If you are new to LaunchBox one thing to possibly change during the game import wizard is to limit the number of images that will be downloaded per category. Example: set the image limit to 1 for box front, back, clear logo. Once the games are added, CTRL+a to select all games, right-click and select 'add media' (if I remember correctly off the top of my head). This wizard looks like the first one you used but this time select an image limit of 3 or more and then select Fanart Background, Background Gameplay, etc. This workflow is what I do to keep the drive space at a minimum.
What if I want specific images or I want to import custom ones? Do I just untick said categorys and hope that Launchbox picks it up automatically, if it has the same name?
I am going to use this for my ROG Ally. Do you recommend downloading all of the emulators, launchbox and ROM onto the eternal storage or the micro SD I plan on using?
I want to use this frontend in an arcade cabinet that is powered by a pc running win xp using mame only. Can i configure my joystick and buttons to navigate launchbox once it is setup?
Thanks! Allthough I have a stupid? Question. Why would i have a whole other install like LB IS i can just use dolohin director cus retroarch IS not working properly so i feel IS like having a fridge for my fridge 😅
I havent had launch box installed since a few versions ago and am disturbed that windows defender is blocking it,not only for me,but it seems hundreds of others, and there really has not been a very satisfying answer for this matter It has got me feeling maybe stick with retroarch, tho its not as pretty ,but it gets no red flags Is there a more satisfying official statement on this matter? PS does anyone else find it odd thatyou cant just download the app without giving your email? Now what? Am i going to get unwanted endless emails? Why do they need emails for an app that should just be DL from their page? Thanks
For some strange reason, Launchbox refuses to download on my mini PC. It's always really slow then crashes. I tried copying it over from a different computer, but it kept having technical problems and I have no idea why, as there was no guide or walkthrough to what I was experiencing on my computer. I am on the verge of giving up and trying something else, unless someone is able to identify what I'm doing wrong. I strongly believe it is an issue on my computer's end, possibly due to my Windows 11 security setup, but I don't know how to work around it.
I still don't really understand what it is, it looks cool and all but like is it like an everything emulator or does it just hold the data for the emulators?
Isn't RetroArch also using Dolphin as the core? So the automatic setup would be the same as the manual setup, with the added benefit being that the core should auto-update when newer versions come out. Am I right about this or am I mistaken?
i can't even get lousy RetroArch to download so i don't know. Why is emulation so easy on a crappy Chinese handheld so easy; yet so impossible on Windows?
@@brettpeake1879 On the contrary, emulation on the PC is FAR from impossible. I've had good results on PC for years, despite not being a tech expert. It's a pretty straightforward process, really....provided you have reasonable computer knowledge, and aren't afraid to do some research if things don't go according to plan.

LaunchBox has turned into a joke. It's now a bloated mess that tries to hold the hands of ultra-noob PC gamers and do everything for them and ends up creating a big, ugly mess. I fired up a new install hoping to set up some emulators and it automatically imported all of my Steam games (most of which I don't even want to play any more) and it started downloading all of the media and metadata for them and the cancel button was unresponsive. Ridiculous.

@esvinbarrios999 the process was easy on the ally? I want to install lunch box in my asus ally but Im so noob for this lol
@@romeo5612 the process will be the exact same as this video. It's too easy
Same.
Guys get Emudeck instead, it's so much better than launchbox.
Thanks great video not too fast and explaining what I need to do you’ve got a new subscriber.
I have not been in the Emulator scene in like 6 years so gonna work on a cheap emulator setup and found this video. Thx
Great video, cheers!

BigBox is awesome!!! Perfect if you have a custom arcade or a HTPC. (better off buying the lifetime package)
Yes true
Bigbox is what we run at Mar-A-Lago arcade. 😉
Thanks.

What’s the best game launcher
Playnite or Launchbox
I’m trying to decide

i really need help here there no sound coming from the lunchbox been trying config retroarch bunch of time in this but no sound comes up
so how do u add games to the group u already have there. like if i have p4 set up, how do u add games to that liberty
Can you do a video for the rog ally?
Really thanks for this very nice video, did somebody have a list of the best emulator for which platforms game emulation??
Did you find an answer to this?
To easy ❤
Does it use my settings i made from dolphin so I do not have to do it again.
can you do a beginners guide for playing neogeo cd games and pc engine cd games and saturn games.
I have done Saturn, but I will get to the rest
Do have to do any configuration with it, or do it use the configuration on the emulator that you install,
All LaunchBox does is point to executable (exe) file of the standalone emulator. You still do the configs within the emulator itself.
Doesn't work! I keep getting an 'error' message when i try to download retro arch!

How to save games using lunchbox?

Brings all your emulators and roms in to one place. Makes everything look pretty with box art as well

You can say it's like Steam but for ROMs in the sense that Steam isn't the game, but just launches games.
the setup file wont open. i dont know why. Please help meeee
How do u get the rom for Xbox games no one has shared this info I would like to know how people are getting the games
I don't know either.. can't find a comment for this yet

How To Get Driver 2?
Is lunchbox an emulator can I use it to play the games or do I have to download something separate? It’s very confusing.
You have to download emulators separately. Then add your games and emulators in to Launchbox
