when you press keys on the mobile console it send a signal trough a data cale to a central computer to magnets which move the mechanical action electronically
I agree with the underlying comment. It is especially difficult to see if she is playing the pedal detached or legato and with the right or left foot when the video is showing the ceiling. These videos can be used for teaching if properly done. This one is not.
Yes, it needs more pace and an acoustic to give the piece justice. No criticism of Diane Bish's playing of course which is incomparable. Always remember her playing the Bach D Minor Toccata and Fugue with my all time hero, Simon Preston!!
Good morning Diane, Thanks for your personal performance who is so different from the partition of Jehan Alain...I didn't appreciate the fact of that the chords weren't related but cutted...and the choice of your instrumental doesn't sound nice to my ears..Just a part, at the end was so nice.Bye for now..Faithfully Yours, Olivier
This performance doesn't do anything for me. She doesn't give some of the phrases time to "breathe" (esp. in the first third or so). And the camera work is atrocious. When we get a VIDEO of a performer, we want to see the PERFORMER, not bits and pieces of the hall or the casework. Ugh.
I am just saying this because it's true. the people are being so rude to Diane don't know the background. She had to do the songs halftime given on this night there were multiple performers i think. She only had less than 32 minutes on state to play all her songs. Don't bash on her for roy Thompson rules that night. RUDE!! i Love you Diane keep making great music!! and for the haters i would genuinely like you to try and play as fast as her. Your just mad because you ain't go no rhythm
The bane of this musical generation is speed, which is apparently a grandiose mask for the inability to phrase anything with any meaning or see a bigger picture. This is one more nail in the coffin of music and the pipe organ
+Simon Osen It's utter rubbish. Fast, frenzy and prayer leading to death was different in 1937, before von Karajan came along. If you can't phrase, this is how you perform....
I've just finished surveying half a dozen "performances" of this beautiful piece. Every one of them is rushed, overly staccato, unfeeling, robotically mechanical and LIFELESS.(Virgil fox was the worst I believe). Can you tell me if ANYONE plays this with the indescribable depth of feeling and personal passion that should be there. I'd love to hear this as it ought to be played. Thanks.
The central issue revolve around the instant frenzy. There is no statement of prayer building to the terror. This performance is on a par with Iron Butterfly's "In a Gada Davida"
Bob is there a rendition of the song which you would select if you had the select the one you liked the most, but it was also the one you could select with the most tempo? Curios. Have a good weekend.
Just not a fan of Diane Bish. Her registration, pitch, tempo (Widor in particular); like sheep to the slaughter. No tonal colours, texture, no imaginative playing. Just Noise. Sorry, not a fan. Use the Organ to make music!
As with Virgil Fox Diane Bish's sadly infantile, egotistical theatrics so often detracted from the music and the performance, not the least of which was the outrageous self-aggrandizing costuming.
This is exceptionally good - I just miss the cathedral acoustic!
Diane have studyed in Paris with Marie Claire Alain
4:48...amazing pedal technique
Pauvre Jehan Alain.... Martyrisé une seconde fois !

Horrible rendition. This woman should change careers! Please stop destroying these great works composed by such prodigious artists!
I like it
She all over the place in it. Freely flowing gothic the soul crying out to God. Lord have mercy
This is Halloween 🎃
I like this piece of music. But you do miss the cathedral or church acoustics. Not a problem. Good performance though. WOW last chord brilliant.

+Bob Drayer I like your crusade against the tempo of reaching for God

Poor Jehan Alain... hope he will never hear this... This woman should play in cinema hall and not detroy french music...

yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

Like Liberace, I'm sure she's crying all the way to the bank over your criticism.
wonderful performance
