Hey Andy ,, jst to touch on the marks getting ruined with the wrong line ,, I'm the exact opposite from you and fish really heavy ground in Scotland I think using shock leaders on the heavy ground is pointless and leaves far more crap in the water than fishing 80 to 100 braid right through with a decent rotten bottom,, I have never had the braid snap and 99% of the time when snagged fast getting most the mono rig back minus the hook and lead leaving practically nothing on the sea bed where as the shock leader is leaving a lot more behind,, and all the decent anglers up here fish the same way in the rough stuff,, cheers 👍

Always use 30 to 40lb main line no leader then your not loosing all that leader all the time gentle lob
      And plain lead rotten bottom

Shorter rigs for Huss. Pulley pennels 3 foot body 2 foot snood more than sufficient. 👍👍👍

Not sure if the snags would be down to anglers Andy. Not many would get the distance you do. Maybe due to the storms we’ve had. Like you say, a net or rocks etc…It’s very unusual to lose that many leads there.

I'm the same as you on the fixed spool, multi thing.. can't beat a decent multi but they don't make em anymore 🫣 your lucky if a penn fathom lasts four years.. luckily I've got a few Shimano speed masters😁 when you got snagged up an hour in I bet you where snagged up on the braid some fixed spool user left.. that stuff is worse on the sea bed than a trawler net 🫣
