Eddy Guizonde it's refreshing to see a guy having a pile of fun rather than being serious. It's a good reason why he sticks out among everyone else. No rockstar facade. It's just him.
There isn't a whole lot of his music I like, but he's still such a fantastic musician and he's such an awesome dude in so many other ways I tend to watch a lot of stuff like this regardless.
I don't think I have ever seen an interview or performer in a situation like this where their ego just doesn't shine through to some extent or another. It's refreshing to just see a real person with a passion for his craft who knows he's part of a machine that produces something beautiful that people love and admire him for. For someone with so much raw writing and singing talent, Devin is a unicorn, an enigma, and just one of two left from my original 4 on my bucket list to see if it kills me. Love that little slide at the end after his words of wisdom. Brings a tear and a smile. He just can't help being cool.
I love how he takes the music so seriously, and is an absolute master genius with it... But is also so tongue-in-cheek about the whole metal/prog universe. Playfully poking fun at the whole culture of metal, while also doing it justice by simply being amazing at it. Awesome.
Fantastic rig rundown. Love Devin. Also, applause to Framus. This is how you do a signature instrument. Truly a unique looking thing, and strongly associated with Townsend the moment you look at it.
That little moment: “We’re on the couch and watching how it’s made and it’s vaguely interesting but I have the iPad here and I’m watching YOU!” made me so uncommonly happy. God damn I love the hell out of Devy.
Oh man, if every Rock Star were like Devin Townsend... Best Rig Rundown ever! And I don't even like digital-drop-tuning-with-a-click-track stuff... till it's done by this dude and it's a million light years away from anyone else!
That was the best rundown I have ever seen! Devin Townsend is hilarious (a quintessential Canadian trait) and ridiculously talented as well. Being from my hometown makes it all that much better. Thanks PG!
It's because we're used to seeing caricatures like David Lee Roth, who is great in his own way with early VH, but when you watch him, you're left wondering how many personality issues he has because he seems like this weird facade that you can't see under to the 'actual' person inside. Many musicians with fame and ego are like this. Andy Timmons is another guy who is as lovable as Devin Townsend. Just a guy who loves what he does without an ego.
Devin actually used this exact Stombender to save the world, there was a gigantic storm and earthquakes and he played it very loud and he stopped it all and big trees have grown and it was all nice and beautiful again...
I was at that concert! It was amazing! Hands down! The best artist of our generation! I love watching his interviews. His mind is so brilliant, yet raw.
I wish this was longer. I play guitar, but really know fark all as far rigs go. But Devin is such a funny & entertaining guy i just had to watch. Kudos to Premier Guitar.
It's a rather well known "secret" for those of us that have been following him for... ...shit, decades. Damnit, I started listening to this guy nearly half my life ago.
You know when you learn something new and it's kinda cool?? The fact that other people already know what you just learned shouldn't take away from you being happy that you now know it.
I haven't seen a canadian guitarist with such a sense of humor since Alex Lifeson. Brilliantly funny guy, not fair that he's such a gifted musician too.
"Support me! 'cause prog metal doesn't pay" ahahahaha Devin
unfortunately that is the truth, and thats the Whole reason DTP is No Longer .. Sad
Prog is making a real comeback tbh
You could say that about death metal or any semi niche subgenre
John Collyer Aravena he should write pop. It pays great
How can you NOT love Devin?
Such an awesome guy.
true
the guy is such a ham you can't help but love him. you might think he's goofing off but he's just spicing up the truth with fun turns of phrases.
Eddy Guizonde it's refreshing to see a guy having a pile of fun rather than being serious. It's a good reason why he sticks out among everyone else. No rockstar facade. It's just him.
I don't like his music, I tried hard to get into it but I just don't really like it. But I looove watching him goof around, he's an amazing dude
There isn't a whole lot of his music I like, but he's still such a fantastic musician and he's such an awesome dude in so many other ways I tend to watch a lot of stuff like this regardless.
“You’re not gonna hit the bottom, but you’ll work the boards, bud”!
Holy shit, that’s funny.
I lost it when he said that. LOL
srsly almost blew beer out my nose
He is the greatest Canadian of all time.
Don't forget Leslie Nielson and Dan Aykroyd
Neil Young! ☝️
No, that would be Terry Fox
Getty Lee but alright
Paul Horn!
Devin, you're not a musician... you are a magician.
Thanks.
Well put 👍

One of the best people alive. Not only in Metal, not even in Music, but in the whole world.
