- In part 2 of REmake Secrets from the Guidebook we'll be reading the character profiles from the Biohazard Kaitai Shinsho. I'll also be covering the equipment descriptions.

If I remember from the original game’s instructions manual, Enrico resented being assigned to Bravo Team because he had wanted to be on Alpha Team. He resented some of the members of Alpha Team who he felt didn’t deserve to be on the team. Chris was name-dropped during this blurb, which I think foreshadowed why Enrico thought Chris was the traitor, because he already disliked Chris.
Interesting I hadn't read that before! I just checked one and it said he felt threatened that Chris or Barry might replace him as Wesker's number 2, but maybe the blurb you're talking about came from one of the many versions of RE1. That's cool I'll keep an eye out for that, thanks for sharing
@@raccooncitycinema No problem. It may have been some early installment weirdness though, as Enrico has been revealed to have had a good working relationship with Barry. But I do think he suspected Chris of being the traitor because of his own personal bias.

I like how the S.D. Perry novels portray Jill as the daughter of a well-known thief and cat burglar who is currently serving prison time. That explains her lock-picking skills and ability to figure out puzzles. It makes a lot more sense as women are strictly forbidden from being members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force. She sets off the ceiling trap and is rescued by Barry. She doesn't go into the Residence but enters the tunnels, finding the corpses of dead Spinners, which freak her out. She encounters a Hunter and kills it. In the lab, she faces the Chimeras in the power room.
If I remember correctly, Chris was said to have been dishonorably discharged from the Air Force for striking an officer or going AWOL. He has a friendly rivalry with Forrest Speyer as they are the marksmen of the S.T.A.R.S. team. He joined S.T.A.R.S. after a chance meeting with Barry. Chris kills the Yawn after he and Rebecca find Richard, and they make it into the Guardhouse. They peek into the game room with the Spinners but don't enter our of fear. Chris drains the water in the basement after encountering the Neptune. He then leaves it and its offspring flopping helplessly on the floor; saying "Bite me" as he exits. He reunites with Barry and Jill and kills the Tyrant with the rocket launcher Brad kicked out of the helicopter.
Barry is said to be 35, and an avid weightlifter. The book has him repeatedly breaking doors down in the mansion. He's an even bigger gun fanatic in the novels and served on missions all over the world. He and Enrico are very close friends who served together for years. Wesker tells him that his family is being watched by a team of assassins and with orders to kill his wife and daughters if Barry didn't aid him. He kills a Hunter in the tunnels. He saves Jill from Wesker and accidentally releases the Tyrant.
Rebecca meets Chris the same as the game; she sprays a can of bug spray into his eyes as she'd lost her gun when running into the mansion. She solves the piano puzzle as well as makes the V-Jolt to kill Plant 42, sending Chris into the basement to find the roots while she prepares it. When her and Chris enter the room after using it, Plant 42 is already dead. It was here that she finds a half burned document implicating Wesker as involved in the incident. She actually has a large presence in the Perry novels; she's even the main focus of one of them.
Brad Vickers is said to be a computer hacker and is still portrayed as a coward. He immediately takes off in fear when he sees Alpha Team running back to the helicopter from the Cerberus, He spends the entire novel flying around the mansion trying to make radio contact. Alpha Team repeatedly mentions how bad they were going to "kick his ass" if they survived. In the novel for Nemesis, he is said to be the absolute worst shot on the entire S.T.A.R.S. team.
Joseph is said to be a wisecracking prankster who likes to pick on Brad for his cowardice and Barry about his age. He is killed by the Cerberus after finding the Beretta with the severed hand holding it.
Forrest Speyer is described as a "redneck". He is Bravo Team's marksman and their helicopter pilot. He and Chris have a brief exchange before Bravo Team takes off. Chris finds his corpse on the balcony after the crows kill him. Chris takes Forrest's Beretta and gives it to Rebecca to use.
Richard was already dead when Chris and Rebecca found him. The only things said about him were that he was a top notch radio man and a very friendly guy, but didn't have much field experience. Rebecca takes his radio.
Kenneth's corpse was found first by Jill and Barry and later by Chris, who searches it for ammo for Rebecca. His head is severed and he is missing a hand; it is implied that it's the one that Joseph found outside of the mansion. The only info supplied about him was that he was a talented field scout and chemist with a young son. He was also the second worst shot on the team next to Brad.
Enrico was described as no-nonsense but respected. He and Barry have known each other for years; going on missions together. Enrico's wife was said to have babysat Barry's two daughters many times. Like the game, he is killed by Wesker.
Edward Dewey and Kevin Dooley do not appear in the novels at all, nor are they even mentioned.
And lastly, Wesker is portrayed as only recently being made Captain of the Raccoon S.T.A.R.S. He has a very contentious relationship with Chief Irons. He curses Brad for abandoning them and was upset that they ended up in the mansion while fleeing the Cerberus. He sends Chris to investigate the gunshot, then sends Jill and Barry when Chris fails to return. Wesker spends a good portion of the mansion incident hiding in some of the locked rooms as the others search and encounter the creatures. He is angered when he finds a book containing the Wolf Medal as it means that the lab is locked down. He enlists Barry to help him find the crests to unlock the door to the residence, threatening to have his family murdered if Barry doesn't comply. He murders Enrico in the caves and turns the crank which releases the Hunters. In the lab, he sneaks away to the power room to set off the self- destruct sequence after being knocked unconscious by Barry while they enter the Tyrant room. Weak from the blow to the head and unarmed since they took his gun, he is pounced upon by the Chimeras after activating it and it is implied that he is killed by the Tyrant.

