I found this cool stuff in a can that is supposed to be better than powder coating. Check out my video and tell me what you think. You can grab it on Amazon here: amzn.to/2GiF4iY Btw I used 1 can only for this Fuel tank skid
That stuff is pretty awesome it has alot of corrosion resistancy without using that nasty blotchy cold galvanizing spray. Plus it weldable. Used to sell it to mills, mines and food processing plants where it's an area of repetitive repairs, for casings, shaft collars, exposed gears...etc. Crap I forget about this stuff picking up a can tomorrow, thanks man 😀
So much ignorance in the comments, this stuff is the industry standard for structural steel, grain silos and USDA food grade storage containers. When PROPERLY applied, the epoxy and polyurethane coatings from steel it provide over 20 years corrosion protection. This is also used in the marine industry for superior salt corrosion protection. The independent testing done by the US coast guard showed a minimum of 5 years corrosion protection in a controlled environment of 15% salt submersion. The ocean isn't even 15% salt.
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of getting a grand vitara as a winter beater and was looking for cheap alternatives to powder coating for control arms and other under vehicle parts and this looks to fit the bill
Thanks for watching. From all the things I've read it'll hold up very well. Professionals are using this stuff. I did a lot of research because this stuff isn't cheap vs rattle can
It's used on structural steel, grain silos, USDA food grade storage containers. This shit has been on our semi truck frames for years and it's basically impervious to corrosion.
Great video Rob! LMAO I was laughing when you were saying that I hope you can hear me and at the same time you was shaking the can! lol I was like, maybe can hear you better after you stop shaking the can! lol
Great video I noticed you had two spray cans, one saying black and othe grey. Stupid question does the grey, come out as a gray color when applied? As here in Canada I was not able to get the black option. Thanks again
Think this product would hold up on some dirt bike wheels? I hate looking at my silver wheels on my old Kawasaki but don’t feel like dropping $500 on wheels and spokes
It's used for sand buggies and trucks and holds very well. Personally I sprayed some rusty coil springs on my front coilovers and they're held up for months. You can see them in my walk around vid. They look the same now ruclips.net/video/6kA4C14Qoa4/видео.html
Are you on drugs? This shit is the industry standard for structural steel, grain silos and USDA food grade storage containers. Gtfo with por15 is more durable than this, which contains micro stainless flakes. Hundreds of vids showing por15 peeling off and shit tons of rust underneath
been better off using rhino. Stainless steel paint just because it's got particles in there does not mean or Justified calling it stainless steel and asking high prices for it
You are clueless, this stuff is the industry standard for structural steel, grain silos and USDA food grade storage containers. Gtfo with trash rhino liner.

Rob Daman why don’t you just leave skid plates raw steal. Like the front ones and body ones. Why does everyone always powder coat skid plates
It will rust then corrode away

Ya I totally forgot it's food safe too.
Thanks for commenting 👍

Glad I could help
I wonder how it will hold up. powder coating is really durable. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.

lol. it was a test.
thanks for watching. 👍
Your spray skills are a little rough, too fast and all over the place, but thank you for the video 👍🏻
Bro, are you trying to use the Force on us?!? 00:01 - 00:04?🤔
You don't need to see his identification
Can you use this over an already powder coated metal surface?
Yes ruclips.net/video/TWyrTTEzrpM/видео.html
Aww man I gotta get some of this paint!
it's legit stuff
Great video

they're both black cans. the matte sheen looks gray.
this stuff is legit btw my front coil springs haven't chipped
You think I can use this to paint running boards on my tacoma?

Like your old school Toyota pin on your hat.
What is the name of that skid plate? I like it
That is fuel tank skid.
Pilfreybilt brand which is no longer around.
@@RobDaman wow thwy are gone? They had great products. I gues rci now. Lol
Do you think this can be applied on plastic like fender flares? Or some fiber glass fenders?
On steel-it faq they say no
How is the paint holding up now almost 2 years on?
I did an update a while back and still good today
ruclips.net/video/TWyrTTEzrpM/видео.html
Hey man how is this paint job holding up?
solid. as did doing springs ruclips.net/video/TWyrTTEzrpM/видео.html
What grit did you use for the sanding prep? 32?
I don't recall but nothing too aggressive. Cleaning off the oils is more important. The scuffing helps
It looks like the mask I got from Harbor freight you get pretty high because it does not work
Does it feel like metal?
No. It's smooth like powder coat as it's food safe grade spray 👍
💸💸💸🤔 are you sure there’s no GOLD in it? 😝
🤷♂️🤷♂️
Does it not require primer?
It does but only for the epoxy and polyurethane coatings in the big cans
How’s it holding up?
Great. I coated some rusty Kings springs and they're holding up fine too. Had em at SEMA
30 bucks a can?!
It is not and never will be advertised as a substitute for powder coat. Where did you get that information?
From Steel-It themselves
They even used this video 😉
steel-it.com/blogs/info/your-best-alternative-to-powder-coating-for-metals
Can I use this paint over bondo
don't see why not. proper prep should handle it.
No you can not. Read the friggin FAQ section on their website. Metal only.
use POR15, and POR prep... similar price, but way more durable..
scott17818 Rustoleum lasts longer than POR. Overpriced junk.
tclott316 POR is like 50’s technology
Are you on drugs? This shit is the industry standard for structural steel, grain silos and USDA food grade storage containers. Gtfo with por15 is more durable than this, which contains micro stainless flakes. Hundreds of vids showing por15 peeling off and shit tons of rust underneath
can it be used on headers?
good question. I don't think it's designed for those higher temps.
The spray can is up to 200 degrees, 350 degrees for the epoxy version
