- There is a lot of hidden loot scattered around Great Bear Island. Some of it is pretty well hidden in crates, corners or areas you didn't think you could access. Here is a showcase of 10 areas with either really good loot or with well hidden loot. Check them out!

2023 UPDATE:
These areas are still valid, hidden loot places even with the new loot changes. You might find different loot in some of them, though, and please note the following:
- Tip #6 The loot crate can be empty.
- Tip #8 The mag lens may not be there, but can still spawn.
- Tip #9 The stim may not be there.
I thought I went crazy searching for the mag lens
I just found a revolver in that spot in Hibernia
The loot in the hidden loot spots are hidden, loot that looks new may be loot that's old loot and may loot be old and loot unhidden loot is still loot
Zak, you can also find a Distress Pistol. I’m not sure if it is on Interloper. 3:25

Update for everyone : in the carter hydro dam, the first pipe shown in the video is now one of the 4 possible spawn points for vaughn's rifle !
Hidden loot, somewhat: after four years of playing, I just recently learned that the metal containers in TWM, those big blue metal things you need to break open with the hacksaw, well both doors have loot behind! I thought you only opened them once and it opened both doors so-to-speak, but actually both doors have loot!

The AC stim and BI hidden room actually made me gasp. My loper file almost died in AC and my Voyager file spent 2 weeks eating Timberwolves while waiting for an aurora. These two are game changers for me!
I will definitely check out the bear coat spawn when i journey to AC
Also in Hibernia Processing, next to a bag there's another area, you need to break down a metal shelf with a hacksaw and see a green metal box.
I have thousands of hours into TLD but learned a few things from this video. Thanks Zak!

airplane containers: make sure your hacksaw has enough condition left to saw them open...if it breaks midway, the lock on the container will forever be inaccessible and you`ll never get to see what is inside...
totally missed that corpse in the tailsection however
I also had loot under the other boxes in the middle on voyageur, it`s always a good idea to smash them boxes if you have the means...e.g. in Mountain Town, down by the old hermit cabin, there´s another one... it usually gives you a flare, matches and two accelerants iirc.
what about the safe in the canery - can be easily missed imho...hidden away in one of the corners
Now that pancakes have been added to the game, those maple syrups are even better then ever. each batch of pancakes gives as many calories as just guzzling down the syrup, except you only use 0.5 kg of syrup per batch (and some flour or acorn grounds of course).
I was reaching the end of the video thinking "nice video, but I've found all those places already", but then you shocked me with the hidden room in the Cannery! I've been playing for years and thought all those doors were just for show... Thank you, sir!
That's the best place to sleep when you're waiting for an aurora or sorting your gear out before the obstacle course. Because it's out of the way of the main patrol routes of the pack of timberwolves that spawn on the cannery grounds, giving you some breathing room between you and the timbers.
- Same as the salted crackers in the cannery trailer, there's a can of dog food under the pier on the south side of the hibernia which I see very often there.
- there are metal pipes outside in the hibernia area, two have rifle ammunition, one pipe is horizontally on the ground, the other is at an angle.
- on the lookout tower on the bleak inlet, go up the stairs and at the very top there are matches and small items on the wooden frame of the tower.
- the hatchet stuck in the tree trunk are on the coastal hightway on the sort log near the trailer, and on the bleak inlet behind the hut in the northeast.
- in huts of the type near mystery lake, bars are often placed under the armchairs
As you said yourself, there are a lot of such items, but ammunition and hatchet stuck in a tree trunk is a good loot
These secret stashes have actually saved my life in some runs, when I’m having trouble even keeping a fire running and I’m desperately breaking everything for resources. Then all of the sudden I find a nice stash of goodies, it’s a lifesaver.
If you go to the grey mother's house in Milton Town, sometimes you can find her rifle that she had in the story mode. But its not guaranteed
Also in the maintenance yard as you head to the top 3 crates, stop and break the crate by the table with the small toolbox, inside are beans...usually a can or two.
Didn’t know about the bleak inlet room
Thank you so much! I the info about magnifier lens was so useful to me. No wonder why I didn't find any matches in Mystery lake at the start.
In pleasant valley, at the crashed plane you can get inside to the upper level right behind the cabin door and there is usually some good high end loot on the floor and a container or two too loot
I had found most of these but that room in bleak inlet was a surprise. Admittedly I was more concerned about the wolf pack and not getting cornered but still. Well done.
That room's actually the best place to sleep if you need a nap before attempting the obstacle course, because it's around the corner from where the pack of wolves usually patrols. You can enter and leave where you're out of sight, out of mind of any timbers still standing after you get into that area. Also great spot for processing your timberwolf kills as there's a burn barrel inside that has 2 windproof cooking spots.
I've also found the lense under the left bunk bed in the camp office as well. Though it was only once it's become a 3rd place I check for it when passing through ML.
Happened to me as well just lern't that it can spawn there at lower difficultys
When I see videos for secrets in a game I've been playing, I often have found most if not all of them. For this video, I only knew about the ones outside Carter Dam! So thanks for surprising me. I agree; I often miss things the first time I walk through an area, then I'll pass through later that day, or the next day and suddenly spot it.
Best hidden item in the game: the farmhouse key!
Lame mechanic IMO. Only punishes people who happen to arriveat the farm in really poor condition... it can only be what, 3 places?
VS there being othed doors you can force open with a prybar.
This is just a normal farmhouse door, you're telling me mack/astrid can carry 45+kg and fight off a wolf / bear / climb ropes, but cant kick a front door in?

