybe will do the intake upgrade.
No Effin Way. Are you guys in Reno or the area? Thats my old sled. I won that in 2005 from Ride Snowboards. I know its my old sled because I see where where the Ride Snowboards name plate was that I removed when I sold it. There are 4 holes drilled into the body under the seat.
Yes sir we are in Washoe Valley just south of reno. Dude that so crazy this was your old sled. Some kids from Gardnervill took it home for $500.
Loved riding my 900 it always ran great, its still in tahoe sitting😉
I think it’s fair to say the ones that still run are the good ones. And there were plenty of ones that didn’t run well at all and they are all dead.
@@FeederCountry yeh I guess that’s the truth. Mine was a great sled to learn side hilling had a great balance point.
@@Demop_VW_garage ain’t that the truth. To be honest all my Polaris rmk sleds have a great balance point 😉
@@FeederCountry we have a feet of skidoos in the rescue team here and they just don't side hill as easy.
@@Demop_VW_garage no they don’t. Heavy to hold up in the gullies too. But great power. I enjoy every time I get to ride a Gen 4.
Any tips on cleaning out snowmobile gas tanks? Got an Artic cat for free and cannot get the sticky sludge cleaned out. Tried everything from vinegar to toilet bowl cleaner. Even shook it vigorously with bolts and nuts.
Sounds like you tried every method in the book. Might be time to buy a new tank. That sucks.
Parts cleaner or petroleum distillates
purple power cleaner equipment solution at automotive parts store
Brake parts cleaner, cuts through anything and is cheap
@@bryanbressem5026 yeah but if you breath the exhaust it will quite likely kill you in seconds... parts cleaner residue on welding also lethal, lethal, fast. read up on it.
I had an 06 anniversary model 800
The 900 was a claw hammer compared to the fst 750! And 09 800s where pretty terrible. I remember so many coming back to the dealer cause they only made 600cc power
For as bad as it was, the fusion 900 was so god damn fun to ride
They were fast too. If they didn’t blow up that is.
@@junkhondas481 then you ride a 600 arctic cat, Yamaha, or skidoo and you YAWN at how slow they were.
What was it... 27 factory recalls on those? Looks like yours has a broken motor mount.
I thought you were talking about the 800 dragon lol
Ds80?
I miss the sleds from the 80s and 90s. Sure they broke down a lot but at least 95% of the time you could fix them trailside. Just needed to stay away from the triples. I had a 2001 XC 600 and never had a major issue. To damn many computers in stuff now.
The old Fuji built Indy 500 (488cc) was a pretty good engine too.
My coworker bought a 2007 700 4stroke. What a POS that thing was. It spent almost the whole first season in the shop for factory "recalls". The second season, it spent a month in the shop because it ran so rich it would flood all the time. Thing was heavier than a Sherman tank full of sand.
I rode it once on a trail in White Mountains. It rode quite nice on rough trails. Better than my Skidoo 550 fan expedition.
Issue is that it’s a 4 stroke
I know a guy who got a 2021 650 2 stroke Polaris last year. Engine has failed twice so far. Computer didn't pump enough oil to the engine. Has Polaris learned anything?
I know a guy that makes vented oil caps for the polaris snowmobiles that helps fix that problem. I guess the tanks aren't vented properly and it starves the engine of oil.
The quadrunner is verry beautiful too !
It’s our favorite new toy.
We rented one in 06 .... Probably a setup issue
But we had this thing and a 900 twin m9? Cat ....this polaris was hard to steer and was more smooth linker power then the cat .... The big cat would stand up and pull hard and steer way nicer ......
You can see my RUclips video of this under my name and McBride snowmobile 06 or something like that
I loved my 2005 polaris 900 fusion it had all the updates done right away. I got it used for next to nothing due to bad publicity. I put some after market skis on an over 10000 miles out of her.
What a great story. Thank you for sharing!
Gimme an '03 800 XCR any day. Wish I'd never sold mine, I'll tell you that. It would run away and hide from that Fusion.....
@@milojanis4901 Riding since 1988, 2000 xcr 800 (sks) is my alltime favoritt sled, bought brand new by my father, unfortunly he only rode it one season before he past away, i still have the xcr, stil runnimg strong, never had any problems except the one motor mount its known to rip apart if you dont get a good aftermarket engine torque stop
I was into this channel until I saw the MAN BUN....lol!
I had a 2005 121 Fusion, it ran fine and ripped. But, I dumped it and bought a 2006 for the improvements.
The 700 from that era was not any good either.. but fun to ride when it actually worked :P
I've heard it said that if the 2006 has come out first, the horrible reputation wouldn't exist. I had an '06 for 2 seasons, and they were unrefined, but never broke.
good to hear yours never broke! #luckydog
Fills the tank.
Doubles the value of the machine. 😅
I had one of these.
Did rad delete, fire n ice intake, new pistons. Slp can. A arms, float 2's, motor mounts....
Put 3k into the machine total....
Got 1 season out of it before it melted down.
I have a 600 dragon from 2018 and it still hasnt had a full season. As of right now it still doesn't work
That's a great story bill!!
Didn't know these sleds were such a problem?
I didn't ride for a lot of years, so I wasn't up on the snowmobile thing.
I did get back into it about 6 years back ,things are a lot different from when I rode 30 years ago.
Thanks for sharing
Had a DS80 once, regret selling it. One will look at it and say, cute bike, but don't let it fool you. Won't hesitate to come over backwards with a 190lb person on it if it's downshifted at the right curve of the powerband.
Look at that motor shake and twist. Holy shit.
The confusion
Wish I could find a cheap sled that just needs gas lol... I need a sled bad
My Neighbor had one .. I don't think it ever caught on fire however..
Highly doubt these claims... how can it be worst snowmobile ever made by polaris if it's still around 17 years+ later? And still running pretty decent Polaris usually makes pretty solid sleds idk about anything else from them
That’s nice sled!
Tell you what, I’ve never seen someone with enough balls to pore gas like a glass of milk 😂
The best way around these stupid safe cans!
that thing has broken motor mounts or something
Ive got a 07 600cfi
Had a 90 Indy Storm 800. It was a high speed beast. It was way too heavy for tight trails. I went back to 600s for lighter sleds, better fuel range. Love the AXYs and Matrix sleds
I just bought a 97 storm. It will be on the channel soon
I had a 750 storm some years back. I was the last guy in the trails until we made it to the ice. Lol
In one of the old Team Summit videos, Oberti absolutely totals his 900IQ in one of the most epic endos off a cliff. Maybe a fitting ending?
Haha such a fitting ending! What a great piece of history. Thanks for sharing!
Can we have a link to that?