Down to Earth, passionate, funny. Devin, you rock, sir.
I love how he takes the music so seriously, and is an absolute master genius with it...
But is also so tongue-in-cheek about the whole metal/prog universe. Playfully poking fun at the whole culture of metal, while also doing it justice by simply being amazing at it.
Awesome.
funniest rig rundown ever, thanks to Devin
Easily the most entertaining rundown I've ever seen hahaha
distortedstringabuse that's what you get with hevy devy!
Can you imagine Devin and Mikael Akerfeldt together on stage? It would be 50/50 music and the most ridiculuous comedy show ever, LOL.
Hadn't thought of it until reading your comment but now,I want to see that!
They're on an album together! Ayreon's The Human Equation is a great rock opera, both of them sing on it.
Insanely talented, humble, funny, awesomely creative, incredibly unique - I've run out of adjectives.... One of my favourite all time artists!
Fantastic rig rundown. Love Devin.
Also, applause to Framus. This is how you do a signature instrument. Truly a unique looking thing, and strongly associated with Townsend the moment you look at it.
10:30
- "What is this mystery switch right there?"
"Thàt...
is for the penis extender!"
I'M DYING OF LAUGHTER :D
That little moment: “We’re on the couch and watching how it’s made and it’s vaguely interesting but I have the iPad here and I’m watching YOU!” made me so uncommonly happy.
God damn I love the hell out of Devy.
he rules
He's the sort of dude that everyone would love to have as a best buddy.
Oh man, if every Rock Star were like Devin Townsend... Best Rig Rundown ever! And I don't even like digital-drop-tuning-with-a-click-track stuff... till it's done by this dude and it's a million light years away from anyone else!
Devin is so friggin weird and I love him so much for it
i.sky we all live him so much
Bahahahaha. Dev fuckin kills me. Such a great guy and bloody musical genius !!
met him years back after a show, what you see is what you get. One of the nicest and funniest "metal stars" one could meet
Bohlinger just had his fragile little mind blown by that Evertune.
Yeah the last time that happened, Johnny Hiland was showing him the RunBarr.
This is one of the best Rig Rundowns I have watched. He knows his gear, and I learned a ton
That was the best rundown I have ever seen! Devin Townsend is hilarious (a quintessential Canadian trait) and ridiculously talented as well. Being from my hometown makes it all that much better. Thanks PG!
There's such rich humanity to Devin. Hard to describe, but he seems so real.
It's because we're used to seeing caricatures like David Lee Roth, who is great in his own way with early VH, but when you watch him, you're left wondering how many personality issues he has because he seems like this weird facade that you can't see under to the 'actual' person inside. The more I learn about Devin, the more impressive he becomes to me.
He's quite a Strapping Young Lad!
T. Rumple eyyyy lmao
I could literally watch this guy talk and play everyday of the week! So entertaining!
Devin actually used this exact Stombender to save the world, there was a gigantic storm and earthquakes and he played it very loud
and he stopped it all and big trees have grown and it was all nice and beautiful again...
This man has more overall musical talent in one pinky and one vocal chord than all of the top charts
"What does that D and T represent?" LMAO
The interviewer doesn't know what to do with the technology and humor that Devin's delivering hahaha
It's always fun to hear Devin talk about his gear :)
suck it!
It's always fun to hear Devin talk. End of sentence right there.
Mauricio Wolf Wilwerth True, true.
I was at that concert! It was amazing! Hands down! The best artist of our generation! I love watching his interviews. His mind is so brilliant, yet raw.
Ok, “guitar is an effervescent void!” I just laughed so hard I’m crying!
The best combination of musician, comedian and Canadian! Love you Devin, such a huge influence and inspiration!
Can't beat Devin Townsend. Brilliant.
Thanks for your incomprehensible and unnecessary reply.
AkiraSpectrum fuck dude, wrong comment.
Hahaha
It was about Bollinger not knowing shit about the Evertune.
I hear you on that, just not sure why you replied to my comment to make this statement.
AkiraSpectrum clicked on the wrong one.
Shit happens.
Devin f***** killed it!!
The best rig rundown ever, and also the shortest!
Thanks John and PG.
The bit he plays in the end sounds so beautiful, peaceful!
I didnt know Devin Townsend before this Rundown. Such a funny guy. Now I have to watch some videos.
Devin Townsend is the best of us.
Huuummmmm..... I can't...... resist..........
GEARWHORE!!!
