Agreed. It’s always been 1, 2 or 3 in my ranking.
Part 2 is the best film in the series
Great ranking Emily! I do have a soft spot for Part V: A New Beginning. I'd probably swap it with Part 1. I wasn't too bothered by the fact that Jason wasn't the killer. Do you think that Part 2's potato sack head Jason is more disturbing than the Jason in Parts 3 and 4? I'm not comparing him to Parts 6 and beyond, because that was resurrected zombie Jason. Part 2 just feels more like a backwoods horror movie, with a very human-like Jason who can and does get hurt and overpowered throughout. It feels like the scariest one of the series for it's overall creepy atmosphere and great characters and yes, the best final girl of the entire franchise.
Great ranking! I’d also take part 2 as my favorite, I’ve always felt that one is the darkest while still having the classic slasher vibe. Good to see the RUclipsr horror channels are still around.

I'm nostalgic for 5...its sleazy, but has a lot of kills (the highest if o remember)...even if some are off camera/screen. The copycat is what sells me❤ also...it starts over a candy bar?!? What??? Totally my favorite 😍
I’m not generally a big fan of the Friday The 13th franchise but some of my favorites are Jason Lives, Final Chapter, and Part 2 in that particular order. To be honest I’m more of a fan of the Child’s Play, Nightmare On Elm Street, and Halloween franchises. All in all, it was a pretty damn good ranking in my honest opinion which is one of many reasons why i just subscribed to your channel. Thank you so much for your time Emily and have a great weekend!

I'm certainly in the minority but Jason Goes to Hell is in my top 5, it fluctuates based off my mood. Like Iron Man 3 the common complaint is that Jason isn't in it. Well he is in it, the whole film, he's just body hopping. Friday the 13th 5 (another underrated film) is actually a film with no Jason, yet that's ranked higher for many, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Jason Goes to Hell has an actual story to it, has one of the more gruesome deaths & the characters that die are likeable.

F13 the game confirmed the dog in part 4 Gordon did survive. I also believe Muffin in part 2 survives as well. One of the things I like best about Jason.
I found my dream girl lol ... jk ... however , i do feel our list's are very similar up to 1 & 2 ... my #2 pick would be Part 2 and The Final Chapter is my favorite ... It was the first Friday film that i saw theatrically on opening night , April 13th , 1984 .... I love everything about it ... The recap in the beginning is awesome, even though it was done behind the back of director Joe Zito and he had no clue that they even added it on there but i dig it ... the creepy factor was turned up all the way in this one ... and lets not forgot the iconic dance moves of Crispin Glover ... He's definitely not a dead fuck on the dance floor thats for sure ... and who doesnt love a black and white , silent porno film from the 1920's ??? ... Come on !!! The final chapter delivers on all fronts and also gives us the most useless wanna be hero , rob dyer ... Oh god hes killing me !!! Love the video and sorry it took me this long to find it ... any time you need a friday the 13th movie date , hey im down !!! Haha ... great video !!!

