What I really want to happen with him (and with many others) is that Hollywood actually offers him substantial roles in A-list films regularly. One of the still sadly unexplored frontiers in Hollywood's recent strides when it comes to diversity is accents (actors with non-European, non-Anglo accents making it big in the States). Hollywood needs to write more stories about interesting, compelling, complex characters who happen to be fully Asian, Hispanic, Appalachian (not __________-American), and many groups that we rarely see in movies on a regular basis.

I’m a 28 year-old aspiring entertainment journalist and supporting actor with Cerebral Palsy. I want to book work for Pepsi commercials and family movies like Ghostbusters 3: Afterlife, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, and Toy Story. Seeing Ke achieve his resurgence rise to fame by winning an Oscar at just 51 years old gives me a sense of peace and confidence. Nobody ever failed at life because they didn’t achieve their dreams by the time they were 23 years old. I earned my Associate’s Degree from Massasoit Community College when I was 25 years old. I’ve finished 16 acting classes in 6 years and I’m currently 89% done with my Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Video Arts Production from Bridgewater State University. I'm glad I heard Ke's story to make sure that I didn't underestimate the value of how honesty and time will prevail and how there's no age limit on our dreams. Being persistent, dedicated, and firm about my career is what makes it all worth the wait. Congratulations to Ke Huy Quan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Incredibly well deserved
I usually dislike these ceremonies but seeing the results this morning made me incredibly happy for him. His performance and character were amazing.

What nostalgia! His joy was a child's joy. And best of all, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg were there to applaud him! The award was supporting, but it starred in the most beautiful moment of the event. "Keep your dreams alive!"

Growing up in the 90's, my siblings and I would re-watch Temple of Doom, Goonies, and Encino Man (which he had very short moments in). We always loved Ke, never knowing his real name, just referring to him as Shorty or Data -- but he was our favorite character in each. Really happy to see this happen for him.

He was never in Encino Man. Fraser was in Enrico Man (or California Man, as known in some countries.)

So happy for him that he won and achieved his success but even happier for him that he has such a loving and supportive family that never judged him and never gave up on him when nobody recognized him. A brother who calls him every day to tell him to take care of himself and his wife of 20+ years telling him every day that his time will come; these are amazing people, just as amazing as him. His wife is so beautiful, inside and outside. He's a very lucky man. So happy for him and so happy for his family.
