They need to stop listening to nfl draft “analysts” when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks and stop being swayed by the notion of the classic quarterback. Take a guy that you can build an offense around and mentor into the leader of your team. Stop trying to turn dudes with certain skills into something they are not and definitely stop plugging these young kids into spots and expecting them not to struggle or have growing pains. Quarterbacks are a hit or miss prospect. A lot of the great ones aren’t even first rounders.
I also love listening to how wrong Mel Kiper is on his draft analysis because later those same guys he trashes end up leading the league. And also some of his knocks on certain players about them being “slight of build” are soooo dumb especially when you actually look at the guy and see he’s basically talking out his ass. Just stop listening to these dumbass analysts they don’t have a crystal ball to show where a person will end up. I mean look how many ppl swore up and down Lamar Jackson should have been a wide receiver or running back. Now ain’t that a bitch!

If you knew satistics you would understand that you can't determine a cause a effect relationship from an observational study, because of all the confounding variables. You would need to do an experiment to determine that Mitchell Trubisky had less potential than Deshaun Watson. So pretty much, it is impossible to determine who had more potential, because of the confounding variables. You could say that you THINK Watson's career is turning out better because he had more potential, but you can not 100% say that, because there was never an experiment blocking out the other possible explanatory variables. Each quarterback was givon drastically different situations with many different explanatory variables determining the response variable.

Most mock drafts of the 2017 draft had dashaun Watson higher anyways and he was a much more complete quarterback than any one coming out of the class out the bat (biased I am a Texans fan after all). When the Bears drafted Trubisky, I thought he would be decent. He wasn't going to be as good as Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes, but he would be enough to alleviate the suffering of trying to watch Jay Cutler try in vain to throw a football, and hopefully propel the Bears at least into the playoffs again.
He has shown promise on multiple occasions, and I thought that getting Matt Nagy, a renowned quarterback coach, would help him find the footing he needs. That didn't happen. Trubisky consistently overthrows his targets and he has issues throwing long passes, meaning he really doesn't get a lot of passing yards.
I think that the Bears ought to keep him as a backup this year, and then let him go and find a new quarterback to take his place or just let Foles keep the starter job if he proves himself enough.
Foles has done well in both of the games he started, despite losing one of those games, and I would argue that he was decent back in Jacksonville but did not have the team surrounding him to really make him shine. A bit like Matt Stafford and the Lions, really. With the Bears, he has a decent offense and a solid defense to support him, and I think he'll do well.
Also, on a closing note, fuck Ryan Pace we need to fire him and not moving Kyle Long to left tackle and keeping him on the team was one of the stupidest decisions ever made. I rest my case.

Trubisky shouldn’t have been drafted #2. He may have been a 1st round pick, but not number 2. We should’ve drafted Mahomes or Watson. A team that needed a QB at the time would be the Broncos who had the 20th pick and had no qb after Manning retiring the season before the 2017 season

Y’all gotta see the facts, Mitchell Trubisky was put in the worst position possible. He went through a lot of offensive coordinator changes, and he didn’t have any good quarterback to learn from. But for Patrick Mahomes, it was different. He has a goated coach, who is Andy Reid. And he had Alex Smith to learn behind. And also some great weapons, like Travis Kelce and tyreek hill. Not trying to bring any hate but you can’t blame this all on Trubisky

Great video, Mike. As a long-suffering bears fan, it is PAINFUL to watch Mahomes and Watson play. However, eventually (I'm 45 yo; when I say "eventually", I mean AFTER I retire and am long dead) Bears fans will forget about all of this when we finally get that bona fide franchise QB (Hell, maybe even develop one - nah, we would need the following: ownership change, visionary football leadership, have a football-first front office instead of a bean-counter as the organization president, etc; that's right, WORLD PEACE will break out OR the sun will have eaten the earth eventually before that ever happens....) .... but your point is well made and, admittedly, the Bears had NO BUSINESS drafting Trubisky, let alone trading up for him (Pace should be fired - not just for this but for also consistently missing on his first round choices) . . Have no choice but to truly appreciate football artistry and enjoy watching Mahomes/Watson/etc. play (still cannot root for Rodgers, sorry) and appreciate the fact that there is no point in wishing to own and maintain a Bugatti Chiron with a Ford Taurus (2003) football organization and Model T football mindset . . . Trubisky WILL go on and succeed elsewhere (maybe he will take longer like Tannehill did in the "right" situation or become a solid backup or HELL, MAYBE even win a SB (!!!!)) - now THAT would be TRULY PAINFUL to watch but I would have no choice then but to WISH HIM THE VERY BEST . . .