GEARWHORE.
Love this friggin' guy. Great sense of humor, humility and self-deprecation.
I love this man, what a king
This has to be the most entertaining Rig Rundown by far
Best outro yet !!
Devin seems like a great guy to hang out with. Such a brilliant musician, and an awesome dude outside of music.
This has to be the funniest yet most informative Rig Rundown I've watched so far.
10:32 _demonetized_
his tone is inspiring, amazing, and totally unique
I wish this was longer. I play guitar, but really know fark all as far rigs go. But Devin is such a funny & entertaining guy i just had to watch. Kudos to Premier Guitar.
I've just discovered this guy and he's even more awesome now after this.
This episode was the best!
Bohlinger is really on a roll here, easily his best RR, and Devin is well....Devin. Gotta love him. Excellent stuff!
I had no idea he's a dork! I love it.
It's a rather well known "secret" for those of us that have been following him for...
...shit, decades. Damnit, I started listening to this guy nearly half my life ago.
Dude, Townsend gave us a rock opera about an alien searching for the perfect cup of coffee. His dorkiness...was kinda out there for all to see.
You know when you learn something new and it's kinda cool?? The fact that other people already know what you just learned shouldn't take away from you being happy that you now know it.
zbqb84a I definitely agree with that. Welcome to the club of shared dorkiness!
The intro videos for DTP shows are excellent.
I love this man.
A genuinely fun watch, thanks to everyone involved.
These two should have a podcast, it would put me in such a good mood.
hands down... the funniest rundown I've ever seen....(and I've never heard of him)....thanks!
This is probably the most entertaining rig rundown ever! And funniest lol
I haven't seen a canadian guitarist with such a sense of humor since Alex Lifeson. Brilliantly funny guy, not fair that he's such a gifted musician too.
Best rig rundown ever!
By far the best video....
Getting his own rig rundown, living the dream!
He’s a big dork and I love it!!! I’m Sure the majority of the people watching it are dorks too. One big family, I am home!! ❤😂
Yeah man. This is the guy. So much knowledge, talent and humor. Simply great. Thanks for sharing. Greetz. Carsten
ahh devin, he's such a class act, and we haven't even got his guitar playing, singing or song writing yet
can't help but notice the Marshall Fridge
lol i thought it was an amp!
I love Devin!
Best RigRundown !
i swear i can listen to Devin 24/7
Best interview ever!!!!
I didn't enjoy any of his records for a few years now, but damn, he's always such a great, interesting dude.
Amazing.
Mesmerizing.
Mind blowing.
Just rock poses. Just rock poses, all night, man.
Guitar dorks can recognize each other from a distance of up to 50 meters.
Best rig rundown ever!!
One of the greatest music/content creators of the last 40 years..... no one even comes close
What an amazing sound
Devin is the true Music and Love shaman! seriously he gives the best reviews... and who the hell would not enjoy his awesome humor
This is a interview that I will definitely will watch again. Super !! ;)
That is probably the coolest guitar I’ve ever seen
This couldn't have come at a better time. I've been listening to nothing but Devy recently.
The greatest rundown ever
This was great, man, Devin has such an awesome sense of humour
I love how normally, one would get all amped up to be around Devin. But Devin gets amped to be on premier guitar. Very cool.
If the 'chinese one' still has the fishman pickups and the evertune, I'm buying it.
Thanks Devin. I smiled the whole time, ,,,it was cord-eal.
It's Devin.... Gotta love this guy.. Still a big kid
I love Devin and I love John. Great rundown!
Best episode ever
Reverb/Delay saturation and lengthy decay starting at around 0:42. Epic, even before an audience of a few.
Holy Hell. One of THE rigs i was hoping youd look at.
Simply Brilliant!
Your amazing Devy❤
23:43 UUGGHHH HEAVENLY
Bohlinger and Townsend. Awesome.
Best episode ever, which comes as NO surprise considering who the rig owner is.
Devin Townsend and Greg Koch in the same room would be awesome!
no, I think combining those two awesome forces might open a black hole...
I wonder if they know each other, i would love that black hole opening
I'd open that hole... Wait what?
badum tss...
That would be insane!
Devin is absolutely hysterical lol Great musician.
Omg devin is a legend! Hilarious, best rig rundown ever
Devin is a legend!
I love this guy!
I'd love to see a Rig Rundown on THE KILLERS, but I'm sure this has been posted a lot. I love these videos, PG!!!
So good!
