- Hi everyone, in this video I have discussed One Nation One Election in India & the recent news around it:
📌One Nation, One Election' refers to the proposal of conducting simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, Municipalities, and Panchayats.
1️⃣The committee recommended simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Legislative Assemblies be held in the first phase.
2️⃣And in the second phase, the elections to Municipalities and Panchayats could be held within 100 days of the elections to the House of the People and the State Legislative Assemblies.
Legal challenges to amend the Constitution
There would be a need to amend the Constitution and Representation of the People Act, 1951. The amendments are required for altering the fixed term of assemblies.
How many parties were in favour and against 'one nation and one election'?
The panel approached 62 political parties, out of which 47 responded. Thirty two political parties, which includes the BJP and most of its allies in National Democratic Alliance, have supported the concept of "one nation, one election". 15 political parties, including the Congress, strongly opposed the idea and claimed it would violate the basic structure of Constitution.

@@Akashdeep_Singh_Kashyap That case is different. Election commission can conduct re-election if such case occurs, but that cm should be there untill the general elections only, not 5 years. It will be better.
Biggest disadvantage is that if there is a Wave of any particular party, it would get the benefit in the state elections as well, and plus it would be easy for them to talk about projects which are being worked on by both the state and centre govt together and they'd ask for votes based on the fact that if their party is in power in both the Centre and State, then they would be able to provide you better and faster development

@@WrestlingkiDuniya9299 this is not an Advantage to Us, for us it's a disadvantage, suppose If I'm a supporter of a Regional party, but due to certain Wave of any National Party Candidate and One Nation One Election, many people from my state would probably vote for that National Party Candidate and ultimately my state party's votes and seats would be affected and they might even lose, so basically Ek teer se 2 nishaan by that particular Person. This Would be a disadvantage if the State Govt of my state was doing well good work, let's take for example BJD of Odisha, due to any wave in the Lok Sabha elections, his Own Lok sabha as well as Vidhan Sabha seats and votes could be affected,

The major cons of this concept is affect of Federalism and separation of power.
Actually the biggest disadvantage you didn't discuss. It'll benefit the national parties more than regional parties. In rare cases, reverse can also happen. Basically, one who will run aggressive campaign is likely to influence voters.

I don't see any difficulty in implementation. Some things will have to be tweaked.
1. EVM can have 2 or more buttons for state and local elections. VVPAT can be combined.
2. The same security force deployment can be used.
3. Already in vogue presidential elections in the USA... Time tested successful electoral systems can straight way be borrowed, without trying to reinvent the wheel

I think the intention of this policy is good, but while implementing this, the policy has to clear lots of legal hurdles. Beside this fact, I think in this process the local or state level issues will be dumped for bigger national interests, so the relevance of the regional parties will be reduced to nothing. In this way, the chiefs of state government will be a mere yes-man representative of central government as it will lead towards less diversity in the political field and create a one or two party systems like many Western developed nations. 🔥🔥

Good proposal, a software linking PAN Aadhar & some important documents like degree, HSC certificate with photo Id should be developed by C-dac for voting Pan-India. The voting should be done with minimum access software which should be linked with the web. Only PCs should be linked with Regional offices or District collector offices. More, money resources time and working manpower hours could be saved.

If state govt loses no confidemce motion in legislative assembly then what and of centre govt looses no confidence motion in lok sabha then what....we shall again come back to staggered election
I guess instead of One election they should go with Two elections i.e one will be for centre and other for state in this way the waves of party at centre won't work with the election of state and also this way people would also get choices.

I'm more in favour of "One nation, Two elections".
Lok sabha elections and Vidhansabha elections should not be mixed because there would be higher chances of central party to win the elections. ❤
1 nation 2 elections seems to be a better option. First there would be general election and after 2/3 years assembly+panchayat+municipal election. In this way all political party would have a fear of losing popularity in every 2/3 years.
My suggestion for one nation one election is very simple
Apr -may -Jun 2024 - lok sabha
Oct -Nov -Dec 2026 - vidhan sabha
Apr - May - Jun 2029 - lok sabha
Oct - Nov - Dec 2031 - vidhan sabha
And so on........

One nation one election is only possible in a presidential system but if you try to implement in a parliamentary system it's just a disaster.

@@glimmerdewdrop7594" uniformity is not unity" in a presidential system one leader is chosen ( like in usa ) and then after when his term is completed election takes place nationwide (election time might vary in some states due to various reasons) then the members of the electoral college cast their votes for the selection of president . But when you see a parliamentary system it's different we select our leaders in the centre and also in centre , if we conduct all election's at once then various problems could be faced
1. We have to admit the harsh truth that most of our voting population is uneducated about how to vote whom to vote, what are there rights , who is working for there cause , which leader will take their issues to the parliament ( hamare yahan aaj bhi gaon me lorries me logo ko polling booth me le ja ke bas ek button dabwaya jata hai) then how would someone think that such people can differentiate between lok sabha and vidhan sabha. If people were educated enough then there will have been no movies stars , cricketers and other famous personalities who doesn't even visit there constituency.
2. In one nation one election local issues, local politics would might extinct.
3. What if we implement one nation one election and a state govt. falls , would they have to wait the whole tenure under president rule? What about the state issues.
4. One of the biggest arguments which are given in the favour of one nation one election is that it saves political leaders time and nations money , so I would say that is it necessary for PM'S or CM'S to conduct so expensive rallies during MLC election's if a law would be made that stop's politician's for conducting rallies when there are election below their league, this would have 2 benifits FIRSTLY voters would get to know more about their local leaders which would help then to choose their candidate wisely and SECONDLY money will also be saved when big rallies would not take place for bigger leaders.
More like this there are many drawbacks of one nation one election which I had not mentioned.
I would suggest not to get much involved in these kide of debates but look after other major issues, parties start these debates to divert our focus from main issue and hide there failure's.

We all know the REAL reason for ONOE. So a perticular party can win in the center & all the states in 1 go. I for 1 am not complaining. It will be interesting to see the long term effects of ONOE on democracy. 😊
