    My favorite base so far is the camp office. Good storage, a lot of space for guts and skins to cure, it's very close to the fishing huts for food, and I have a corpse upstairs who is my room mate. I call him Bob.

    My favorite base is Town Hall in PV (I play on Voyager and sometimes Stalker). It has 6 cooking spot stove, lots of storage locations (one of them is 200 kg wardrobe) so I can put different stuff in different storage. But my favorite part about it that even if I come back there during night time I don't need to use any light source to get from entrance to bed on the floor. There is a cave nearby where I can sleep to get rid of the condition when you can't sleep inside a house, few rabbit spots, lots of deers around and one of the biggest birch bark spawning areas in the game nearby. Bear and moose may also spawn there, and if they won't there are many other locations where they can spawn in PV. Fishing spot is somewhat far but it's ok - I rarely use it. The only thing that this base spot is missing to be absolutely perfect for me is a crafting table. It's not far in the Barn but there are wolves around, or I can go to the safe one in Farmhouse but it's a little bit far away. Overall PV is my favorite location in the game so it's a win-win for me :)

I haven't played on interloper yet, I am playing on Voyager to get the feel for the game. I am just over day 100 on my first run-through and am having a blast! My favorite base is the Mountainer's Hut on Timberwolf Mountain! It's prefect for a chill playthrough style like mine, fishing hunt right outside, along with tons of cattails for an early headstart on food. Bunny and deerspawns right outside, so I get to see them walking around when the sun comes up and it's gorgeous. Tons of wolves, a beer, a moose I occasionally see, and about 3 good caves in walking distance. There are also plan containors that you need a hacksaw for that are full of supplies. The hut itself is very nice with two beds, floor storage, work bench, and a beautiful fire place. There's a giant hole in the roof but as long as you keep a fire going during a blizzard you're fine. I've been living here for 76 days now and I am very content to just stay here indefinitely with occasionally going to Pleasant valley and Ash canone for more manmade supplies. :)

My favorite region is Coastal Highway but it's very poor regarding the locations that can be made bases. I have a secondary base there in the coastal house (the green one), but it's very dark and I cannot be inside without a lightsorce which makes it difficult to manage stuff.
    I only make main bases in areas where I can fish.
    And I only choose a bulding as a base if it doesn't have a corpse inside. In my first gameplay the camp office had a corpse that made me uncomfortable so I had my base in the Trapper's Cabin. Now in my second run, the corpse didn't spawn there so I'm good.

    I think that Hinterland during a next big update should add a "Level 6" to at least some of the skills. For mending it should be that once you repair something to 100% it will stay at 100% until it is damaged either in a fall or during an animal attack. For the Archery Skill, you should be able to make a Sling Shot and launch stones to kill rabbits and bullets to scare wolves. For Fire Starting, 2 stick should be enough to start a fire; just rub them together if you have the fire pit set up already. What do you guys think?

    • @shadowdeslaar
      @shadowdeslaar 2 года назад +26

      There’s a spot in mountain town, between the church and the farmstead where you can become glitched into the snow hills. Just ended my 50 day stalker, still pretty sour about it. One thing Hinterland should do is ad in a stuck fix of some sort, maybe you could check it as an option in the settings then save and quit and when you respawn it could give you five meters of free walking. Yeah it could probably be manipulated and bugged, but it would be hard to break the meta of the game if you had to save and reload. And hell, you’d still have to be able to use a bedroll to save which I don’t know if I even had one on me. Sorry for rambling, I just know that it’s so frustrating to be stuck “dead” when you’re at full condition and know exactly where you are and what you wanted to accomplish.

In short, I almost died from wolf+moose on Day 250, timberwolves around Day 411, surprise wolf Day 424, blizzard and rope around Day 650 and ice+surprise wolf Day 970. Probably others. If you watch my 500 Days video and 1000 days video, you can see most of the near deaths :)

    I've been playing for a bit and have tried thinking of a way that a run could be indefinite. I haven't thought of a way yet. Eventually the only thing you to be able to do is fish but eventually you'll run out of scrap metal to make hooks. Do other resources respawn at all? Like saplings and stuff? I know animals respawn but if nothing else does then you'll run out of ways to kill them for food. Not saying it's not possible just been thinking about it.

    • @Zaknafein
      @Zaknafein  2 года назад +1

      Runs can go infinite. I am working on a video about it now. Out later this month or the next.

    • @whyareusobad3528
      @whyareusobad3528 Год назад

      The key to a a run lasting forever is beach combing
      Things wash up on shore after every blizzard IIRC you can get clothes arrows saplings tools ammo
      Meds food etc.
      Sometimes a boat can wash ashore with arrows and axes
      Or flare guns
      Also lockers and trunks can wash ashore
      I like to spawn in coastal highway get a full outfit made from as much animal poets as I can and a good stockpile of 20 or so arrows and tools then adventure out
      I always harvest stuff by hand or use a heavy hammer (hammer can be repaired with wood that also washes on shore )
      Scrap metal and harvestable things also was up on shore so you can use that
      And if you get bored of fishing you can go hunting since saplings can wash up on the shore
      Also just an FYI
      Saplings rose hips and lichen do not respawn
      The only things that respawn are branches tree limbs sticks stones and birch bark
      You can find all of these things on the shore though when they wash up

    Can you use the lantern to light up stoves and campfires? I figure fire and bandages from cloths would be the first expended resource that would cause your death. I guess you can live past your last matchstick if you’ve cooked a ton of meat and boiled also a lot of water, but ultimately you’re dead because you ran out of fire. But the you’ll be doomed when your last lantern can’t be repaired from depleted metal scrap. And finally I figure running out of cloth, hence bandages, will get you killed from bleeding out open wound eventually…

    Wow. I thought that the maximum amount of days possible to survive is about 2 000, but when i saw all of these cured saplings i understood that it's about 3 000 or even more, bcs. the fire is infinite (mag. glass + sticks), water and food is infinite too, the outlayer clothes are made of animals and pretty much infinite too. They only finite thing is scrap and cloth, so the biggest problem will be wildlife encounters and tool management. (Kinda sad that moss bandage doesn't treats bleeding. it would be great)
    I'm always trying to set the base at camp office, bcs. it's pretty much the best due to the resources around - a lot of wood, deer, fish and rabbits with not such a huge threat of encountering wolves. But if the camp office wasn't existing i would choose the milton town, bcs. it has pretty much of the resources needed for survival, but there's always a chance to encounter a wolf when running from church to the home or from the home to the gas station. Also, Milton is pretty good because there are a lot of cars and houses to store loot inside.

    Hold it. You don't know of the windproof spot up against the world wall?
    Leave Trapper's.
    turn left.
    Go to the world wall.
    Turn Right.
    Go until you look up and there is a fallen tree HIGH above you.
    There should be a 'V' spot up against the world wall where you can place a fire. Careful. There is exactly ONE pixel you can put the fire on.
    The spot is wind proof EXCEPT, if you go in an out of transition zone while the wind is blowing hard enough to put out the fire
    You can put a bedroll on the ice shelf to the left of the fire, if you are facing the world wall.
    You can climb up on the shelf above the fire by climbing to the left then jogging back to the right.
    From the shelf, if you crouch, you can reach the fire and the bedroll.
    I will store up all my wood and crap until cabin fever hits, then go out there and camp in the open for a few days while making fifty liters of water and cooking everything all at once.