The back room at the cannery is the most obvious and I'm suprised many people missed it. However there are two trunks below the pier that you didn't mention. They are under the "crane room" if i recall things right. Found them on my last play and missed them on earlier visits. That crane should be possible to lower to make a shortcut during Aurora in my opinion.
With the maglens in mystery lake it can spawn underneath the bed oposite the crate spawn. Just not in interloper.
3:35 a bedroll sometimes spawns in this location even in interloper. You can also break the crates down by hand.
Church pianos can sometimes have a "hidden compartment", usually with painkillers inside.
Similarly, overturned boats can sometimes have "loose boards" with random loot inside.
Those are mementos, added later
@@Zaknafein So it seems. The devs don't make it very explicit. You may find the notes and a real-life year later randomly find the cache when looting. 😄

Hibernia processing is stacked! Another one I just found - I broke down the table crashed through the office wall on the second floor, and was able to crawl out onto a catwalk and up onto a ledge, which led to a corpse, a full torch, and a backpack. New pinnacle peaches in the bag which is weird because everything else I've found lately has been ruined. Day 60 on my first comfortable interloper run, currently halfway through a moose.

7:40 that pipe at Carter's was exactly the location where I found Vaughn's rifle after the backup for the first time.

I can do that, but these are the biggest ones in my opinion. Another 10 will mostly be of minor loot. I will consider making one.

This is great info, there must be a lot more locations where you can reveal hidden places for items. This is just scratching the surface especially with new updates

I feel like everyone is
Hybernia hidden(?) loot addendium: it's more not straight accessible loot than really hidden: when you are standing in front of crates with hidden backpack just on the right side of those behind the wall game might spawn metal box which if you want to access you must saw off some metal stuff (you can get this from two sides). About the Summit: I belive that crate with rope & scrap is not the same (of mutually exclusive if you like) with a crate with accelerant, you can have both, not sure thou if it's 100% cases, pretty sure I've found both many times. About the metal pipes you've mentioned in Winding River behind the Dam, there might be are also some containers in ones which are blocked by wood palettes and you have to break them to access it, also check pipes next to Hybernia, usually not much there and of course depending on difficulty, ranging from some reclaimed wood, cloth to some rifle ammunition.
You can. I've also opened up a crate of peaches on many occasions. When I get the Pinnacle Peaches on the Pinnacle of the mountain, it's often as many as 4-6 cans of them. Can be useful if you've got a lot of loot to haul down to cook one of the new recipes out of them to aid in your descent. Some of the items like meat pies of various sorts will give you a temporary 3kg boost of carry weight. Provided you have the raw meat, flour and frying pan needed to cook them.

I'm kind of amazed that, as a player who has issue even on Stalker difficulty sometimes, I knew about over half of these things. The BI room especially is one that has saved many runs from Timberwolves and the like.
I wonder how the secret locations have changed after the recent DLC update where they have completely redone the loot tables and their spawn locations.
I think most of these secret spots will stay the same but maybe they even added some new ones.

