This is ALWAYS the problem with "open relationships", 99'99% of the time is one of them just wanting an excuse to be a cheater without being branded as such, but indeed, they are cheaters, and cheaters don't deserve to be in a relationship.
i feel like the only way opening up a marriage would be successful is if both partners are very open about their attraction for other people since the beginning and then naturally decide to open it after deep conversations about their desires, not for any specific person. in theory both partners could help each other discover their sexuality through open communication
Absolutely. I'm usually pretty bothered by hate on open relationships in the comments despite being monogamous. Thing is, cheaters are going to cheat, even in open relationships. They enjoy sneaking around and lying, not just sleeping around. ANY relationship requires communication between partners, but it's even more important in poly/open relationships. He started off with an ultimatum, forced a monogamous person into poly lifestyle, and lied to her (he already had someone in mind). This type of behavior will ruin any type of relationship, poly or not. Edit: take a shot for every time I said "relationship" lol
He was looking for a way to sleep around without it being labeled cheating. The scumbag.
He wanted the stability of having her around but the freedom to be a dog still.
First rule of CNM, if it's coerced via ultimatum, it isn't consent.
