    In live concert, Diane plays the four-manual, 73-stop, Roy Thomson Hall organ which was built by Gabriel Kney and his staff, of London (Ontario), Canada. With 5,207 pipes, it is one of the largest tracker organs (gallery console) built in North America. After 20,000 hours of labor, the organ was completed for the Gala opening of Roy Thomson Hall on September 13, 1982. The organ has two consoles: The gallery console (tracker action) and a detached electro-pneumatic action stage console.

    Probably the best performance I've heard of Diane Bish on RUclips thus far. I don't like all of them but this was brilliant!

    Tournemire ... always reaching out to touch God's hand. What a great composer and the piece is played with the appropriate passion by Ms. Bish.

    Diane Bish, you are such an inspiration!!! I wish it was far more common for organists to actually play in church as a Christian ministry like you do...it is so rare these days:( I enjoy your posts and hope you can further inspire organists to allow the Holy Spirit to anoint their playing as you so well do!

    Very nice, odd that it has a attached tracker console and a separate electric console (I wonder how that works exactly...)

    Actually that's pretty common in concert hall instruments.

    Ugly console (especially the color) beautifull playing, beautifull sound!

      It may be ugly, but it's practical. The console was designed in cooperation with TSO conductor Sir Andrew Davis. He's also an accomplished organist and will often conduct the orchestra while seated at the console.

    You can play the notes but this lacks so much feeling.

    It is NOT a Tracker Action organ.

    • @ledgema7686
      @ledgema7686 3 года назад

      Yes it is! It's both mechanical and electric action. The attached console is mechanical. The one that Diane is playing on is electric.

    Knew that organ was made in the 80's I could tell by the sound and it was silver sounds old school I don't like the sound of that organ but I liked the playing

      The acoustics of the hall were not the greatest back then. There've been improvements over the years and the organ sounds much better. Remember that RUclips doesn't do justice with audio on videos due to compression.

    Rushed. Not botched, but rushed for suren It is worth listening to Tournemire himself playing his own improvisation to understand the true spirit of his piece. Sorry, I don't like it.

      agree with you...rushed through the piece as if there was no tomorrow

      Right, rushed through it at the end. And what is up with the piano like attack the organ has- a bit in-organ like.