They stopped making good sleds at the turn of the millennium. Polaris couldn't go bankrupt because they were making to much money from the US military building ATV's. Snowmobiles were a byproduct at that point.

i call that stubborn when every time it's something half azz thought through that come out the line...

Thise 900s are torque monsters. They really arent that bad if a few things were done to them and it never almost bankrupted polaris 😂
They are that bad dude, these thing were blowing up left right and center under warranty. Dealerships were at their wits end trying to fix these sleds on their first season that ALREADY blew themselves up.
@@motakai3898 they needed alot of updates but sleds are a small percentage of the overall income Polaris brings in. Their government contracts alone would provide enough income to keep them afloat at the time even if all other products produced by them were in the hole
There was a model that almost ended Polaris, it was the Comet.
Welders were working at night for free trying to keep the lights on.
When these were new my old man was in business selling polaris. 05 900s were turds. The 06 were okay. But we put more motors in 09 800s then we ever put in 900s
My riding buddy is the head mechanic for land and Sea, dealership in Connecticut. This motor and it’s crank were a nightmare. It did almost destroy Polaris snowmobile
Definitely never almost bankrupt Polaris. They weren’t the best, but they weren’t the worst. FST was a very close second place to the worst tho.
Saw a documentary on Polaris they said the Fusion broke sled sales records at the time - that’s why there’s many broken sleds, there’s a lot of Fusion sleds out there and many get abused or aren’t well maintained. Also the 900 Fusion was one of the fastest production vehicles made at that time and still today.
There goes the sliders

4:45 ofcourse it tows that easy, its a suzuki. not a kawasaki
I had an Indian Scout.....another Polaris product. The bike would die on the freeway when ever it was hot. It spent it's last month of my ownership in the Indian shop. The shop never could figure out the problem and Polaris did nothing to resolve the issue. I will never own a Polaris product ever again. One and done.
The 1st EFI sleds were all problem childs. My neighbor bought the Arctic Cat 900 EFI and brand new it fouled plugs so fast you couldn't even ride it. He lost the whole season while they kept doing the software updates and fuel system mods trying to get it to work properly. Ran OK once they got it fixed and we didn't get much snow (central NY) for the next couple years.