A great detail is how much the voice actor for Enrico sounds like Enrico from the original. Idk the impression is spot on, albeit with a lot better acting skill.

They should have included Weskers tunnels. He seems to move about the mansion and bypass all locked doors and dangerous enemies. I have that theory about that

Jill's outfit is supposed to be some kind of LBV, load-bearing vest. However, she doesn't appear to be storing anything within it. No magazines, no tools, etc.
Well, they overdid it a bit with the Delta Force thing with Jill. People who know what it is surely chuckle at this moment.

Getting to know about this kind of "region locked" content from a game is always so cool. Makes me feel as a child again, finally understanding a game in a foreign language after buying a gaming magazine explaining the detais in my mother tongue.
I'm so happy to hear that, that's such a great feeling to recapture! I totally understand every time I get one of these books, there's almost always something interesting. Hopefully I'll get enough views on RUclips to finally get paid so I can get some more books.
For now it's time to work on Part 3. But I've been focused on REmake for like 5 months now, maybe I'll do one of the original trilogy games next.

In the shark room it would be physically impossible to open or close the door with the water being that high. And say the door did open outward, the water would rush out so fast and flood the other room. It's just something I've always thought of, ya know. Using my brain to think about the important things in life. Lol
Haha very true! But this is the man who can punch a boulder, so I guess normal physics don't apply.

I think they give Chris all those hunky outfits so nobody can say they are sexist for making outfits like Jessica's wetsuit from revelations skimpy. As they equally do it for male & female characters.

Haha yeah actually that's a good point. I was gonna say maybe it's hard to imagine for Japanese people, but I just looked it up and it says they accept 18 year olds too.
Now, there were some recent changes to the age of adulthood in Japan, so maybe when that was written the age was 20 years old.

jill being in delta force (or special forces) is impressive as fuck. in real life you know how many women are in SF? 0. if the games take our reality into consideration the military didn't allow women to join until 2016, making jill even more impressive

@@raccooncitycinema Jill is an interesting character and is more human than Chris. As you say also in the video there is a sort of character progression :3 Anyway, I like Jill too.

@@onibur4023 Yes, I did finally play it! It felt so good to play a classic survival horror again. Some of the puzzles were challenging and I got stuck a few times. But if I ever get the time I wanna play through it again.

As for the strategy guide claims, for Jill, all of it seems to have in-game evidence for it, except the logistical role part. We never see Jill in a logistical role. she is always pretty much front and center, when she is not controlled by Wesker.
As for Chris... for some of it, there is no in game evidence for. I didn't play RE6, but I never saw an instance where he disobeys his commanding officer, unless that's Wesker... did I miss something?
Also, for for a brother who really cares about his sister Claire, we never see Chris and Claire EVER AGAIN since Code Veronica in the games.
For Rabecca, this one got disturbing for me, coz I remember playing the original director's cut, and someone told me the strategy guide said she's 10 years old. Apart from that, there is in game evidence for most of her lore
As for Barry, there is in game evidence for most of the claims.
As for Wesker, well, he's dead now, so it doesn't matter.