Hey Zak, Even though I knew most of these I still really enjoyed your presentation. If I may be so bold, Going back to Hibernia Processing in DP, When you go out the back of the building, There is often loot inside the big pipes stacked there. Not Guaranteed, but often enough that I always look. Great video and thanks again.

This game was one I found by random and when I did it changed my perspective on A LOT. Can't thank the developers enough for this on going masterpiece and I am forever grateful for the times it got me through.. 10/10 game 🎮 👌🏾 through and through

There is also a somehow hidden distress pistol kit in bleak inlet at the top of the fallen lighthouse.
You have to crouch through the ruins to get it.
Not sure if it exists on interloper, but I definitley found it on stalker once.
(And it will probably be gone with the update on Monday, because they are refreshing the loot tables)
I highly advise those pipes at 7:28 I found Vaughn rifle inside those despite looking through over 4 zones (including the whole of ML) and finding absolutely 0 Rifles, my most unlucky run ever.

For the Hibernia Processing backpack secret, behind the crates, I've found a rifle back there, along with a corpse.
Not sure if that can still happen, but it might be worth looking into.

Missed the maintenance garage in broken railroad. Breaking the boxes open yields cans of food as well as gauntlets and MRE
Yeah I didnt mention them as they were less important than stims, and on loper they can all be empty (except one that has pork and beans)

does anyone have any tips for prolonging the fun of a single run once you have kind of established yourself? I love the game, but I feel like my fun drops off severely once I am past the point that death is imminent. I also just struggle with how low the drop rate is on the hardest difficulty. I want to play the hardest difficulty because I think the game is more fun that way in terms of threat level, but it can be so boring to me to make a multi-region trek only to arrive at some desired location and find like 2 useful items. I really want to love the game long term, but it feels a bit empty to me after the early struggle
Start a custom run then, with stalker loot and interloper difficulty.

I recently found a hacksaw in Forlorn Muskeg that was all the way IN a tree stump except for… I dunno, the hilt? Just the barest hint of handle. Totally surrounded and embedded. I saw the color and thought, “that looks too small to be any mushroom,” but I’ve not played much since the update, and THERE before my eyes, was a hacksaw! 143 days in and no hacksaw, so I was PSYCHED!
Some I knew, some not, thanx bro ! ...but there are actually 3 locations in camp office where the lens can be found. It sometimes lays on the floor, right side of the file cabinets, the corner under the wooden shelves
There are actually 4 :) But now they changed it so it is obsolete, nevertheless
The mag lens has another spawn point in the office, on the left side you have the archive, to the right is the counter, it can spawn on the floor under that counter.
I found a mag lens in the camp office in mystery lake, it was under the stairs with the wheels

If you are playing on voyager, then there isn't a guaranteed hammer spawn location, except signal fire in HRV. But, on that difficulty you will find it randomly many places. Remember to check all of the red tool boxes, as they can contain it too. On voyager you can also find the by forges. Check several regions until you find one.

I almost always find one in lower lever utility room of Hibernia plant near bottom of staircase. There is a safe in opposite corner of room with good loot.

I will let people know if they didnt know this, that safe at Spencer's farm has given me the Mukluks that in the description says they mimick hunter boots. I've found this on pilgrim and Voyager. idk about interloper though since I havent played interloper in about 2 years. just letting people know.

Yesterday traveled to Ash Canyon (from base in Mountain Town) just for the T. Backpack and Crampons, men, surely is whort knowing it, that bear coat is hellass heavy 😂🐻
Up where that crate is on BR I've found loot in the other 2 crates as well on stalker.
The only one I didn't know was the body on T.M.
Once in the bathroom of the hunting lodge I found an item on the window ledge behind a curtain. I can't recall what I found though.

I only knew of two of these locations and i have been pkayinf this game since 2016
So much that I missed!
missed some hidden loot in hibernia there is a box behind the locker laying on the floor
and in maintenance yard another box always had pork and beans
after i been playing this game for a while.. I find that i dont really need all the loot to survive. Usually it boils down to bow and arrows, firewood, hides and meat.
NB: Didnt know about the crackers in the bin :D

You gotta love the trolling from the devs here. In a game where ressources are sparse, the incentive to rush and keep moving is huge, but take one second to look at a random cliff, and you might find an emergency stim that'll save your life 😂
I do remember finding the bear coat out of sheer luck, but never knew it was by design. Damn.