Nice ranking, I love these films. Here’s my list from worst to best.
12. A New Beginning- I hate this film. This is my most hated film of all Friday, Nightmare amd Halloween films. I actually like Roy, I think he’s a cool killer and my hatred for this film has nothing to do with Jason not being in it. The entire film feels sleazy and off putting…to me, it somehow feels dirtier than a Rob Zombie movie…something about the way it’s filmed, and the stuff they put in there. It’s just a disgusting movie. And the hick characters are god awful.
11. Jason Goes to Hell- I respect what Adam Marcus was trying to do, but this film was a total misfire in every way. It’s a really stupid idea that never should have made it past the storyboard meetings. Not the worst thing in the world, it’s just not something I wanna watch.
10. Jason Takes Manhattan- Awful movie…like really awful. But it kind of has a so bad it’s good charm to it. This movie has a certain late 80s early 90s nostalgia to it. I don’t really like it all that much, but it makes me feel nostalgic when I watch it lol.
9. Jason X- Really dumb, but kinda fun. This is a mindless turn off your brain kind of movie. And it’s fun for that. But it’s not much else.
8. Jason Lives- I’ve never been a big fan of this movie. I don’t like the comedic tone and the whole self aware thing is just stupid to me. I like my slashers to be serious. This is a franchise about a serial killer, the whole comedic thing ruins the vibe. Not terrible, but not really my thing.
7. Freddy vs Jason- Like Jason X, this is just dumb. It’s fun in a fanfic kind of way, but come on…the concept is so stupid. As a kid I loved this, but at 31 years old it’s really silly. It only gets this high up because it IS cool having two slasher icons in one film. It’s like the Avengers of slasher films lol….kind of haha.
6. The Final Chapter- This one has waned on me over the years. I used to love it, and don’t get me wrong, it’s a very good slasher film. I think that after watching so many slasher films and giallos throughout the years, watching it now it’s just kind of…generic. It has a cool Jason, but it lacks the suspense of the first two and it lacks the style of the third one. It’s kind of just…there. I don’t know, this is just personal taste, as time goes on this one goes lower and lower for me.
5. Original- Great slasher movie, but in my opinion I think the series improves on itself after this one. This was the Halloween cash grab and I think the series still lacked an identity. If this movie never had sequels, this would have been no different from The Burning and Pieces, etc…
4. Remake- This one is hard for me to rank. Best Jason for sure, and the first 25 minutes are amazing. But the main cast of characters are pretty much god awful. They’re so irritating and unlikeable, it kind of hurts the film for me. This could have easily been #1 if the cast was more likeable.
3. Part 7- This could easily be number 1, at this point it’s like picking my favorite kid lol. But I decided to put this at number 3 because it is a little bit hokey with the supernatural powers angle. I really like Jason in this film though, he’s badass. Overall, this is like a great hits Friday film. It has all the elements to make a fun slasher.
2. Part 2- This Jason is very underrated to me. What he lacks in size and intimidation he makes up for in creep factor. I find this version of Jason to be very creepy, sort of in a Resident Evil 7 kind of way, where he’s like a backwoods psycho…not sure if I’m explaining that right lol. I also really appreciate the lore about him building this own stuff and living off the land…it’s a side of Jason I wish they would explore more. Also, great kills, great characters, awesome.
1. Part 3- This is a unconventional choice, i know. It’s just for me, having seen this series a million times, this is the one I find to me the most “fun”, while also keeping the suspense and scary tone of the first two to an extent. It goes a little bit campy but I never feel like it sacrifices the scary tone of the film, unlike Part 6. It has a great Jason, amazing kills, a great soundtrack, and as a big giallo fan, I think it feels very Mario Bava to me. Something about this film feels lower budget and more vintage than the others…don’t know what it is. It has a sense of style that the others don’t have.
There’s my ranking, hope you enjoyed. Also, will you be doing other rankings as well? Maybe you already have, I didn’t check lol.
Part 8 is entertaining, not great but has some unintentionally funny scenes, i enjoy it more than F vs J

I love part 2 and 3
Part 7 is my favorite in the series as it has my favorite kill, the sleeping bag kill. Part 8 is my least favorite but, it least it has some decent kills, always loved Part 2 as Amy Steel is one of the best final girls in the slasher genre. Welcome back Emily.

Part 4 is my top fave, I would like to see this 1hr and 52 min version of Part 7 you speak of, there's only a near 90 min version I've seen.

2, 4 and 6 are definitely my favorites too. I personally thought 2 was a bit too bland, but I think I need to watch it again as it has been a while.
I agree with your top 2 picks! You made a good list! I don’t like part 3 because it spends too much time in the barn! I don’t like part 6 because the script is bad Tommy digs up Jason’s grave! Overall you did a good job
Really strong ranking! I just finished my first time binge of both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddy Vs. Jason, so this was very well timed! I would put the original as my own #1. As great and monolithic as Jason is, Miss Voorhees is a much more interesting character to me. And I have nostalgia of watching that one with a best friend on Friday the 13th during a full moon! I also love 4 and 6, and I have a soft spot for Freddy Vs. Jason and Jason X! I especially appreciate that Freddy Vs. Jason has its cake and eats it too: You get to see both killers tag teaming, then turn in each other! I couldn’t find the link to that press conference video in the description. Did I miss it?
Cool channel Emily! I just saw Fri 13th VIII and the whole boat trip was odd, as well as the time they spent in NYC. I did feel like cheering for Jason by the end lol.

Edit: Oooh a fellow part 2 lover! Scared me so much as a kid. Definitely has the creepiest vibe to me without being supernatural like some of the other later movies are.

This is a cool rank. It’s hard for me to rank this franchise, because I’ve loved all of them for like 30 years. I tend to favor the first four.

Part 2 is the best.
I actually think part 8 is a little over hated. I get it. It was supposed to take place on Manhattan, and took a lot of place on a boat. But it wasn't their intention to make it take place on a boat. There was a budget issue. Because Paramount mistreated the franchise. They barely funded their movies, leaving the writers with little to work with, and sold it to the public because they knew they would make money from it.
But once I get past that title issue. I actually don't see much issue. They have 1 intentionally annoying character (the uncle) and he dies a strong death.They have great humor in it. They do the fakeout at the end, having the dog return, but making you think it's Jason. They have that great 80s music vibe at the ending.
Part 8 does have great music!
What is was "supposed to be" does make what it is, good. It's an abortion
Jason Goes to Hell is better as Wes Craven's Shocker.
